Customer Reviews

Don't work as audio discsThese don't work well for audio purposes. I burned five of these discs, then tried to play one in a Panasonic player. Then I tried to play the other discs. The player doesn't even spin the discs, immediately declaring "NO DISC". I then burned two discs from the same CUE sheet - one of these Verbatim discs and a Philips disc made my CMC Magnetics. The Philips disc plays perfectly. Results were duplicated on a Memorex CD player. A third player, a Sony, was tried and both discs played on it. These discs cannot be reliably used for audio purposes with them being so incompatible with music players.1Great discs, adequate but not stellar printable surface. Perfectly adequate discs, excellent quality media layer. The white printable surface is decent enough for daily use, but doesn't handle color contrast as well as I hoped. If you're looking for a commercial-grade printable layer, look for discs with glossy surfaces with waterguard technology. If you just want a serviceable daily-use-grade print surface combined with an excellent media recording surface underneath, these are excellent discs. 4Not the sameI've been buying these for years, bought this last batch, the undercoating is thicker, different. I can burn one out of ten. I bought a new burner for my MacPro, installed. I'm still only able to burn one out of ten... I can burn three out of ten on my PC... The pic shows the difference, left is new, right is old. Used to be great if not the best, now it's crap.1Verbatim Makes Some Quality Discs! I ordered a spindle of these for the sole purpose of burning homebrew content and game backups for our first generation Sega Dreamcast. So far we haven't had a single issue compared to the other spindles we had lying around where it felt as if it were a fifty-fifty chance for a successful burn. Also, the matte white surface is great for doodling cover art on!Would buy again! 5MID: Mitsubishi Chemical Corp. The Manufacturer string returned by ImgBurn for these discs is Mitsubishi Chemical Corp. That means that Mitsubishi made these and not CMC. Mitsubishi is one of the best manufacturers of optical media out there; CMC is one of the worst. If you buy any non DataLifePlus CD-R's from Verbatim, they're made by CMC. So any Verbatim CD-R's bought from a brick and mortar store will be CMC. You should always avoid the non DataLifePlus CD-R's and DVD recordable discs. Any Life series DVD-R's will be CMC. CMC DVD recordable discs fail to burn about 50% of the time. Those 50% that do burn are usually not recognizable as playable discs by DVD players that are capable of reading that particular type of recordable DVD. CMC used to make a passable DVD+R but their quality declined in recent years. CMC is too unreliable so they cannot be trusted for quality.I burned 2 of these in my Pioneer Blu-Ray burner and they burned and verified fine. My PS3 also had no problem playing these CD's back.I cannot review the quality of the inkjet printable surface as I have no such printer to use with them. I get these discs, though, for the future, in case I ever get one. Plus, one can write on the surface with a CD safe marker to also label them.5Quality as good as Sony, Smartbuy, Maxell. Have used this brand for many years. Some of the BEST blank media you can buy. As good as Sony, Smartbuy, Maxell, etc. Once in a while a bad batch will occur in manufacturing process. Verbatim has a Great Guarantee and will immediately replace a bad lot or batch. There website is included online or on the packaging.5burning fine w/ my plextor.. **read till endso here goes. i have burned 4 discs so far and every one come out w/ no problems. but i am using a desktop plextor drive. i think that may have a lot to do w/ a lot of peoples problems is they use garbage laptop burners. found that out after burning off of laptops and i even bought my mom a USB dvd burner, and it was a pioneer!, but that thing didn't spit out anything but coasters. same discs same media on my desktop drive (and i was using an ASUS drive at the time not the plextor i have now) and they burned fine. i think it has a lot to do w/ the burner as well as the media.*** bonus tip. i held the discs i got up under a light to try and read the matrix numbers and the serial number ends w/ "azo" so i'm pretty sure these are good discs. like i said no probs so far for me! :) peace, out.5Poor Quality for a Verbatim CD disk I have used Verbatim CD-R 700MB 52X DataLifePlus Silver Inkjet Printable in the past and they have been good quality. However I cannot say the same for this last order. I am having to throw away one out of every four CDs because they do not complete the write process before quitting with a write error. As to the printing on CDs that did burn properly the print quality was great. If it wasn't for having to discard 25% of the CDs, I would have given these CDs 5 stars! 3Either bad unit or bad productI have burned many CDs and DVDs; there are usually a few duds in each package. I have used every brand that I could find. TDK, like their blank cassettes, was always the best. I have some Verbatim printable blank DVDs that work fine and some non-printable Verbatim blank CDs that work fine. But each of these blank printable CDs: Verbatim CD-R inkjet printable white, Hub printable; P/N 95252; 100pcs; Made in China- do not produce any quality CDs. They either start skipping after a couple of weeks or the last songs from day one sound garbled and full of static. I did an experiment after keeping the computer off for twelve hours. I burned one of these, then one non-printable, one of these, and another non-printable- all from the same image. Each of these had songs at the end that were garbled; the non-printable, which happened to be Verbatim too, worked just fine. In addition, when I printed on them in black, the color came out a blurry red-black. I had printed immediately before and after on other brand printables using same format and the color came out just fine. I will not be buying these again. If you just want to make artwork out of them, or use the full container as a paper weight, they work just fine.1Must have gotten a bad batchI bought 3-100x packages last year for an annual Christmas project. The first two seemed okay. A few clunkers but nothing too bad. The third one, which I just today opened, was a big disappointment. Way too many defectives; so many that I had to check every one manually. Probably a bad batch from the manufacturer. Of course, it's way past the return date so I'll just have to make a note to avoid the brand in the future. Would have liked to have taken this up with the seller but this seemed the only avenue.2Holds printing well and remains one of the most durable CD-R's I've used. It's fun to create a label for your CD. It's also great to see it printed onto the disc itself with the white matte finish providing the perfect canvas for any of your printing as the ink set on the matte surface is thorough. However, I wish that the entire hub ring area was also printable as the ink takes a while to dry on the exposed plastic. So, please be careful when stacking a freshly printed disc to avoid smudging. Regardless, great quality, durability and reliability all for an attractive price point makes this product a very worthwhile choice.5Verbatim AZO Discs: Great for Audio CD'sI've ordered two kinds of these discs, the total Silver Inkjet printable and the Silver with the regular hub. Both have worked great for me. I only use these to burn Audio discs to play in CD players, and they have worked fine with my home stereo CD player (an old 2004 Sony), my Sony Blu-ray and my car (2014 Honda). I don't actually print on them with an inkjet printer, I just write and color them with Sharpies. They take Sharpie ink very well, and will work with probably any permanent marker really. I prefer the "Naked" surface of the silver discs, without all the branding. I have used almost 100 of them over the course of two years, and rarely had a disc not work. The only time I had an issue with discs not working was when I first got them, I tried to burn the discs at different speeds with the CD-burner. These discs work best when I just set the CD burner software to burn it at "Maximum Possible" speed. Whenever i set it to burn at a set rate or to burn slower, the discs would usually be messed up, with glitches on playback. Once I figured out that slow or set speed burns didn t work very well, I ve never had problem with discs not working (and just letting the burner do it s thing automatically with Max/variable speed ) I use a 2012 Macbook Pro with a Superdrive and a cheap external LG DVD burner. I think they are both 24X speed. Software I ve used has been iTunes, XLD app, or Roxio Toast Titanium. The discs I burned previously have played fine months or a year later. So if you have issues with the discs not working right for Audio, check your burner settings and set it to " Maximum", Best or "Variable" speed. I think some discs and burners are just meant to work at variable speed. Also, if recording Audio, be sure to select "include CD-Text" so when playing it in the car, the track info will show up on the CD player. Anyway, I just re-ordered the SIlver Hub Printable ones because I like the full silver look and I'm starting to run low. These are very good value discs and the AZO coating is supposedly better to use than others. Recommended!5SILVER SHIMMER! 3D EFFECT! ATTENTION GETTER! PROFESSIONAL LOOK!If you are making cds of home studio recordings, DataLifePlus is the way to go. "Opens up" the sound on playback of your recordings. Crystal clear! Archives your recordings, etc. The silver printable cd-r add a shimmer and professional 3d look to your cds. Hub printable or not is up to your taste. Have burned some "regular Vebatim cd-rs and they sounded "good" but the Verbatim datalifeplus seems to bring the sound to life. May be my imagination but if so, I still think they're the best sound. White or silver, they have the best sound. Try a pack of each and decide what "look" you're going for.5
