Customer Reviews

Does it's Job What to write for a USB drive? Any USB drive if not defective will do it's job :)These days 4 GB and 8GB is not enough esp. when we have lots of photographs, videos and data files. So I opted for 32GB drive. My Windows 7 laptop immediately detected the Verbatim USB drive and activated it's relevant driver software.I backed up my 11 GB data into the drive. It took around an hour to completely transfer the files.Once the data transfer is completed, its better to right click over the icon which appears on the system trayof the task bar and select Eject. Otherwise, it may show error when you plug the USB drive, the next time. The overall quality of the drive is good. The button which push the USB plug is not sturdy. So when you push the buttonit somewhat goes inside, which I felt not that comfortable to push and pull the USB plug.My suggestion to the manufacturer is that to make this pushable button sturdy and smooth to push and pull. The reason I bought this USB are :1. You can put this into your key chain. This is very important for an expensive device of this size.2. It's from Verbatim.3. Good design and looks modern.4. Once the transfer is done you can pull the USB plug inside.5. Upto 32GB storage capacity is available. In order to make the push/pull button more sturdy and smooth, I give this USB drive 4 stars. 4kinda flimsy - ok for *very* casual use - not rugged enough for normal use This is not a robust thumb drive. The catch to keep the plug in the extended position is very weak, such that you have to *hold* it in the extended position as you plug in the drive. Otherwise, the plug collapses back into its case. Rather clumsy. Case is open in the back over the plug portion when plug is retracted; not my fave for cleanliness.I wanted a 2 GB drive. 1 GB wasn't enough for my purposes, and 10,000GB was overkill, so this 2GB drive was just fine. There weren't many single-serve 2 GB thumb drives to choose from. This does the job for what I wanted - transport medical veterinary records - but I wouldn't buy another.mb 3Verbatim 2 GB Flash...GREAT PRODUCT!!!! This 2 GB flash drive is a high quality product unlike some of these cheaper, odd-name brands out right now. I bought some of the cheaper ones thinking I was a smart shopper and I was sorry! Grrrr! Some were definitely defective and I wasted my money. And so I then bought Verbatim and now I'm a satisfied customer as they work wonderfully! I use them for my Professional 6-needle embroidery machine (Babylock), of which I buy designs online and then transfer the designs unto these flash drives then I take it to my embroidery machine and stitch away! One is not to use more than 2 GB on embroidery machines and so these with only 2 GB's, which are like non existent in stores, are great and the price is ok and Amazon is a good online store. The famous saying "you get what you pay for" is true!!! 5Slip Sliding Away Whenever the flash drive is attempted to be inserted, it collapses. When I slide it out to insert it, it slips back into its holder or casing. It has to be held just right to prevent the tip (the part that must go into the computer) from slipping back into the holder. It's annoying as can be. Nonetheless, it does function once it is finally engaged. UPDATE: I now have it taped in the usable (out) position so it doesn't slip. It's less attractive, inconvenient, and I'm unable to protect the actual drive part of the device by sliding it into it's built-in case, but it's functional. 1Buyer be warned - It's dead now. New complaints:I've been using this for a month. Last night, my computer had a popup screen that informed me I had to reformat the drive to use it. I clicked "quick format," and it failed. I tried again, this time using the other option, after 5 minutes my computer informed me the format failed.I tried using a different computer, different options, nothing. I don't know why it died. I was very careful that I "safely remove"d it each and every time. Maybe I static shocked it, maybe it was Wednesday. My overall experience with this flash drive is negative, I would recommend you look elsewhere for a flash drive.Old review:___________The packaging advertised that it used less plastic - they sandwiched a thin layer between two layers of cardboard. I needed a pair of scissors to open it, wasn't thrilled about that.Bought this for its large capacity. The 32 gigabyte it advertised is actually 29.8 gibibytes (For the same reason your 1TB hdd has only 931 GiB).I was able to format it to a NTFS instead of the default FAT, which took about 30 seconds. I then transferred about 700 MB of pictures to it, which took a little more than 2 minutes. I was hoping this would transfer much faster, but I guess I have to pay more for that. This flash drive does not feature a cap; after extending the USB connector I was pleased that it stayed out when I pushed it into my computer, I've had experiences where this was not the case. 2poorly designed case While Verbatims quality is generally excellent and these drives work well from a technical perspective, I am not very happy with the case design. All "slider" drives hide the USB connector and let you push it out when needed. These drives, however, don't really "lock" in place when extended, so that most of the time, when inserting the drive into a computer, you push the drive back into it's case rather than making a secure connection inside the USB socket. This is quite annoying and has given me a lot of problems when a drive was only "partially" or loosely connected. 2Quite handy This is a 16Gb flash drive with a retractable tip, plastic casing and a keychain loop. It fits smoothly into USB slots and works with both Mac and PC computers. It comes formatted and ready to go. The loop on the end accommodates both keychains or lanyards.I put the drive on my keychain and have used it constantly for 11 months. Since I work on several different computers over the course of a day, I keep my working copies of all my files on the flash drive and back up the files onto whichever computer I am working on at the end of the day. I've never had any compatibility issues--I can go seamlessly from Win2000 to Macs to Vista and the files and directories all on the flash drive work flawlessly. But lately, the flash drive has become unreliable, with random files corrupted and the root sporadically showing up as empty--time for a replacement. I expected a little longer life, but then, this drive gets a lot of abuse. It gets banged about with the car keys and torqued by the weight of the key ring when the keys are hanging off the desk top. The drive would probably last longer if it weren't on the key ring, but then I would lose it for sure. Still, it's such a handy gadget at such a good price, I will definitely replace it with another Verbatim drive. 4Not worth the money...... This was a total waste of money. I saved four excel files on this thumb drive. I went to use it the next day and as soon as I put it in my computer an error message appeared that it needed to be re-formatted. It was re-formatted. I saved the four files again. When I went to use it a second time the same message appeared. It was then re-formatted on a different computer. And then a third computer. This endless cycle happened four or five times. I even had my VERY techie 20 something son double check me. I did everything possible to make it work but nothing did. Also when it was removed from the USB drive on the computer it was hot to the touch. I wanted a thumb drive with a smaller amount of storage and thought this would be my answer. It is junk. Scroll on friends and find something else. 1Great for the Purpose! I'm the Senior Staff Teacher in a Learning Center that works with high school girls who have learning disabilities and we have a number of important documents that we use for communications with the Administration, Parents, and Mainstream teachers, as well as outside professionals. I'm responsible for designing all the stationery, forms, etc., for the center, but I wanted the stationery to be personalized for each teacher (we have eight this year, and are adding one next year). I put all the documents for each teacher on their own 2 GB flash drive and Voila! they have access to fresh copies of their stationery and forms at all times! I also provide documents on different academic subjects for each teacher depending on the grade they teach (I teach all 4 high school grades) and this 2 GB flash drive is exceptionally good for my needs. It holds any information I want to put onto it and allows me to add to each teachers knowledge base in different subjects at any time by simply transferring from my school computer to their flash drives. I got this one recently, and honestly, it is the best and least expensive 2 GB flash drive I have purchased. I went ahead and got more because I loan out flash drives to students in the Learning Center when they've forgotten their own flash drive and they need to take home what they've been working on in session. I now have a "library" of flash drives for the Learning Center that are just right in price and capacity. It's a great little drive and much better quality than anything else that I've seen in stores for more money. I just wish it came with a lanyard. I had to buy those separately--on Amazon of course! You won't be disappointed by this little hero if you don't need a great deal of storage. (My personal one is 32GB.) 5Good product and great service It is hard now days to find 2 GB flash drives, because most folks think more is better, I use mine to input embroidery designs into my home embroidery sewing machine. It will only handle a 1 or 2 GB drive.. The other thing is so many of them do not have a loop or opening large and strong enough to attach to a key ring, lanyard or whatever. This has both. As far as the service goes. UPS delivered them not to my door but near my open gate. It snowed for a week and I found them 10 days later when the snow had melted. I asked if they would be safe to use in a $6000 sewing machine and they sent me a whole new order although I had told them that they were dry inside the package. Normally UPS is very good but the fill in driver said he was afraid of my dog so he was dumping stuff 75 foot from the house.(he did the same to a neighbor who has no dog) After it happened a second time I got a hold of the UPS Hub and I think that problem be solved. If he afraid to get out of the truck he can at least dump the stuff up by the house. 5
