Hooks Easily Break I like this rack over-all but the problem I recently had is that one of the hooks broke and the items feel off. The hook does still 'snap' back into place, but wont hold much more weight than a baseball cap now. Prior to it breaking, this hook had only a baseball cap and a lightweight hooded sweatshirt on the single hook that broke. I would understand if it had been a heavy jacket or 2, or the items were continuously 'yanked' from the hook, but where this is located and how it's used neither of these 'if's' are considerations.Again, it's unfortunate as the rack otherwise fits my needs completely. Probably too late now to get a new one from the manufacturer but if they offered, I'd be happy to swap it out in hopes that I just received a defective one. Honestly, now Im worried other hooks on it will start to fail - hope not, so far so good. with the others. I'll update if that changes. 2Very happy with it. It is a very nice design. We bought a five multi-color hook design. As others have said, they are hung with keyhole screw holes in the back, which are 11.5 inches apart and don't align with standard stud spacing. Fortunately, the last hooks on each end are about 16 inches apart on center. I drilled two inconspicuous holes from front to back in put a small headed cabinet screw through to the studs. You don't see the screw heads when the hook is closed and you don't see them when open and something is hanging on it. 5The unity is made of plastic - covered in thin brushed nickel covering. Honestly - for the price I'd expect better. Its a nice idea.. However I'd expect for this price to be better quality. The hooks are all spaced differently in the frame, some are "crooked" if that makes sense and dont align straight with the openings. I have been looking for a solution to our entrance way, and while I am ok with it ( as my wife puts it, coats will be hanging on it anyway so it will be covered up) I'd expect the quality and assembly to be higher grade at this price point. Also I can already see how some of these hooks wont stay up, there are three that are already loose. The unit is snapped together so it doesnt look like there is a way to disassemble/ service if needed either. 3Stylish & great quality at a great price This is a review on the Umbra flip 5-hook wall mount in walnut color. Let me start off by saying that I absolutely like this item & after reading many reviews on different products, I decided to go with this one and I do not regret my purchase. We have the nickel color at work, which it also contributed to my ultimate decision as I was able to physically inspect it prior to my purchase. The walnut color matches my floors as well as other accessories around the house. In addition to that, it is very sturdy and well-made, it doesn't feel cheap at all. I really like the fact that you can hide the hooks when not in used for a cleaner look. So far, I've put some very heavy coats and they hooks have held pretty well. The installation was not hard at all, as only a. drill driver and a leveler was needed.Overall, this was a great purchase and I am very pleased with it. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a coat hook that has a stylish finish and a great build quality. 5not even, color differs Would have given 5 stars if I had ordered one piece. Unfortunately I have a long narrow hallway and needed 2 pieces in a raw. This is where problems began. Two racks (in one order) turned out to be of different tint: one is bright white, another is ivory. Both beautiful but no way to put them in a raw. Also the holes on the back are not exactly the same. I reordered and - are u kidding me??- received two more of different color again. Now I look at 4 and there are no 2 of exactly the same color. OK I chose two which look almost the same. But then I noticed that the length differs by a couple of mm. No need to say when I put two of them on the floor to check the place where they meet each other the depth is not exactly the same so they will not look even on the wall. How come? This is not a frickin farmhouse rustic handmade granny's stool one of a kind. These must match! So frustrated. 2Instructions were not Had to get creative. So the instructions provided by Umbra were not helpful. I did not receive the paper ruler that was referenced in the instructions. Luckily I'm baby McGyver and was able to knock this out in under 10 mins. Here's what you'll need to avoid frustration. (7 things) Pics included. 8 steps1 piece of tissue1 dry erase marker (something that's easy to wipe off walls)1 tape measure1 power drill1 small drill bit for screw1 long drill bit for wall plug1 Mr clean magic eraser (you are probably going to scuff or mark up the wall, this helps a ton)Step 1 - Position the wall mount where you want it and dab the wall on each side with a marker. Don't worry if your dots aren't perfect. Use a tape measure to make sure things are evenly spaced to your liking.Step 2 - Fill the long U-shaped portions (not the circular portions) of the holes behind the wall mount with tissue. The tissue should be about the same diameter or a little larger as your screw.Step 3- Saturate these pieces of tissue with your marker color.Step 4 - Carefully align your wall mount in between the 2 dots on the wall and gently stamp the wall mount to the wall. You may mess up, it's ok, wipe off the marks with the magic eraser and try again.Step 5 - Once your wall mount stamps are how you want, get your drill, long drill bit, and wall plugs.Step 6 - Drill the holes in the wall for the wall plugs. Use a hammer or the back of your drill to press the wall plugs in.Step 7 - Get your drill and drill bit for your screws and screw them into the wall plugs, leaving about 3-4 screw spirals showing. Use the magic eraser as needed for marker Mark's or scuffs.Step 8 - Take the tissue out of the holes in the wall mount and carefully place your wall mount over the screws then pull down to lock it in place.Happy mounting! 4Good looking and fine for light duty, but installation method limits weight capacity. The rack is a great looking design, modern and unobtrusive when not in use. Was easy to install using included plastic wall anchors. Only gripe is, when installing in sheet rock, the design disallows the use of butterfly anchors, which are much stronger than plastic anchors. There is no way to make use of a through bolt due to the way the rack mounts on the screws similar to the way a picture frame does. The head of screw protruding from wall goes into inset on the back of the rack. Better design would be for the rack to have a hidden pass through to the front where it could be bolted positively to the wall. For example behind the drop down coat hooks. That said, mine has been holding 2-3 lighter weight jackets without issue. 4Well Designed, Easy to Install This was very well designed and easy to install. The installation kit includes a paper tape to size and place/pre position the rack on the wall which makes this really easy.Having had a few experiences of late, I used the tape and quickly punched holes through where the screw mounts are. I lined up the tape on the wall and leveled it, then taped it. I used that when I drilled the holes for the plastic expansion bolts which made this a 5 minute job to install.Speaking of which, the installation hardware was good quality, easy to work with and simple. After drilling two holes, I tapped the expansion bolts in put in the screws. The rack dropped into place perfectly. This now has my photographer equipment and backpacks in place, off the floor and tidy for the first time, ever. 5Its okay Great once it's up but boy was it a pain in the butt to hang. Like other reviews have said the diagram they give you to drills your holes doesn't match up with whats on the item itself and its the type of mounting that if you are not dead on it won't work. Make sure at least one of your holes is on a stud or you won't be putting a lot of weight on this thing. 4Very elegant coat hanger. Love the way this looks on my wall. People ask what it is all the time when we have nothing hung on it and that right there is how well this product blends in. The hangers are very nice quality and hold everything we put into them. The only annoying part was getting the screws to stick out just the right amount for mounting. If they are to far out then the hanger will wobble and feel loose, if they are too far in then you can t push the hanger down to lock into position. It took me a few tries to get it all right, but once it s on there you re set and have nothing to worry about. 5
