Customer Reviews

Outstanding Premium Cable I am so impressed with the quality of this cable. It is a bit difficult to unplug because of the design - the plastic bar that you have to press down to release it is below a bubble in the plastic covering, but once you realize this and do it a few times you just know what to do to get the cable released. I purchased a 50 foot cable to give me flexibilty and I could not be happier with this cable. I purchased the red but it is available in many colors that could match just about anything. The connections are sturdy and secure, which is important. This cable exceeds my expectations and therefore deserves the highest rating of 5 stars. I highly recommend these. 5Good cables I used these to replace some older self-made cables that stopped coming up on my switch as gigabit links. I was out of cat6 bulk cable so decided to give these a shot instead of buying another spool. So far, they're working great. Everything came up gigabit as it should. Length was consistent between all the ones I bought. Price was very good compared to local rip-off stores (really "big box" stores - stop complaining you can't stay in business if you're going to jack these items up 400%. If you're $2 more, fine, but if you're 4x the price you deserve to shut your doors for ripping people off.) 5The Gigabit speed and distance I needed for a reasonable price I needed to extend a wired connection from my main modem to my office, this product gavee enough distance while still providing Gigabit speeds, allowing me to take advantage of the speed I pay for. Good quality. It's been a couple of weeks already and have no problems. 5It's Tripp Lite, but the design could be better Got four of these in 20-foot, red green white yellow. The red is more of an ochre, in case that matters to you. They work, but frankly this 'snagless' design is bad no matter what version of it I buy. This one is just like the picture, with the 'snagless' idea supposedly protecting the plastic plug yet not overlaying it. Thus, your fingers can TOUCH the long 'finger' in the clicker portion. Well, if your fingers are small enough. That's an improvement over the typical one which has a layer of rubbery plastic OVER the long hard plastic clicker, because that clicker won't plug in as easily, using the typical style. Even so, it's a pain. You must be very gentle, and of course you must be sure you HEAR that 'click' when you plug the thing into router or computer, or you're sunk. The cables work. But frankly I'm not sure they protect the 'finger'. And, they are cumbersome to plug in, especially in tight corners, when you don't have small human fingers. Not sure there is any good way to do that, without preventing you from being able to use the 'finger' as you need, for a sure connection. Good news is, you can CUT the plastic alleging to 'protect' the finger.By the way, if you're an XFINITY user, you should have gotten a new modem/router with FOUR ethernet cables now at the back, so you can hook up four computers to it at any one time. Back in September, XFINITY removed the bandwidth cap. So this is a nice thing, to have colored cables. Finally, a note about the colors: a) I'm so sick of black in computers and cords, I could scream: who has black walls? Then b), I have many computers, so the color coding helps me know which cable at the router, belongs to which machine (I refuse to use wireless or wi-fi, even though I have it). 4Excellent Quality & Great Value I've gone through many network cables over the years and the Tripp Lite Cat6 is my favorite. To me, it comes down to these qualities:1. The connector - The Tripp Lite has an overmolded connector, which means the individual conductors are terminated in the connector and then the cable plastic is molded around all the individual wires. This makes the connector very strong and it's virtually impossible to pull out a wire or break an individual terminal. Metal-body connectors are nice, but they are much more expensive and they aren't really any stronger than a good overmolded connector. Insert-termination connectors (not overmolded, sometimes called modular) are cheap and can fail.2. The "snagless" design - Tripp Lite uses two little molded bumps at the edges of the connectors to avoid snags when pulling these cables through holes, around equipment, etc. This is a much better design than the typical flap that folds over the release tab. The flap style snagless cables are a pain compared to this design. The molded bumps are better and make it easier to remove the cable from the RJ45 jack.3. The strain relief - These cables have a long, flexible strain relief at the connector that is molded into the cable instead of simply sliding over it. This makes it very durable and easier to bend than other designs.4. True Cat6 - Cat5 and Cat5e might be fine for many applications, but Cat6 cables don't cost much more than Cat5 these days and they support higher bandwidth (such as Gigabit LAN and HDMI-over-LAN) so you have a bit more future-proofing. Cat6 cables tend to use larger gauge conductors and better sleeves than Cat5 cables too (in general, not always the case - There are great Cat5 cables out there, but for the money why not go with Cat6?).5. Cost - There just isn't any reason I can think of to spend more money than these Tripp Lites for good network cables. There are cables that might look nicer or come in fancier packaging, but who cares? The cable has to work and be reliable and these Tripp Lite Cat6 cables do just that. Plus, they have the advantages of good quality and design mentioned above. These cables are a great buy and a fantastic value. 5A well made cable by a trusted company. A very well made cable by a company you can trust. I've bought their surge protectors for years and I have the feeling this cable is not going to let me down any time soon. Is it faster than my cat5? Probably. But, I'm not running large transfers all the time. The connection is solid and it feels well constructed. I'd buy another without hesitation. 5Met (And Exceeded) My Expectations I've purchased several ethernet cables online over the years, but after I bought my first Tripp Lite I never bought any brand but Tripp Lite again. The quality is consistent and I have always been able to depend on getting exactly what I expect. In this particular case I needed a white cable to run up the baseboards of the stairwell from the router on the first floor to a second router that extends my wireless network on the second floor. The Tripp Lite cable did not curl or kink while I was manipulating it along the baseboards and around doorways. The result is almost invisible (see photo). This cable has met (and exceeded) my expectations. 4Works perfectly with my Medialink AC1200 Wireless Gigabit Router I purchased this to use with my Medialink AC1200 Wireless Gigabit Router. It works perfectly out of the box, and the extra length enabled me to hide the router behind some furniture. 5Tripp Lite for blazing fast Gigabit Ethernet! (Review by NJCELT my husband ITpro)For those of you not in the know, most routers and modems(all types) are shipped with a 4 wire cat5 fast Ethernet cable. The problem is most cable companies are delivering 60Mbps or faster nowadays.Shame on Comcast! They sent me a brand new docsis 3.0 telephony modem (latest standard)with a fast Ethernet cable. When l connected it all to my router, my speed was 20Mbps down 6Mbps up(wired or WiFi) I'll admit I've worked too close to computer screens and all parts, that keep them running and I'm sure I'll need a double lens prescription next year. Confused(rather then break out a magnifying glass, l call Comcast.) I tell them my speeds. Oh here's your problem sir, the automated activation for your modem didn't compete(what a surprise) l give the cmac information she needs to activate my modem manually. Luckily she took down my cell phone number, because you cannot send a reset command to a telephony modem WITHOUT disrupting the call. Note, after she calls back she tells me. Sir l set up a truck to roll over to your home tomorrow between 1-3pmbut if they find its your problem you get charged $40. Okay, know it's not my problem. After checking everything the guy tells me we need to replace the cable from your modem to your router,. I said what? Comcast sent me these! Now l break out the magnifying glass, see the 4 wire cat5 and say no that's okay.I ordered 4 of the 5' tripp lite CAT6 Gigabit cables(8 wire) for $24 plus free 2 day prime, and I'm happy to say everything after the modem is getting almost 95% of my payed for speed, of 72Mbps down.I do have a couple older CAT6 cables, and those will be saved as back ups, for relatives who getthe ugly yellow cable in the box with their new modem that Comcast swears is Gigabit..lolI'm starting a Cisco networking certification, so l can add that service to my clients. Twenty years in the system Bulger business and still learning new tricks.Tripp lite cables come work a lifetime warranty, and they do the job, plus you will be speed capable up to 1Gbps, that day will come to homes one day, but probably not for 5-10 years. Who cares, we'll be ready. Will you? 5Very good product, real CAT 6. no gimic like others Tripp lite is awesome, they deliver what they display. I have bought many of these cat6 cables, most of which I end up returning. Some so worthless that they are better recycled. I had bought Tripp lite cables before but could not find a match for my requirement until now. I was thrilled that they did customize sizes. I almost ended up buying a box along with a crimping tool to do it all myself until I saw this. 5
