Customer Reviews

Another Solid Tripplite Product. I'm generally a fan of TrippLite's commercial style (metal bodied) surge protectors, and this one no less than the 4 or 5 others I own. Just remember that this one comes with the sockets oriented either up and down or to the side. Depending on how you intends to mount it, pick carefully. Those with the sockets mounted facing the side are much less likely to have multiple outlets covered by wall warts (transformers). 5Great for what I bought it for! I bought this simply to allow me to have a long strip behind my home theater system in the den. It's wonderful - about the same length as the media console that I have my electronics on with plugs to spare if I need to plug something else up. I plan to buy another for the PC room at some point. It easily holds the charging blocks with enough space in between so that every outlet can be utilized.I can't speak much for the surge protection part of it. Since I live in a house built in 1959, I took it upon myself to save for the expense of having a whole home surge protector installed - along with some wiring upgrades and dedicated lines (by far, one of the best decisions I ever made). I didn't redo the wiring over the whole house but I did upgrades/dedicated lines in all the areas where pricey electronics dwelled. If you have invested a lot of money into electronics, high end appliances - whatever. I highly suggest you look into having a whole home surge protector installed. The cost alone was better than what I thought it would be and has saved me a lot of aggravation and replacing fried items over the past several years. 5Why didn't I purhcase this years ago? What a handsome surge protector strip! The finish and design are of strikingly good quality, as is typical of Tripp-Lite.As others have reviewed, the cord is extremely long. I plan on shortening it, but for now it sits folded under the table out of sight, and doesn't get in the way.Surge Protection is a must, and for the price it's a no-brainer.I was afraid the spacing was too close for each jack, but I could put a rather large wall wart on every spot and not have any issues.Bottom line, which is the same as the headline: why didn't I purchase this years ago??? 5Very high quality power strip at a good price I'm a ham radio operator, and have lots of things that need to be plugged in. The floor behind my radio desk was a tangled mass of wires and power strips. When something went wrong with a radio, power suply, or amplifier, it was a real pain to track down which wire went where. as well as a giant mess. This is a really big power strip. It's about 6 feet long, all metal, and very beefy. They include screws with wall anchors, but I wouldn't trust wall anchors with this. Once you add the weight of all the wall warts to the weight of the outlet strip, I wouldn't trust anything but screws in studs to support it.It comes with three plastic holders that snap on the strip to support it. I was a little leary about how well they would do, but they seem to be supporting the weight fine. The most important thing is to make sure that all three supports are level and at exactly the same height. You have to snap the strip into these supports, and even one out of alignment won't work. My radio equipment is all mounted on shelving units that sit on the desk, so I mounted the power strip at a level just above shelf units. It won't count as interior decorating with your significant other, but it will solve the problem of wires and power strips all over the floor.Note the 15 amp rating. Don't expect to use this for 24 things that are all drawing power at once. I do exceed the 15 amp rating when using my HF radio and amp, drawing about 23 amps. It's plugged into a 30 amp outlet, and I haven't experienced a failure yet, so the amperage rating appears to be conservative, but I'm still taking a risk by overstressing the power strip. I'll report back if I run into any problems. The 15 foot cord allows you enough length to reach the highest rated outlet you have in most rooms. The outlets are well spaced, and I've only lost one outlet to a really gigantic wall wart. I'm using 21 of the 24 outlets, so it's getting a good torture test. This strip costs less than 4 good quality 6 outlet strips, and is much more handy. Tripp Lite sells this same strip for 10 bucks less without a surge protector. Unless you already have a surge protector to use with the strip, the additional 10 bucks is well spent for the built in surge protector. Good stuff for a geek, or for business or lab use. 5Product works well and mouting was easy, once you get behind the desks and other ... Needed a large power strip for a revamp of a computer area in my home. Was tired of mixing and matching various small strips and plugging them into each other. This solved my issue as I have plenty of AC outlets now for all of my computer and gaming gear. Product works well and mouting was easy, once you get behind the desks and other obstructions but once in, I had zero issues. The cord is long and solid and I've run this to a standard US 110 outlet running 2 high performance PC's, monitors, printers and NAS devices (although the NAS are on UPS's that are plugged into the strip for data protection).Again, it works, it's Tripp Lite and I have known their products to be some of the best in class for years; so I'm very, very pleased. 5Perfect solution for getting rid of multiple floor surge protects for my audio equipment rack. I decided to completely re-wire my audio equipment and to get rid of the floor type surge protectors. I have an open 6 shelf audio rack that I purchased from Amazon over 10 years ago. The original length of this power strip was a little too long since the top shelf over hung the rack on all four sides. It was super easy to cut this strip down to a custom length. Unscrew the two end caps, use a hammer to gently move the rear section, use a hack saw to cut the metal top, snip the wires used to connect the outlets, remove the outlets(I removed two outlets), cut the back section, use a hammer to gently move the back section back into place and re-attach the two end caps using the screws. I also shortened the 15 ft AC cord to about 3 feet. Plugged it into an outlet and used my multi-meter to verify that I didn't short the internal wiring to the metal case. I then attached the power strip to the rear of my audio rack with the supplied mounting clips. No one will never know that I shorted both the metal strip and power cord, because it looks like it came from the factory this way. 5Well made and lots of outlets I ordered the Tripp Lite 24 Outlet Industrial Surge Protector Power Strip from Amazon, it arrived promptly. The power strip seems to be well made. I like the covered lighted power switch, and I like that this is a surge protector power strip since I am plugging computers and their peripherals into it. For me the 15' power cord is overkill, but better too long than too short, (I wish the power cord had a 90 flush plug). I mounted the 72" long power strip on the window sill behind our desks in our home office. Attaching the metal mounting clips was fairly easy. Because I was going thru plaster, I predrilled the holes centered 2" from the bottom of the window. The brackets only came with bolts and nuts for mounting on thin metal. I used drywall screws that were long enough to get into the wood in the sill. If you are mounting the power strip to hollow drywall, I recommend using proper drywall mounting anchors and bolts with beveled heads. The mounting brackets snap into grooves that run length wise along the bottom of the strip, snapping them into the grooves was a little tricky, but not that hard. The outlet orientation is length wise down the strip, and the spacing is close enough that larger transformer/power adapter packs will block the next outlet down. This bothered me at first, thought about returning the strip, until I realized that some of my transformers go across at 90 so either way transformers will be blocking outlets. The spacing is just part of having 24 outlets on a 72" strip, (20 outlets on the same 72" would have been more transformer friendly). Since most transformers are ungrounded, my work around is to use ungrounded plug adapters to raise up the transformers where necessary, and free up all of the outlets, I am also using grounded 3 outlet "T's" to raise up the transformer packs and giving myself more outlets at the same time. If you have the room you could use short 1' outlet saver extension cords instead. If most of the time you are just plugging in regular electric cords this is a handy power strip, if you have to plug in a lot of transformer packs, you might want to find a power strip with more spacing between the outlets. 4Best power strip for workbench use. Long cord. Perfect feature set. Protects expensive power tools. Highly recommended. Well worth the extra money. This is a truly heavy duty power strip which is much longer than I realized (a good thing in my particular situation). I love the spacing for power bricks. I love the outlet orientation which makes most power bricks line up the same direction as the power strip. I really love the fantastically long heavy gauge power cord which easily reached the inconveniently placed wall outlet under my workspace. Best of all, this power strip offers some protection and peace of mind when using my expensive set of power tools. I have added a total of three of these power strips to my various work tables now and still love them.Highly recommended! 5Close but not perfect. Waste a lot of unused outlet due to the design. I wish it was the other way so you can use more. 4The mother of all powerstrips, I should have bought this years ago Setting up a home office in a spare bedroom now that the kids are growing up and moving off to college. Now picture two computers, three or four monitors, a printer, a router, backup power supply, a network switch, port spliters, lights, speakers, chargers for various things, and all the other gadgetry that needs to be plugged in somewhere, many with their big fat wall transformers that block the outlets next to them.I was soooo done with crazy chains of cheap 6-outlet power strings plugged into other 6-outlet power strips plugged into extension cords plugged into whatever wall outlets could be reached, all feeding a rat's next of tangled power cords under the desk running to all the aforementioned equipment. (Sound familiar?)This 24-outlet power strip mounted alongside an 8' countertop desk surface elegantly solves the problem. Nothing is more than a foot or two from an outlet. Keep the power cords neatly coiled and tied with velcro and they never cross or tangle. And there are plenty of easily reachable open outlets.Just be mindful you don't exceed the rated current load on the circuit.Tripp Lite is a quality brand, by the way, it's why I chose this one. 5
