Customer Reviews

Received with a dented lid but otherwise a nice mailbox. For the money this is a nice mailbox. It is heavier than I expected (a good thing) and seems to be well built. Installation was a breeze. The plate that can be used to block the holes for privacy is attached with double stick tape. I would have preferred to have it slide into tabs on the inside so it could be easily removed if you changed your mind.Four screws are required to mount the magazine rack. I only received three.(Edit, I found the fourth screw under the bottom flap of packaging.)There was no padding on the inside of the box and I received my mailbox with a bend / dent on the top left hand corner of the lid. I didn't notice till I had it screwed to the wall. Still seems to operate OK.If it were not for the dent and missing screw I would have given it five stars. 3Looks great, solid Looks great, solid, BUT SIGNIFICANT RUST IN 10 months. Contacted Salisbury @Mailboxes.com - and they said "That unit is not made to be exposed to direct weather elements..." REALLY? Where would you mount, in your bedroom?!!! 1Sturdy, attractive mailbox Great, high-quality mailbox! Dissatisfied with the cheap, stamped steel, glossy-painted mailboxes I found at the local hardware stores, I found this one online. It is made with heavy gauge steel with an attractive matte finish. The square cutouts on the front are simple & classy; much nicer than a cheap-looking gold medallion or plastic eagle. It has plenty of room inside for lots of mail. It's great that you are given options: a privacy plate can be installed inside so mail cannot be viewed through the holes. Also, installation of the paper hooks at the bottom is optional. There is a rubber piece inside the lid so it is quieter when the lid is closed. It was a little more expensive than some I've seen at the store, but well worth the money. It is exactly what I was looking for. It came without mounting screws, which was no problem for me. 5Stylish Mailbox for Brick Wall Looks great on my brick wall. Easy for mailman to drop off mail. It can be a little difficult to reach inside and retrieve mail. Mail is sometimes far down inside the mailbox. Next time I would install it a little lower on the wall, which may help reaching inside for mail. Well made , sturdy mailbox. Note the red flag has to bought as a separate item. 5Beautiful mailbox! I wanted something different from the neighborhood ... Beautiful mailbox! I wanted something different from the neighborhood and affordable too. I bought this mailbox for both of my rental homes and it looks great! It rain twice and mail didn't got wet. I didn't used the adhesive tabs that come with it. Reason: they don't work. Then, I used a glue gun to glue the panel inside the mailbox & it didn't work. It kept falling. So I took a trip to Joann's and bought 'powertac glue'. This works wonders! It stayed on! Works perfectly against rain! I also glued the tiny numbers in the mailbox using 'powermac glue'. 5Poor design for mounting. Screws not included for mounting. The mounting holes are kind of badly placed. In fact, I have no idea how anyone could use the holes deep inside the box.Just a poor design? There's no guide included, so either there's some clever use that's beyond me, or there is an insane sadistic mailbox designer somewhere out there. I could use the top two holes, so the box is attached with two screws (not included!), which is adequate.Otherwise, it looks just like the picture and the metal is a good heavy gauge (the box is quite heavy for something like this). 2I highly recommend this product I've been looking for years for a heavy duty large mailbox. This was worth the wait! Holds catalogs, magazines, small packages and all our regular mail. I painted the insert gold and gorilla taped it so the mail stays dry. I highly recommend this product. 5This mailbox is super cute! I ordered a "used" mailbox to save ... This mailbox is super cute! I ordered a "used" mailbox to save some money and the one I recieved looked brand new. Someones return was my fortune! I have received lots of compliments on it. I did not put the insert in to "hide" the mail. I hung the box on vinyl siding and felt the extra insert made the box too heavy. The box is already pretty heavy. 5THIB IS THE VERY BEST MAILBOX WE HAVE EVER OWNED.... WELL MADE AND MADE IN THE USA This is the very best mailbox we have ever owned. It is more expensive than I wanted to spend on a new mailbox, but it is so beautiful and designed to last a lifetime. I love it, love it, love it!!! It even has a bumper underneath the lid so that when it closes it does not make any noise. My compliments to the Salsbury Industries for this well-made and wonderful mailbox. I recommend it without any reservations to anyone looking for a well-made mailbox... the fact that it is made in the USA is a wonderful aspect of it as well. 5Love the Mailbox; Have Solution for No Wet Mail Issue This turned out great. I put it on front of a historical brick house. I like how there is no lock feature as it is easy to get out the mail. This mailbox is not covered by a roof or awning so I was concerned about mail getting wet. There is a metal plate that can be attached with double stick foam/tape but based on a few comments it sounded like there was still an issue with mail getting wet (small gap b/c foam tape is about 1/16" thick). So I decided to try using a magnetic vent cover, which I got at Home Depot (pack of 3, 8"x15" for under $5). I just cut the magnetic sheet down so that it fit into the front of the mail box. Since the mailbox is metal the magnetic sheet stuck immediately, snug to the mailbox and completely covered all the holes. My mail has been very dry and we've had heavy rain. NOTE: This works really well for a black mailbox since the magnetic side of the vent cover is black. 5
