Customer Reviews

Does what it's supposed to As advertised. Only knocked a star off for the value. Like many have said, you could do the same thing with double sided tape for MUCH cheaper, but then again, you would be taping onto your TV and Apple TV. That turned me off, only because I know adhesives become less effective with heat, and it may fail at some point. That being said, it fit nicely in the vertical vents on the top part of my Samsung 40". Yes, the remote actually works bouncing off the ceiling surprisingly. I have the tv wall mounted and pushed all the way back, and it works fine. As advertised. 4So simple and effective that it's almost scary! I love my Apple TV. I use it every day. However, it's a small little thing... tiny compared to the other electronics sitting in the entertainment center... so hiding it seemed like a smart thing. And with TotalMount is WAS a smart thing.I was worried that I wouldn't have access to the IR of the AppleTV if I used this mount to clip it to the back of my flat screen, but it does, in fact, WORK.You get a many different types of mounting "clips" that can be used in a variety of different situations. The unit also allows you to screw it into something - walls, cabinets, etc. So there are a myriad of different places and ways you can mount your AppleTV out of sight... or in sight... I don't care what you do with it...it's YOUR TotalMount... not mine... I personally wanted it out of sight.I'm saving up the cash to buy another one for my bedroom where this is NO room on the dresser drawer to put things down on. 5Basic and gets the job done Really everything you need to know about this mount is in the description. It has three methods of mooting, either to your TV mount (with velcro straps), to your wall (with two screws), or to your TV itself (using plastic hooks and the TV ventilation openings). The hooks can be used to mount it either horizontally or vertically, and the mount comes with a large assortment of different types to make sure that you can find the right ones to work with your TV.I personally opted to just use the screws, as two tiny screw holes in my wall don't really bother me.The mount itself fits the Apple TV perfectly, its snug, but not so tight that inserting or removing the Apple TV is an issue, and the opening allows for plenty of room to access all of the ports. If you're worried about being able to control the Apple TV with your remote, don't. I was a little skeptical of the remote signal bouncing off of walls or the ceiling but it works exceptionally well. Honestly I don't even have to point my remote at the ceiling, just in the general vicinity of the TV like I normally would and everything works fine. 5Great idea, but needs stronger hooks It does what it's supposed to, and they include screws and "sticky" adhesives so you can put the mount in different locations. But I wanted it on the back vents of my TV and not have to mount anything else to my wall. The plastic "hooks" that go inside of your TV's vents are extremely flimsy, and once bent they are difficult to realign and placed inside the vents. This wouldn't have been much of an issue if the TV were not wall mounted, but since it was, I didn't have much room to use my hands and place the hooks into the vents.Alas, I did get some of the hooks in the vents and due to the AppleTVs relatively low weight, it held on and continues to do so. And side note, for all those skeptics like me about not being able to use the remote because the AppleTV is behind the TV, it works just fine. You just need to angle the remote slightly above the TV and voila. 4Great mounting option! For what this cost it is great. It was fast and easy to install and came with several mounting options. It comes with several size hooks to attach to your TV vents on the back as well as some double sided tape and screws if you want to attach to a wall. My Apple TV fit securely into the mount and is now hidden out of the way behind my TV. My remote works great as long as I aim it between the top of the TV and the ceiling somewhere. The quality of the product as well as the instructions are great. If you want a convenient way to mount a 3rd gen Apple TV then look no further because you've found it! 5... holds the Apple TV well and the plastic is pretty beefy but the mounting system leaves something to be ... It holds the Apple TV well and the plastic is pretty beefy but the mounting system leaves something to be desired. The adhesive has failed on both causing my ATV to plummet to the ground (at 3 am when it scared me senseless)Its an ok buy, but bring your own tape 2Clever Solution for Hidden Apple TV - Mounted 17" Below Top of TV Ordinarily, I don't get very excited about products such as these. But having dealt with the special care and attention needed for my third-generation Apple TV to enable remote control functionality has been DAUNTING!I have a multimedia stand in my master bedroom and I don't like the Apple TV sitting on top of the wood. So, it has been hidden in the closed media compartment until now. The trouble with that is the infrared remote signals do not penetrate through wood or the very small cracks where the compartment closes. I've had to hold the remote at all sorts of funny ways and usually still never get a hit. I don't like keeping that compartment open at night because my cable modem and router are also neatly hidden in there and have bright LED lights that are disruptive to sleep. I like it dark.Introduce this TotalMount Apple TV mount - the perfect solution for someone who likes to keep the Apple TV hidden away but still have the remote work.Let us quickly acknowledge that each television manufacturer has unique vent opportunities in the back. I have a 47" Sony whose vents are NOT within 6" of the top; they are 17" below. The mounting instructions indicate the mount should be placed within 6" of the top of the television in order to enable maximum remote success. The only way I could have done that would have been with the included adhesive mount option. I really did not want to put permanent adhesive on the rear of my television set. So instead of pursuing that, I tried the various mounting hooks on the vent nearer to the bottom half of the television. When I decided which vent clip hooks worked best, I attached them to the mount and seated it. I deployed my Apple TV and reconnected everything. I crossed my fingers because I was concerned that the mount being 17" from the top of the TV set would preclude any sort of remote success.Well, I'm pleased to report that I have no problems with the remote connectivity. I don't need to aim it any strange way or toward the ceiling; as long as it is aimed within 140 degrees or so toward the direction of the television, it works! This solution is perfect for any owner of Apple TV generations 1-3. I have a gen 4 in my living room which utilizes Bluetooth connectivity instead of infrared. It's a shame apple didn't use RF or Bluetooth in the earlier models, but this solution solves the problem. I may pick up another for my guest room so that Apple TV can also be hidden behind the TV.Thank you for this outstanding innovation at a great price! 5Polished Apple Accessory! This is a handy little item. It stops Apple TV from falling off your TV stand and onto the floor!! Mine never stayed where I put it. The cables were the culprit and my cats would walk under the TV and get tangled up in them so, Apple TV would end up on the floor. This is VERY easy to set up. It comes with a variety of clips to hook it onto the back of your TV. You can anchor it to the wall or your TV wall mount if you'd like. I had no problem at all trying to get the remote to communicate with it. The signal to the back of my TV worked just fine! I wish I purchased this accessory with my Apple TV when I first bought it. The only thing I would suggest to the manufacturer is this would be even better if it came with adhesive Velcro if you don't want to use the screws in your wall. Other than that this is a MUST have for your Apple TV!! I'd give it more raves if I could! 5Easy, tool-less installation Check your TV for venting in the back. Do you have some? Then this is a good product to hold your Apple TV. It comes with three different sizes of hooks for different sized vents. I don't know if there's a way to tell if they'll fit yours until you get the package, but the three styles of hooks have fit all the vents on the various TVs in my house so it's a safe bet that they will work with yours. There is also a way to mount it to the wall mount if your TV is using one, but I didn't try it on any of mine. The kit comes with two velcro bands as well, so you can find SOME option to get it to mount behind your TV. The reason I gave it 5 stars is because it includes enough parts that it'll mount without having to dig into your miscellaneous mounting supplies. My next fear was the while behind the TV IR remote issue. If you're like me, you won't believe it from just reading a review, but I'll throw positive experience in the mix anyway. I tried this mount on two wall mounted TVs, one on the flat face of a wall and one mounted in the corner and I tried this on a stand mounted TV in a cabinet. All worked perfectly, no goofy moves needed with the Apple TV remote. The mounting was VERY easy and the remote worked perfectly while mounted behind the TV. A must have for Apple TV owners who are mounting away from an entertainment or shelf system. 5Works great. Works great when mounted on the back of the tv for my application which was hidden. I mounted our tv and built a sliding cover for - but I wanted to be able to slide the cover back while the tv was swung out. Having the Apple TV mounted to the tv made it easy to still use the remote without having to see it. 5
