Prism effect The screen protector it's easy to install, just be careful not to touch it with your fingers before you apply it, only touch the black boarder!That said ,there is a MAJOR problem, what happens is that it creates a prism effect on the pixels and you will have a very annoying eye tiring effect, NOT RECOMMENDED FOR GRAPHICS AND PHOTOGRAPHY WORK!If you don't really care about the image quality it's ok as anti glare option, just ok though. 1Not impressed at all. I was excited when this arrived today. Upon opening the package I noticed that the only thing in the package was the screen protector. There are a few problems with this product. The glue on the adhesive part is excessively sticky. I wish I would have known that only the border of this screen protector adhered to the screen. Awful design in my opinion, and it leaves room between the matte clear protector and the physical screen which in the world of computers is no good. Even though you clean the screen it doesn t matter because you can see the picture above what happens when you press the protector against the screen.The protective film covering the adhesive only covers the adhesive. Meaning that your raw hands, including the oils are now on the back of the screen protector, which will be up against your computer screen, so you can see how this would come to be an issue.Honest opinion? I am not impressed in the least bit. It s not a good design, the execution is poor, and the product just lacks any sort of quality.I will have to find another anti-glare screen protector for my computer because this simply will not work. 2Take your time It's always critical to put a screen protector on. Make really sure you are in a kind of a dust-free environment. Take your time. I allowed myself about 20 minutes to clean my screen from dust, spots and fingerprints. The static may attract dust and cat or dog hair. So really be patient and careful. What I didn't notice first was that the mask that had to be pulled off was just around the frame and not over the whole protector. So make extra sure that there is no dust on the protector. It worked for me pretty well without any bubbles forming. Placing it correctly is not that easy. Focus on the camera cut out and the "MacBook Pro" on the bottom to start placing it. Then I carefully covered the screen from the middle to the left and right side. It worked well. The protector will not give you such a good result as the original matt screen that was available for the 15" MBP but it serves the purpose. The screen protector is not flimsy but pretty stiff which actually should help you prevent any bubbles. I guess the bubbles form more likely where there is grains, dust and hairs. 4Works, mostly... I'm not impressed by this one. I bought one of these some years ago for a 2012 MAcBook Air 11" from another site and it fit fine, it even installed easier (I installed it in Kuwait, sand everywhere, and it was easier than this one). I don't know if the other site sold this exam make, but I'll just note that.This one from Top Case is made in China - something I didn't expect because I figured the one I bought before worked like a charm and is still sitting on my Air from 4 years ago - during it's job as well as it ever did on day one. This is is not the case, and it's only been on my MAcBook Pro (13", 2015, Retina) for about 10 minutes.It took over half an hour to get this thing right. The borders are about .25mm too wide on both sides I had to cut two of the bottom corners off by a small margin for it to fit. Before this the screen and back of the protector were a royal, tremendous pain to clean off thoroughly with the absolute garbage microfiber cloth provided. I ended up using a beanie I had to do the same thing. I'm in a different country now in a much more sterile environment but the cleanliness issue isn't much of the point and not the problem for the manufacturer.This works by having the adhesive on only the black border, which is great. I don't like to mess with full-film protectors on huge screens. I have no problems on phones and small tablets, but my iPad and Mac are always crappy to apply them so I prefer this type - nothing sticks to the screen itself. But, the borders again are the problem. They need to remove an eighth of a millimeter from every side to fit this thing just right.It works though, once you get it installed just right.So I rate it a 3 because you need to be in a sterile environment to clean you screen well, then to clean the back of the protector from fingerprints and dust, and the cloth they provide is trash. The backing to the protector part only covers the border so anything will stick to the actual protector part, watch for that.If they were to provide a better cloth and a better adhesive backing (covering the entire protector), I can deal with the rest and would rate it a 4 out of 5. Should they trim the edges ever so slightly, a 5/5.Unless your screen is off you can't really see any small particles that may have trapped themselves in between the screen anyway - it's only visible while off. I don't care about that. I didn't buy my mac to look good, it just happens to be sexy. The display is still very clear, though the protector looks like crap when not applied (it's very fuzzy, but don't let that fool you). There is no noticeable quality of picture loss for me. I can still see HD videos on various sites and read small text just fine.I will probably be getting a different screen protector later however, though this one will do the job if you get one that fits better and can clean everything more thoroughly. 3/5 because it definitely works, is very clear, but is hard as hell to clean and fit right. 3Will Cause Headaches Ladies and gents. I hope someone reads this and takes it into consideration before making the purchase. It does stop reflections and glare for the most part, but this product creates a look to the monitor that gives me such a headache from eyestrain, trying to read my screen. I ended up purchasing a Brand called DayVue. so if you don't want headaches check them out.I attached the a photo when I wrote them to complain with no response. This is how it looked all the time. You can see the pixelation from the camera but the words is what I want you too see. I couldn't capture the foggy look but the words are har to read because they start to merge because of how unclear the protector is 2My laptop is basically destroyed from this darn thing! Don't buy! After a year it will start to bubble. After two years it will not be removable and you will have to scrap it off the laptop monitor. I tried to remove it by peeling a corner away, impossible. Last resort was to take a razor and peel a corner back, wrong move, I peeled my monitor. Laptop looks terrible now that the screen has a large blemish. 1Why didn't I buy this sooner? Wow. I've had this screen protector on for all of five minutes now and I already wish I'd bought it years ago.It's great. Look, can you still see a tiny bit of glare? Yes. But it is INFINITELY better, I don't have any bubbles, and my touch screen looks fine.Also, I don't have a Mac, I have an Acer Aspire S7, which is also 13". It fits my screen pretty perfectly and went on easily. The only problem I can see is cosmetic, since my laptop is white and the frame of this is black. And I guess the picture is a tiny bit less crisp. But, as someone who gets migraines triggered by glare (among other things), it is totally worth it.Edited to add: Since I pull the glare protector on and off all the time (sometimes you just want crystal clear vision), now, two years later, the border has FINALLY lost its sticking abilities. So I'm back to buy a new one. That's how much I like this thing. If you TRULY have a problem with glare, as I do with my migraines, this is an incredible purchase. I tried buying one of those kuzy cling on anti-glare things, but it's honestly not enough. If you're looking for anti-glare without sacrificing clarity, go for one of those. But if you're after easy installation (I fought that kuzy cling thing for at least fifteen minutes), or the best anti-glare you can find, get one of these. Better yet, do as I'm about to do, and combine the two! 5Great Screen Protector I've had this on my Mac now for several months. The main reason I got it was to reduce the strain on my eyes (per my docs recommendation) and to help cut back on fingerprints which drive me crazy! This screen protector has accomplished both quite well! The only downside, like several other customers mentioned, is the graininess. To say I've gotten used to it is an overstatement. Generally I can look past it and don't think much about it when I'm working, but it is definitely noticeable and against white backgrounds (like Amazon review pages) can be quite distracting. It does not affect picture viewing or watching movies though which is great! That issue alone isn't enough for me to not recommend the product. I had no problems installing it, bubble free, and the fit is exact. 4Does not fit pre-retina 13" MacBook Pro, very reflective and leaves adhesive residue This screen protector is very glossy and reflective and, I would imagine, would make the display more difficult to see. It was also cut about 1mm too tall to fit the display of my 2012 13" MacBook Pro (which it claims to fit), so I can't verify my previous assessment. I did manage to get it to "fit", if you want to call it that, and you could see the plastic physically warping to the point that it pressed against the screen and created an oil-spot sort of effect. Useless, and when I removed it, it left adhesive all around the edges of my screen that was a PITA to remove. Tossed it in the trash as it's not even worth my time to seek a refund. 1Please Read! I was under the impression that everything would be sticky when you remove the tab but it's only the black edges. Make sure to wipe the back or else you'll get some dust or fur (if you have a pet) left behind. Luckily, I only had on really small one pet hair show up but it's not at all noticeable. The screen protector itself is matte. I can't tell you if it's good or not because that's subjective but be warned, non matte users, this screen protector will ADD GRAIN to your display which might not look good for you because the A1278 does not have a retina display. If you don't like that, I recommend going with a clear screen protector. However, this screen protector does protect against fingerprints, smudges, and glare so it's a very fair trade off. Everything is legible by the way, these reviewers love to exaggerate. (It just doesn't look that way from the photos) 5
