Customer Reviews

Great Bag as long as ur not trying to stuff too many books into it! I was looking for a good bag and this definitely fits that category. Now the reason i gave it three stars is because although u may find reviews about the space and size of the bag, let me tell you that the bag DOES NOT FIT A LOT OF THINGS WIDTH WISE. This means that for the student (I am a high school senior and I am heading off to college), it is difficult to fit a lot of books inside without stacking. This results in another problem, where the access of the books located on the bottom because quite a chore. So if you are looking for a bag with space for a lot of books, look elsewhere.Although this may seem like a big complaint, it is my only gripe. This bag is fantastic! The bag looks awesome, if you are looking for something urban and minimalistic yet utilitarian, this is your bag, i really like the cinch closing system on the top.Laptop protection is really good, the portion for your laptop is treeco coated so no scratches, there is a decent amount of padding, but the best and most ingenious design is the way the pouch for the laptop is positioned above the bottom of the bag. Your laptop is nowhere near the bottom of the bag, making it impossible to damage your expensive laptop when you throw your bag to the ground unintentionally. This design is possible through the use of one big backpiece that is rather solid and I believe made of eva impact foam. This material also means it hugs the contours of your body when you wear it.All in all, this bag is great if you're trying not to stuff to many books into it like I am. 4Great for short trips and daily use Bought this for my work trips. Durability and weather resistance are fantastic. The external MOLLE straps are great if you need to extend the capacity. But honestly, I have not ever ran out of space yet. I usually carry ad macbook 15" (as big as you can really carry) and an ipad pro 12.9" along with toiletries, about 3 nights of clothes, electronic accessories, and still have a little room to spare.I've packed this to the top, worried it might look wierd or compromise the contents inside. It doesn't look too weird, but there will be some gaps that elements may get in and out of.When the bag is packed, as some of the other reviews have mentioned, becomes really tight as well as the bottle holder. But for the most part, it's a great bag.My most used feature is the top zip to access my laptop/ipad. 5Solid pack at a great price I decided I needed a new travel backpack to allow me to carry a bit more on board for some long trips this year. I looked at a lot of brands and options, but I am a fan of Timbuk2, so I looked at their line the most, including at their company store near my house. Lots of the high-end travel packs they make seem nice, but I came across design flaws that were important to me in every one. While doing research of all brands online, this pack kept popping up as a great one, at a good price. I decided to give it a try before the first of my international trips where I needed to use it, and I am glad I did. This pack has a lot of capacity and still fits nicely under most airplane seats. The fold down top and closure really allows it to be packed with a lot or a little. The back-side laptop compartment entry is really handy, too. Some small complaints: its hard to get to your stuff packed all the way at the bottom, but mostly what I'd expect for a high capacity top-load bag. The water bottle pocket could be a bit larger to keep a larger bottle secure, but it's mostly fine. The front accessory pockets get a little tight and hard to put stuff into and access when the main compartment is stuffed, but still did the job.Would buy again. 4and I can still say I freaking love this backpack I bought this a year ago, and I can still say I freaking love this backpack. My favorite part about it is the super slim profile. You can fit a ton of things in here but it doesn't bulge out and pull back like a lot of backpacks do. It also has two sleeves for your laptop and tablet if you roll all fancy like that. The multiple pockets on the front and on the inside are super nice. I have to carry around medication and the inner pocket is a perfect, secure but accessible place to keep it. Another awesome feature is the zipper on the back for laptop access. I use that all the time when I just need my computer but don't need to dig through the bag.The only draw back is it only has one side pocket for a water bottle. I wish there were two so I could slip my phone/keys in the other one. I woucl also love a hip strap, but that is just because I carry around a ton of books. Otherwise, I really love it and would buy it again. I even raved about it so much a girl in my class went out and bought her own! 5This is a great backpack that offers a little more room than your ... This is a great backpack that offers a little more room than your standard school backpack. I like the option of stuffing my jacket in the top when not needed. The molle webbing is nice, but I don't attach a lot of extra pouches or gadgets. Usually just a carabiner on the front and I stuff my umbrella into the side webbing when needed. The napolean pocket is handy for plane tickets, wallet, headphones, things you usually need quick access to, but it's nice and hidden (I got the New Black) so it's not obvious there's a pocket there. I also like the back zip for quick access to my laptop when going through airport security. Not too big a fan of the straps, which seems standard for Timbuk2 (had very similar straps on my Swig), as I find them a little thin and hard, not super comfortable for really long periods of time or heavy weight. But I would still recommend it for the other positive qualities. 4Excellent Backpack!!! Excellent Backpack!!! I've been a pretty loyal Timbuk2 shopper for several years. I stick pretty much to the Classic Messenger bag, occasionally getting one of the variations. This time around I thought I'd get a backpack. I previously had an ASUS ROG Nomad for my laptop. I wanted something that had just as much room and I wasn't real worried if it couldn't carry my 17.3" laptop because I have a 15" also. This backpack does have a sleeve that fits my 15" laptop and still enough room for all my peripherals. To my surprise this backpack still fits my 17.3" gaming laptop if I don't put it in the sleeve. It's comfortable, easily adjusts. I love the weatherproof of the materials. Several people have asked me about the bag and I'm happy to tell them. It's great! All of my Timbuk2 bags have been/are awesome! This is definitely one of my favorites. 5Great bag, especially for bike commuters, shrugs off rain like a champ. I have been carrying a classic Jansport backpack for about 13 years now, and I it has served me well. I often commute by bike and I found that such a bag does not hold heavier loads well, and does not keep loads close and stable very well. A laptop makes the Jansport bag very uncomfortable, even on foot. I did some research and read some favorable reviews of this bag. It seemed like a great price, I liked the aesthetic and I like the MOLLE style webbing a lot. The first thing that struck me is just how compact this bag is when it's loaded with say, a laptop, a U-lock, and a few daily essentials. The second thing that struck me is how much crap you could stuff in and still close the pack. This is a 30+ liter pack when you need it to be. It sits high on the back (ideal for cycling, pretty comfortable for everything up to a day hike), it handles weather beautifully, and it looks pretty cool. The craftsmanship seems great so far. I am pretty pleased with this purchase.Update: I just got home from the wettest bike commute of my life. The chirp of a flash-flood warning came out of my cell phone twice over the course of the 5 mile trip. The second time was around mile four, and I suddenly remembered the important documents that I had hurriedly stuffed in the laptop pouch of this bag the other day. I knew that this bag had kept things dry in normal rain before, but I was fairy certain, given how wet my clothes were, that they were ruined. I was glad I didn't have my laptop with me. I got home, peeled off my wet clothes, and checked in that pouch to find that the papers were intact, and bone-dry. The outside of the bag looked downright soggy, and is not advertised as waterproof, but I found no trace of moisture had penetrated the bag at all, let alone into the laptop pocket. If I could give it six stars, I would. This is one of the best purchases I have ever made. I will be picking up another soon, just in case they discontinue it. 5versatile pack Been using this as my primary backpack for three years now. Lots of compliments! Pretty good pack, just wish it was built better.Pros:chest strapvery versatile pack - roll-top is SUPER handy to have, Front velcro holds my bike lock in placewater bottle pocket (never owning a pack without one)Solid comfort levelCon:Not the greatest materials (Made in China) - a couple seams are ripping, water bottle meshing ripped early on, on one side the waterproof backing is crumbling off.(personal con: The outer velcro attracts everything, endless fuzzes caught in there, and has ruined multiple sweaters/scarves) 3Exactly what I needed. Looks great with functional performance to match! Perfect size for work! Excellent security & weight distribution. Love the styling and molle webbing. I got tired of lugging around a messenger bag which scuffed up expensive delicate fabric of shirts I wear at work (it was also a Timbuk2 product). This is much easier to grab, put on, & go compared to my old messenger bag. No more sore shoulder from an overloaded shoulder bag. The grey/green color is unique and looks great, imho. The pockets have internal storage sleeves for pens & other small misc items like phone chargers & cables. The wide open main compartment has separate sleeves for my laptop & tablet. Very well thought out and implemented. The removable sternum strap is everything it needs to be and nothing too gaudy. There were no frayed stitches and the quality of craftsmanship is way up there with some of the best bags I own. Highly recommend this for the tech warrior who is constantly on the move! 5Everything I've been looking for- and more A+ I'm a graphic design student, advent biker/ longboarder, as well as constant walker (I live 1 mile by my campus so I walk daily) I've been looking for a backpack that is high quality/ has great durability/ and has a lot of storage space (with a good price) for a long time and I'm happy to say that I finally found it! This bag offers a lot of support as well, with the cushioned bit on the back, along with buckle pieces for the chest and adjustable straps for those who need it closer or looser to their body. This bag fits EVERYTHING. My 15" laptop in a sleeve, lunch bag, a couple note books, laptop charger, planner, my chromebook and tablet too if I wanted it (all in the big compartment. I'm exceptionally impressed as well with the other compartments that will hold things like my phone, keys, wallet, pencils/ pens, etc. You name it, and it can hold it-- I've attached a series of pictures as well with how deep the pockets go and with low LARGE the water bottle holder is. That was also a concern/ important piece for me. It's been able anything from a small mason jar to a large water bottle-- the mesh is very deep and stretchy.PROS:-very lightweight on its own- glad it's not adding extra weight itself!-lots of storage space- I literally can fit my laptop, a small laptop, charger, phone charger, a lunch bag, folders/notebooks, and some peddly little things and the bag looks slim and good.-two slide in protectors for a laptop and a tablet or something similar/ tech based-lots of storage for small items like coins, pencils/ pens, keys, in the bag as well in the pouches on the outside-it has a back zipper that allows you to enter the bag through the back-tons of front hoops which I'll be clasping add-ons to fit even more things, as well as use for decor (patches and buttons)-waterproof! I live in Minnesota, so we get a lot of wild weather. I've had it in the downpouring rain, nothing got wet and just rolled off my bag. I've had it in the drizzling snow/ blizzard, which has surprisingly kept things at a good temperature, I'm not sure what that cap might be as I haven't personally measured that but it keeps things cool and warm-- great for technology.CON:-literally the only thing is that my laptop fits in the sleeve but it's not deep enough for the clasp part to shut and have it fit in properly, I have a 15.6" so I just kept it in its own sleeve and put my folders/ notebooks in the sleeve compartment in place of. (see pictures) But honestly I don't care because I use that compartment for other things like my notebooks, chromebook, etc.....-the black picks up quite a bit of lint/ dust, but that can be easily wiped off 5
