Customer Reviews

Good cooler for 15 inch laptop Fits 15 inch laptop, adjustable airflow, low noise, steel mesh is sturdy, two retractable legs, LED can be turned off, USB port is not lost as the connector has one behind it.My fan and LED lights suddenly stopped working this week (12/29). It was not eligible for return and I liked the fan so decided to troubleshoot myself. I noticed it works when I press and hold the rotary button for fan speed. After little inspection I found a connector in the top left corner of the steel mesh. It got stuck in steel mesh as there was some slack in steel mesh and connector became loose. There are no screws holding the mesh, ends are bent in the frame to hold it in place. I straightened the two steel mesh ends near the top left corner, lifted the mesh, pressed the connector firmly in place and pressed back the mesh back in place (tighter than it was before to ensure there is no more slack). Now the fan is working full speed. 5DEAR LORD IT'S HUGE. This is is an absolutely ginormous laptop cooler. It purports to be able to hold 19" laptops. My 15" machine looks like a toy when sitting on top of it.Pros: The fan is huge and runs very quietly. There's a dedicated fan speed controller, which many cheaper cooling pads lack. There are two buttons to control the RGB LEDs. The LED light show this thing puts out is complete phantasmagoria. It's like the outside of a futuristic nightclub for laptops. Fortunately, the lights can be turned off because they might be distracting at times. Powered by USB, with a pass through. Handy if you're short on ports.Cons: It really is gargantuan. Plan on freeing up some desk space for this thing. The USB cord it comes with is short and proprietary. It's USB A to [barrel connector]. You might need a USB extension cable. The LEDs are only on the outside ring of the cooler. The fan has clear blades but doesn't light up. This isn't so bad as you basically never see it. It's three times the price of the cheap Chinesium units, but Thermaltake is a known brand and you get what you pay for.I heartily recommend this cooler if you have the budget, desktop space and need for RGB LEDs. 5An RGB lit laptop stand first, and a laptop cooler second (if at all) Moves a disappointing amount of air, considering the size of the fan. I wish the dial went up further because the fan isn't that loud even on max, and I'v used thermaltake big fans in the past, so I know these can go faster.Even if the fan would spin faster, the airflow is not very directional. This means that it does a better job of pushing air around the sides of my (15.6") laptop and cooling my palms when typing than it does cooling the hot-running i7 7700HQ in the MSI laptop i'm using it with, even though the laptop has big open vents directly above the center of the fan. This fan seems like it would be more effective as a static pressure exhaust than a directional fan. Honestly, I don't know how much of a difference this really made in my temps, as there are too many variables at play. It might be a few C cooler than before, but was just hoping for a bigger more appreciable difference. The lighting is the best part of the device, and even that is just OK compared to the RGB lighting in every other device in my setup. Keeping it on a solid shade of red makes it go really nice with my desktop and other nearby nerdy gear and input devices, but putting it on any of the other modes is just obnoxious. I have no idea who would actually WANT this thing to be strobing the lights. The rainbow mode where the colors circle around the edge would looks cooler if it was smoother. The only mode that's tolerable is where all the lights slowly transition between the colors simultaneously.Overall, if you're looking at this thing because you think that a big fan is gonna move big air straight up into the bottom of your laptop and reduce your load temps... maybe look elsewhere. I know I will be. 3It's okay Well I've been using this for more than a month by now and the result is "meh" kinda product.Aesthetic wise it does look nice. The build design is nice, look badass, having that metal feels even though it's just plastic.Lightings are nice though don't have much choices, I usually just leave it on rainbow like you saw in the video. 1 downside for me is they use 2 USB 2.0 ports on my laptop, I have to use a splitter for this alone.Performace:It's nothing special OR I might say, don't help much. The fan is silence, even at full speed. BUT don't help much in temperature. As you can see the picture. That is me running game Anthem at High settings on Acer Predator Helios 300 on boost mode. Yes CPU topped 98-100 ALWAYS. Even with fan on and room is 70~ ish degree. So yeah it's nothing muchHowever. on smaller task like watching movie and play lighter CPU/Graphic games It does help a couple like 5-8*C. Very noticeable in DarkSoul 3. Before I tend to have frame drop but with the fan on I don't anymore so I guess it not too bad.Over all yeah. I give it 3 stars for the nice looking laptop risers and the lighting. But honestly it don't cool your laptop much so dont expect too much 3Performing as Expected Currently own two of these fans. Have had the first fan about 2 years, and the second fan about a year. Both are used almost daily. Both fans are essentially quiet at their highest speed level. Both reduce the laptop's internal heat, while reducing the frequency of when the laptop's internal fan runs.Neither came with a "Y" cable. Both use only a single port of the laptop they are connected to; and both provide a USB "port" built into the cooling fan's USB connector as show in one of the photos. In my situation, the built in USB "port" is used for the wireless mouse receiver without issue. Thus, the cooling fan's USB connection is for my laptop USB port count neutral.Others have purchased this fan with my recommendation, and have been using them without issue. The investment cost for the first fan, which cost more than the second fan, has been approximately $0.032 per day of actual use. The second fan's cost has been approximately $0.06 per day of actual use. Of course, with each additional day of use the investment cost for utilization decreases. This excludes any consideration for reducing possible maintenance costs and extending the life cycle of the laptops they are attached to. And based on the length of time of ownership the actual cost is even less. In my opinion, cooling fans are and excellent investment. My ownership of laptops dates back to 1994. All of my laptops have been operated while sitting on external cooling fans. The longest I owned one of my laptops was a little over 11 years. It still worked when I gave it away, and it still works today. It has always been operated with a cooling fan running underneath it. (It is on its second external fan.) 4Thermaltake never dissapoints Needed a cooling stand for my laptop. I do some video editing on it and my son plays games on it when my main computer is being used for work. so noticed during the last render stage it was getting a little crispy even though i installed a new internal cooling fan and new artic silver. since ive started using the stand the heat has no longer been an issue. So far i love it i run thermal take fans and tower in my main pc and have no complaints. the 200mm fan does not let me down on the laptop cooling side at all. it is quiet even when at full speed the then built in LEDs can be turned off. There are two height settings to give you a comfortable angle. and there are plenty of inlets for the fan to pull fresh air from.Pros:keeps laptop cooladjustable fan speed200mm cooling fanruns quietCons:wish it was RGBa little small when used with a 17" laptop 4Great laptop cooler for low price, although slightly small in size I got this cooler for my Lenovo Y40 14 inch cos it s battery had to be changed couple of times due to quick wear-out (thankfully I had 2yr extended warranty). Since the Y40 was coming to the end of warranty and usually battery wear has something to do with the heat, I bought this to keep in my office (I had another brand cooler for home too).In short:Pros:- Well built, especially for the price- Barely audible (if any)- Blue LEDs (although they re hard to see when there s a laptop on it)- Adjustable fan speed- LED on/off buttonCons:- Maybe a bit small for any laptop over 15 inchesUsed it for some months now, so far so good, just working as it supposed to be. Only change I had to was adding a USB cable extension (since I was plugging it to my external monitor instead of the laptop itself. But if you plug it to the laptop cord length is more than enough).Since its only one large fan it is supposed to be quieter than ones with multiple small fans. TBH I ve not noticed it working (and my office is not a noisy place either).Only concern I can think of is the size; although they advertise it Compatible with 17" notebooks and below , even my 14 inch Y40 is almost the size of the cooler.Anyway, I ve moved to an Alienware 13 now and the cooler still fits and works fine. I ve not done any extensive testing with measuring temps with and without, but will update if anything goes wrong.Especially for the price, I cant think of anything bad about it.Please click the Yes button below if my review helped you. Thanks! 5Fantastic Looking Cooling Pad for the price Fantastic Looking Cooling Pad for the price. This is the first ever cooling pad that I had purchased for my Alienware 15 R4 (2018) laptop. Anyone who owns an Alienware laptop will know they tend run on the hotter side. I keep the fan on the high mode which is still very quiet, so quiet I worry it stopped working. Being that this is my first laptop cooling fan ever, I am wondering if its strength is too low when its running. I have nothing to compare it too, so it could be working just fine. it blows air, just mild which could be normal for what these products do. I do have it turned up all the way as well. Its cut down my temps from 55-65 c at idle to 45-55 c. I also love that its the only laptop fan that I seen that comes with a power adapter option to plug in (you have to supply your own plug). I bought a universal adapter by SoulBay ( 30W Universal AC/DC Adapter Switching Power Supply with 8 Selectable Adapter Tips & Micro USB Plug, for 3V to 12V Household Electronics and LED Strip - 2000mA Max) (seen here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N7RS0NG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) that works wonderfully for it if you do not want to keep it plugged into your USB port on laptop. If anyone is curious, yes I use it on my lap, yes I use it on my bed, Yes it holds my tank of a laptop that's heavier than most laptops without even flinching (alienware 15 R4 is 8 pounds of heavenly joy) I am confident it will handle its 10 pound brother the 17 R4 or more. This cooler fan is built like a tank, to hold a tank. No slipping or sliding of my hearty beast of a system. yes its amazing and absolutely worth the price. I would recommend to anyone who wants the freedom of an optional power supply without having to feel tethered to your laptop. This model gives you the freedom of picking up your laptop to walk away with it if you use your own power adapter. I would give it 10 stars if it came with its own adapter. The RGB lighting can be turned off so your not stuck with it on. This to me is another bonus. I have it on when I want flashy eye candy, and shut off the lights with the button in the back that will not effect the fans speed at all. You can even control the colors with the buttons as well as the lighting effects. Over all I love this product! Thank you for making such a great piece of equipment. This fan is great for gaming or high intensity graphic users when designing your projects. Its generous size fully covers my laptop and could easily hold bigger. Its solid full black design of metal top/plastic bottom is great for those who want their laptops to shine against its dark surface. Even better for when your using the RGB features. I recommend this product to anyone who wants the options of the most versatility of a cooling pad with something that feels that its its going to last for a very long time to come. 5almost 2019 and yet another company that can't figure out USB 3.0 Let me start by saying that this is indeed a high-quality cooler, which is rare these days. Durable and the legs don't actually break with my laptop weight. I'd give this thing 5 stars even though the color stuff is a bit funky with buttons instead of software. The real thing I take issue with is this taking up two usb 2.0 ports. My Alienware has two USB 3.0 ports, one of each side of the laptop, and two USB 3.1 C ports, one on the side and the other in the back. There was just no way to use the quality cooler with the "y" split power cable they provided without a usb hub and more out of pocket cost. This is ridiculous as a single USB 3 cable would have sufficed and frankly, I'm tired of companies dragging their feet on this standard that's been around many many years now.Thermaltake it's Nov 2018, almost 2019. Please get with the times and make a USB 3.0 cable so you don't need to use two USB ports up. If you wanna include a 2.0 "Y" cable for the people with old laptops that's fine, but it should not be the only thing you provide. 2Impressive Cooler, Would Recommend Review for Thermaltake Massive 20 RGBSo far very impressed with the Tt cooler. I was skeptic at first since all laptop coolers look generally the same, but this has them beat. The fit/finish of the cooler is what impressed me initially, but once it was plugged, it kept going. The fan at ~75% speed is quiet and it moves air and the RGB (default, out of the box rainbow) looks amazing. It's bright, but not too bright where it overpowers the screen.I bought this to assist in cooling an HP Omen 17t, not test (laptop is shipping). Side note this cooler is heavyish. I knew that coming in and the packaging details were correct.Only thing I did not realize or didnt see was that the cooler requires *2* USB ports to power, one for the RGB, one for the fan.Either way, would recommend and buy again.
