Bad and Unresponsive Screen Replaced the screen correctly and the Ipad powered back on, only to a unresponsive screen. Nothing moved or responded to my touches on the screen and as shown in the picture, the background looks like this is the screen thats giving the issue. I have replaced the Ipad mini before for several customers but haven't had this issue before. Bought the screen from another seller from China but did not want to wait 2 weeks for an order so i gambled and bought this one from amazon prime. I would like another screen or my money back please. 1The bad: There are bubbles in the digitizer layer (adhesively ... The bad: There are bubbles in the digitizer layer (adhesively attached to glass on back) which don't seem possible to squeeze out. This shows up once fully assembled. The good: everything else! The kit it came with was nice (too many tools for this job really) and installation was easy (disassembly is much harder). Digitizer and button seem to be working identically to original (which we didn't crack but accidentally cut the cable when getting that the LCD screen below). Price was good. 3A lot of tools. But no guide how to do it. No guide or link of website to watch how to replace it by yourself.*** Caution: Must wear the glasses to protect your eyes. The very small shatter glasses from the screen will fly to your eyes. I got a few flew and hit my forhead and my glasses. Recommend Not get your eyes close to the damaged screen while replacing.P/S:- need the heat gun to do , but you can use the hair dryer instead. Watch the guides on youtube before you start.- the replacement screen, has the end of the wire as the letter L. You must fold it into letter I to put into the ipad. It took me 30 mins to find it out thru the youtube.Edited: The screen doesnt work accurately after 6 months used. I asked them and they sent me a replacement screen. Good service. 5Excellent kit with everything you need Excellent kit with everything you need. The included tools are high quality and will be re-purposed around my household. This kit comes with a "home button" set up and ready to go so you won't have to go through the task of messing with the old home button. Changing the screen isn't as difficult as you might expect, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to do it myself. There is no longer any justifiable reason to go to a repair shop and spend $160+ for a shattered iPad screen. If my screen breaks again, I will fix it with this kit. 5Easiest, most comprehensive kit I've gone through a few of these kits, and this is the first time I've specifically looked for one that used double-sided tape (instead of the heat-activated tape) to hold the screen in place. This is a GAME CHANGER. So much easier to deal with.Replacing an ipad screen is still definitely NOT a "beginner repair" project, and if you've never done it before.....watch a lot of youtube tutorials first (and maybe buy a back up kit just in case you screw up the first installation). This kit is the best, hands down. Biggest variety of tools (to include wipes to keep the screen clean after installation), but the best part of it is the tape doesn't require a heat gun. 5Highly recommended! I repair about 20 of these a month, and this is a good kit compared to others. I don't usually leave parts reviews as we are a repair company that gets in tons of these every week, however I wanted to write a review for this product. Compared to the generic ones out there, this one is actually very well built without the horrific cheap connector ribbons that some of them come with. This also comes with a tool set that is actually useful. I usually throw the tool-sets these come with in the trash, but this one comes with decent tools including screen cleaning wipes/lint free cloth/glue scraper/pry tool/nylot spudger and more.Highly recommend this kit 5Be VERY care when removing the adhesive covering around the HOME button area. It all started well. Everything needed is included and I got all the way to the end thanks to videos found on youtube. During the process of removing the adhesive backing that holds the digitizer in place, apparently it pulled a circuit apart that operates the home button so it quit working. Everything else works fine except for the home button so it renders the ipad pretty much useless. An obviously VERY fragile part of the circuitry. (see the included pic)I'm assuming that TechOrbits does not manufacture these, they are only selling them so it's not their fault on this.I guess I'll have to start over and order another replacement after Christmas. No joy for my granddaughter. 2It works, but you have to be careful and do your research beforehand This was an OK product. There were a few issues that I had which are as follows:1. The tools provided are ok and serve the purpose, however the Phillips screwdriver is too large is does not fit any of the hardware. Thankfully I had another from a previous screen replacement.2. There are no directions, not even a link to a site that would be useful. Therefore take some time and google it. There are plenty of good ones out there. However I recommend watching a few since they all have TINY differences.3. The pre-installed tape on the digitizer was not installed correctly on one side. It was actually on top of the clear glass protector, I'm not sure how that can even happen. So when I removed the protector, I had to re-install the tape back into the groove. Not a big deal, but a pain in the butt none the less.4. The home button contacts were NOT all covered with tape correctly. This caused the home button to ground out. Essentially that means the ipad thought the home button was pushed down the whole time. Which it was not. This caused the ipad to perform poorly and just do weird things as you can imagine. Thankfully a few sites out on the google-net shared the same problem. All I had to do was re-open it and cover the contacts with a small piece of electrical tape. Problem solved! 3I paid extra because this looked like the best kit with all the tools I'd need ... I paid extra because this looked like the best kit with all the tools I'd need to replace my ipad mini screen... The screwdriver was too big and I quickly discovered it was going to strip the screws so I had to dig around for my tiny screwdrivers and find one that would work that I already had... thank goodness I had one! The other screwdriver they provide has a star tip, which you don't even need. In fact, you don't need HALF the tools they provide. I used the metal pry bar thing and the guitar picks... that's it. Next time I will buy just the screen for $17... 3Not for the technologically challenged. This is my second time replacing a screen on an iPad using this same product, so it was easy for me. The only downside to this is that there are no instructions. So, you just google this product and look for videos of other people replacing theirs and follow along with them after watching the video in it s entirety. Then go back and follow along with them again, pausing here and there so you can do what you have to do to keep up. Works great after replacing. But with confidence. 5
