Customer Reviews

Use the hinge method Glass screen protectors are the way to go. I have a Tech Armor screen protector for my phone and I love it. Attaching this one to the iPad, however, is next to impossible. They give you two suction cups and you're supposed to lower the glass and somehow precisely place it. Unless you're a robot, it will not be aligned properly. Any dust particle that gets stuck underneath will cause a quarter-sized bubble that will never come out. After failing with the Tech Armor, I eventually tried the Anker glass screen protector, which uses a hinge method. The Anker aligned perfectly and I even noticed a tiny dust particle stuck underneath with no bubble. For anything larger than a phone, do not attempt to install by any method other than the hinge method (where you tape the protector in place, flip it open, clean the glass and remove the adhesive backing then flip it back onto the device). 2not strong enough. I purchased the ballistic version of this product and found it very disappointing. I received this product on April 9, 2016 and I am reviewing this product on May 6, 2016. the glass has been cracked for about 3 weeks now. it started as a small chip at the top of the screen about 1/4" to right of center. the chip formed from a blow that most definitely would not have chipped the iPad's screen. before I applied the protective glass I had seen the iPad take impacts of that caliber more than once with no damage. so I was quite surprised to discover the damage. even more surprised when it became obvious that from that initial chip, a crack would begin making its way across the screen. I even tried dabbing the chip with a small amount of clear fingernail polish, unsuccessfully attempting to seal it and maybe prevent the crack from expanding. remember, this is the ballistic glass version. supposedly the most durable of the options available. even paid an extra dollar for it. I would suggest that u just buy the regular hd glass, or choose a different option if u gotta pay that extra dollar. another issue is the installation using the suction cups. they don't explain that u will most definitely be left with two air bubbles the size of the cups. not 1mm smaller. it took considerable effort to work them out because the instructions only say that "if" u have bubbles to try working them to the closest edge. not, u will most definitely have bubbles right where u place the suction cups. I would recommend placing the suction cups very close to the edge of the glass to begin with.. within a 1/2" of the edge. that would make it somewhat easier to work out the bubbles. and be careful with the cups as well... once they attach to the glass it is impossible to remove them without applying to ur device first. the cost is all that stopped this from being a 1 star review. being 1/3 the price of protective glass bought at like the Verizon store or the T-mobile store where it would run u around $30-$35. so save urself some time and buy 2 or 3 at once. 2On the fence I'm pretty disappointed in this product. I swear by Spigen screen protectors for my iPhone, and should have tried harder to find the iPad version of a tried-and-true product. Instead I went with the Tech Armor ballistic glass option because I wanted to protect my screen and preserve the image integrity of my beautiful new iPad Mini. In that respect, the ballistic glass works pretty well. But this option is not fingerprint resistant, and quickly accumulates fingerprints and smudges. Being the Type-A person I am, I feel like I have to constantly wipe the screen to remove my many fingerprints. But I understand this product was not designed to be fingerprint resistant, so I'm not taking away any stars for that. Just know that if you really want the true iPad image quality to come through, you should keep a microfiber cloth handy. As for the durability of the ballistic glass, I'm highly doubtful. I installed the screen protector on Friday, and by Monday afternoon the glass had chipped along the edge. I had not dropped it at all, and was being extra-careful with the iPad because my outer protective case had not arrived yet. The only thing I did with it all weekend was hold it for reading and carry it around in a soft leather bag with a notepad, a water bottle, a pen, and some fruit. I have no idea what would have made the edge crack like that, but it's disappointing. It makes me wonder how well the glass beneath would be protected in a hard drop.In other respects, this product did pretty well. It was extremely easy to install--easier than my beloved Spigen screen protectors--and fits the iPad Mini perfectly. It fits right up to the edge of the iPad glass so you can barely see it at all, and if you didn't know it was there you would probably never notice it. And, like I mentioned earlier, as long as the screen is clean, you really do get the crisp, clear iPad image coming through. Overall, I'm not sure if I'll leave the chipped screen for a while longer, get an identical replacement and hope this was a fluke, or try harder to find a Spigen in the right size. 3Great product at an affordable price! The only way to know if it's a good product is to drop your iPad...luckily for us, when my son dropped his iPad mini face down on the kitchen tile, this product showed its worth! Protected his iPad and didn't even leave a crack/scratch/etc. on the screen protector itself! Now that's what I call a quality product at an affordable price. I'm usually hesitant about purchasing cheap screen protectors as you get what you pay for, so we were pleasantly surprised with how well this one worked. You have to make sure that you THOROUGHLY read the descriptions of screen protectors prior to purchasing to make sure that it will work for your particular model of Apple product. We have an iPad Mini 3 with Retina Display and this protector fit perfectly. Doesn't overlap the home button and is dead center of the screen. We loved the Tech Armor product so much that we purchased their glass screen protectors for my iPad pro, my husband's iPhone 6s and for my iPhone 8 Plus. Free shipping with Prime made this purchase worth every penny. 5Clear and Protective I much prefer ballistic glass screen protectors to the vinyl or plastic sheets. I don't see how those could offer much impact protection. I've used Tech Armor before and they deliver a very consistent quality of product. These screen protectors come with micro-fiber cloths, moist screen cleaning wipes, dust tape and even two small suction cups for holding the cover and placing it without touching it with your fingers. Please note, if you have one or two bubbles on your first attempt, don't hesitate to peel it back up a little and lay it down slowly again - lay it from one end to the next rather than all across at once. This won't stretch and tear like the plastic covers. If you read the instructions and follow them, this is a great looking cover that is as functional as it is invisible. 5Best So Far! At our house, there's always a new tech gadget/gift being brought in to our household. This usually always means having to buy a screen protector, and begin the horrible process of installing it. I say horrible, because almost every screen protector installation goes wrong in some way. A speck of dust or hair sneaks onto the screen, the protector doesn't align properly, or sometimes the protector's adhesive doesn't even work. I don't know if I finally got lucky, or if Tech Armor truly does make the perfect protectors, but I do know that this last installation has been the best so far. No flaws whatsoever, and the tools provided by Tech Armor definitely contributed to that. Great product by a great company. 5For the price, no. Wouldn't it have been great to understand their directions after multiple readings. An extra sentence would not have cost them anything and would have been very useful just to make the consumer feel certain they are doing it right. For example it says: "4) Attach the included suction cups to the side oppositte the protective layer". The addition of words like: "being the side that does not have adhesive". In retrospect it seems obvious and yet while doing it you are unsure and feeling anxious to not screw up your new iPad. I did not place the suction cups on the right side ultimately (placing them on the protective coating of the peel-off plastic protector - the side opposite the protective layer in my initial reading), then pulled them off to change sides but they went flying so I could not find them after cursing Tech Armor for a few minutes. One is still missing (later found but now useless). I had to adjust the protector 1x and even used plastic gloves, but still got fingerprints in 2 places under/on the side and a piece of dust on the adhesive side of the screen protector even though I had just uncovered the original packaging of the iPad mini (it occurred while searching for the suction cups).A regular 3-pack of screen protectors for 1/3 the cost would have suited me better and allowed for a mistake by a non-tech person.UPDATE February 7, 2016. I did what Allison mentioned below and contacted Tech Armor through my Amazon account THE NEXT DAY and nothing happened after waiting 3 wks. They did not respond. I e-mailed them yesterday and now there is a new thing for me to do which is to contact them on their support webpage (the link they gave in an e-mail to me did not work) with my order # from Amazon. Is this now the correct information? Who knows? I guess I will have to wait and see.INCONSISTENT INFORMATION FROM THEIR SUPPORT DEPT. NOW THEY GET 2 STARS FROM MY ORIGINAL 3 2Awesome protector Just received this in the mail today, so I can't vouch for longevity, but as for installation, it was super easy. It comes with directions and also there's a video (I didn't watch it). Comes with everything you need to clean the screen and then apply the protector. A word of advice though- seems obvious, but make sure those suction cups are good and suctioned to the protector before you remove the backing from the sticky side. One of mine wasn't completely suctioned apparently and it was a b***h trying to align and apply the protector with only one suction haha. Nonetheless, still pretty easy to apply (and I suck at putting screen protectors on).As for air bubbles, I had no problems getting them out. There are some weird teeny tiny wavy lines in a couple spots, but the directions said that's normal and will go away within 24-48 hours. Even if they don't, I can't really see them unless I look super closely so I don't particularly care. Honestly I'm just happy I got all the dust off my screen and air bubbles out- probably a first for me with putting screen protectors on, i always end up with them ha. Not this time! Woo!Another thing I like about this protector in the twenty minutes it's been on my iPad is that it does actually feel like the glass, not the usual crappy-plastic-screen-protector feeling. And as for anti-fingerprint, that seems to be working pretty decently as well. Even if I try to smudge my fingers all over the screen, it doesn't get smudgy like with the actual iPad screen. Also, I am using this screen protector with this case and they fit together just fine.Hocase Double Layer Rugged Hard Rubber Case for Apple iPad Mini / 2 / 3 - Black Flower / Mint Green https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019O0VLXG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_VhjpybEGD54E1Overall definitely a worthwhile purchase, especially for the price! No complaints here. 5Not the best of products The glass didn't adhere well. After about a week it started separating from my iPad and needed replacement under their warranty.I don't like when I have to pay for shipping to have a defective product replaced. I paid once and that is all I expect to have to do. If their product fails they should absorb the cost of sending my replacement. However I paid it and they did send the replacement quickly.Unfortunately the replacement looks like it will have adhesion issues as well. If it does I won't bother with them again 2Yes it's worth it!! After spending a couple hundred bucks on my IPad mini I was reluctant to spend more for a screen protector. After all I'm always careful, and never take it out of the house. Hmmm...A few days later I knocked it off the table, and luckily it landed on soft carpet. I read reviews & decided to try the Tech Armor. So glad I did! Over the next couple years It saved my screen more than once. Recently a heavy glass paper weight fell off a shelf directly onto my IPad screen. My heart sunk. Sadly I found one big chip, and 2 little ones dead center on the screen. I thought it was toast. Then I remembered the screen protector which I almost didn't purchase. When I pulled it off my screen was perfect. Yes!! Definitely worth the few extra bucks. Luv ya Tech Armor. 5
