Guaranteed Protector Makes Apple Pencil Shine for Art I don't usually bother with screen protectors; the amount of research Apple puts into making their glass scratch proof is impressive and sufficient to requirements provided that you don't keep your phone in the same pocket you keep your change or keys. However, 12.9 inches of screen real estate is a lot of glass, $600 is a big replacement price tag, and while the iPad Pro is light, its size makes it a little unwieldy. I didn't want to take chances. These matte screen protectors were recommended to me through an art group on social media as working very well with the Apple Pencil and providing nice tactile feedback when drawing that the glass surface of the iPad does not. Thus far I have found this to be the case. I am enjoying how smudge-free the protector keeps my screen as well as how 'real' the Pencil feels against it -- not at all like drawing on a tablet with a stylus.I have never found any screen protector "easy" to install, and this product is no different, but what makes Tech Armor stand out is that they really do provide you with everything you need for a successful installation. A high-quality anti-scratch dust cloth, light-adhesive tape for removing the inevitable errant eyelash, a bubble-smoothing card, and on top of everything else, a 100% satisfaction guarantee. So if you still screw it up (always a 50/50 proposition in my experience), and then you screw it up again (this package contains two protectors), you can get a new set free.I decided to be extra careful and do the installation in my bathroom after running the shower, to remove airborne dust. Careful with this technique, however, as too much steam will fog your device and interfere with protector adhesion. Despite everything I missed an eyelash that had fallen onto the screen -- lifting the protector and extracting it with the provided tape was awkward but successful without damaging the protector. Some reviewers have commented on the matte protector causing a "Vaseline effect" -- I noticed this immediately following installation but never again. The picture on the iPad is perfectly clear through the protector. 5Works perfectly! This is a great screen protector. It fits perfectly, it is thick and the texture is nice. I can barely tell its there. I use my iPad Pro for illustration with my Apple pencil and without a matte screen protector the side of my hand will write or move the screen, etc. It was very easy to apply and the set actually comes with TWO (I didn't realize that). Kind of eases your mind if you mess up on the first, but i had no issues so now I have a spare. It also came with very detailed instructions, a bubble remover thing, and a screen cloth as well as dust stickers. I highly recommend this if you use your iPad for illustrating, plus no glare is always good. The only time I would say not to use this is if you show art or photographs to clients on your iPad, as this will make the colors look less bright, etc. but that is with all matte screen protectors. I also liked that the company themselves emailed me when they received my order as well as when it shipped. 5Cuts Glare to nothing, even in the sun. I have had my iPad Pro 12.9 for about a month now and the screen glare has been driving me crazy. I bought this Tech Armor anti-glare protection screen with the thought that I'd replace the glass protection screen I put on the day I got the iPad. But then I thought I'd try putting it OVER the existing glass protection screen. And it works great even with both on there. But now that stupid glare is gone and I can actually enjoy my ginormous screen. 5Great for artists! I purchased the anti-glare screen protector for my iPad Pro 12.9-inch tablet mostly to keep it protected from minor scratches. When I was researching screen protectors, this item often came up as recommended by those that use this tablet for art. I am an artist, and was skeptical of how the screen protector would feel with the apple pencil. I decided to give it a try, and loved it!Pros:- The texture of the screen protector is perfect for drawing on the iPad. I feared it would be too rough, compared to the smooth surface of the iPad without a screen protector. However, it's a beautiful feeling surface! The pencil can still glide across it smoothly, without slipping out from underneath you. Many say it feels like smooth paper, and I would agree.- It leaves barely any fingerprints. I also really love how it feels to touch too. I don't have to worry about my hands sticking to the screen.- Application of the screen protector was relatively painless. It took a while (using the tape) to get all the pieces of dust off because I live in a dusty dorm room. However, I managed it and was able to get every bubble out! Nice!- It does prevent glare! Very useful for drawing on a sunny day or outside.Cons:-The screen's appearance takes a little bit of a hit by having this screen protector on. Everything appears a bit pixel-y and not nearly as sharp as it was before the cover. HOWEVER I have decided that the feel of the screen protector far outweighs any concerns I have about image quality. I have already gotten used to it, and it's not very distracting.-The screen protector seems just a tad too small, so that when lined up along the bottom corners exactly it didn't quite make it to the top edge. This is barely noticeable at all, and might have been an error on my part when putting it on. It doesn't cover the camera or the fingerprint sensor at all, so this is not really an issue.Overall, this is an excellent cover! I would purchase again. I am including pictures of the screen protector before and after sunlight hits the screen so you can see how it reduces glare. 5Makes The Screen Look AWFUL Okay, first off, let me say that I bought this screen protector to give some texture to my screen for art purposes, not to protect the screen or cut down on glare. This DOES give me a nice tooth for my Apple Pencil to grip as it glides across the screen, making it feel more like I m actually drawing on paper. For that, it does the job. However, it makes the screen look absolutely horrible. It reminds me of a very old computer monitor, with this tiny rainbow texture. It completely KILLS the retina resolution of the iPad. This is especially noticeable on a white screen. In fairness, I watched several YouTube reviews of this product before I bought, and they all mentioned this effect. But I didn t realize just HOW pronounced this would be. I just don t know if I m going to be able to deal with this. I will try, because I do very much like the texture for drawing. But it s definitely going to be frustrating. It s also not as easy to apply as some other screen protectors I ve tried. I had to use tape on the side to keep it in place while I removed the backing, because doing it they way they recommend did not line it up well enough. I just lined the screen protector up perfectly, put a piece of tape on one side at each end to keep it in place while I removed the backing and then moved it back in place like the tape was door hinges. (I heard this mentioned on YouTube and it worked nicely.) 3Perfect for Apple pencil + eye comfort I never liked the glare of the iPad pro and my eyes get really tired very fast. Still I did not buy a screen protector because of the mistaken belief that my Apple pencil would not respond as well. Then my iPad pro fell and now I have a hairline crack top to bottom and a bunch of small cracks close to the edge. Screen replacement is $600. So, instead, I bought a Zugucase and this protector to somewhat seals the cracks and to keep my iPad going. I LOVE the feel of this TechArmor screen protector. Other mentions how the Apple pencil glides on the screen as on paper. This is correct and to me very pleasing, the texture creates a tiny bit of drag that gives the impression of having more control over the pen. Really great. The level of eye comfort is perfect for me as well: no glare and indeed a different luminosity that will appeal to those whose eyes get easily tired, teary, or scratchy when using their computers, iPads, or iPhones. I hope it is durable. 5Initially had trouble but Tech Armor is true to their word. My initial install failed. Much like many screen protectors, I had trouble getting it to line up perfectly and by the time I had it where I wanted it, the underside was covered with lint. However, rather than contact Amazon for a refund, I decided to contact Tech Armor, since the product description promised a "bubble-free, easy install, and perfect fit. Guaranteed by the Tech Armor No-Hassle Lifetime Replacement Warranty."'Not only did I receive two replacement films the next day but I also received some "extra" installation instructions, one of which was to apply the protector in the bathroom while running a hot shower to generate steam. I increased my review to 4 stars, given the excellent service from Tech Armor. However, I should note that I also installed this using two large rubber bands and Scotch tape, which is not provided by Tech Armor. The rubber band / "hinge" tape installation is the ONLY way to ensure a good fit the first time and I would not buy screen protectors that do not employ this method. 4Otherwise it's a godsend if you use your iPad for drawing regularly and don't like the super slick 'glassy' feel of the screen Only minor gripe would be the loss of crystal-clarity due to the slightly grainy look of the matte finish. But I can't really take any points off because that's the nature of a matte finish. Otherwise it's a godsend if you use your iPad for drawing regularly and don't like the super slick 'glassy' feel of the screen. I had my co-worker put it on for me cuz I suck at it and after a gentle wipe down with a small amount of rubbing alcohol and little bit of 'buffing' with the included cloth...he got it dead-on the first try. So I guess it's pretty easy to apply. As a professional tattooer this $10 piece of plastic on a $1000 piece of equipment has turned digital drawing from a chore into something I enjoy doing which can eventually save me countless hours of prep-work. If you can stand the slightly grainy look and you draw on your iPad frequently then it's a must as far as I'm concerned. 5Great for writing, horrible for cases and front-facing camera. I purchased this item after reading reviews that said that the screen texture made using the Apple Pencil feel like writing on paper. While I would say it is more like writing with chalk on a fine chalkboard (just the texture, none of the skin-crawling screechy sounds or anything), I am very pleased with how it makes writing feel. However, that s about the only thing I m happy with. The single-biggest problem with this screen is that the cutout for the camera is so small - even though the camera is on the bezel and the surrounding area needs no protection or writing surface - that unless you are an expert or get lucky, it is almost impossible to get the screen lined up so perfectly that you don t end up with an edge of the plastic crossing the camera. I am no expert, but I have but putting screens on my devices since the HP iPAQ in 2006, and have never had to completely throw out a screen since probably 2006. For this one, I had to throw out the first screen because, even when I flipped it non-adhesive side down to check, the holes were misaligned just enough that it was literally impossible to put the screen on without partially covering either the camera or home button. Finally, the Q&As said that this screen was compatible with UAG cases. That may be the case for some, but it the screen is just thick enough that it cannot be used with the UAG Metropolis cases. The corners are so tight that they push the corners of the film back. Since it is just on the bevels it doesn t really interfere with usage, but it looks horrible and I m sure will serious reduce the lifetime of this screen. What I am most annoyed about is that I can t even get a refund on this because how exactly am I supposed to package and return sticky pieces of plastic? 1Only 1 screen cover inside This was okay, its hard to find matte screen covers.I felt there were 2 confusing things I would have wanted to know before purchase/install;The package says 2-pack which I usually like because if I mess up I have a back up, or if it needs replacing for whatever reason. This is why I purchased this matte screen protector over others. There was only ONE in the package though, so maybe they meant that there is 2x the glare protection?Anyways the second thing is that there where 3 plastic films in the package. However, 2 of the films had step 1 tabs on them. This resulted in much confusion, and I actually set aside the actual screen cover before figuring it out. Unfortunately that meant my. Sticky side was all covered in lint. So I managed to get them mostly off through a lot of work. So be forewarned.I usually buy one brand of screen covers for all my devices, and those have numbered tabs (1-3), so it was my mistake to assume that would be similar here. 4
