Customer Reviews

Expensive but worth it I've been swimming with audio for something like 10 years now. Not sure I can do without it! Finding the right fit for earbuds is always a problem. Once water gets between your eardrum and the speaker it's game over! Swimbuds gives even more options than other underwater headphones with their wide array of tips. I was very excited to try the new "fins" design (the blue ones) but it turned out that the fin only worked best in my left ear. In my right ear I went with trees. Looks funny but it works for me! I have had several swims now with un-interrupted sound and no water in my ears. Success! I also like that they come with an extender. A few times I took my old swim headphones on a trip and ended up wanting to use them out of the water and was stuck with the tiny cord. A tiny cord is great if you are wearing your mp3 player on your goggles, but that is all it's good for!I think the price on these is pretty high and I sort of wonder how much less it would be if they didn't package it with a bunch of running tips. I'm hoping the price difference would be negligible. But, I figure I will get about 150 swims a year out of these for many years so at the end of the day the cost is in line with the enjoyment I get. 5Once you have them, there's no going back I use these on a daily basis, with my waterproof iPod shuffle (also from Underwater Audio). The sound quality is better than I could have imagined possible for underwater headphones. The "tree" buds also act as earplugs, creating a secure and tight, but comfortable seal, so I no longer end up with swimmer's ear, or water sloshing around in my ears for the rest of the day post-swim. I follow the recommended procedure for inserting them of crossing my arm over my head to pull up on the opposite earlobe, and then placing the bud into the ear canal. I can't speak highly enough about Underwater Audio's customer service- they have been prompt, courteous, and responsive any time I have had reason to contact them. This is my second set of headphones from them, and I definitely recommend getting the optional extended warranty. I had one side/earbud stop working, and they replaced them quickly, no questions asked, no hassle. Having music to swim to has gone from a luxury to an essential! 5Pleasantly Surprised Reference: Older model Bose in-ear bass booster Freestyle-type buds, AMAZING. Admitted audiophile.Ordered these after the pair that comes complementary with the Underwater Audio ipod were inadequate, much too tin-y. These have nice mid-range and appreciable bass that gives depth to the music. Several of my tracks have some spoken word, so I can assume they are decent for that as well. I used the tree buds that were already attached to the buds and had absolutely no problem and no leak. Secret is to pull your ear out from your head as you gently press the bud into the canal. They do stick out from the ear a bit, but I found that to be no problem at all. Overall, exceeds my expectations and gets the job done. Will update if product integrity changes after several exposures to chlorinated water. 4Not Loving my earbuds Anymore Ok so below was my first post but after a little after a month of use of my earbuds one of my earbuds got water in and it no longer works so I would rethink buying these earbuds for this price. Of course my warranty is up too.My first post...........I bought these ear buds on April 5, 2017 and just started using them on May 2, 2019. I never used them moved to the beach and was no longer swimming in a pool anymore. I recently broke my ankle on March 20, 2019 and was unable to bear any weight for 6 weeks. I started doing water therapy and started swimming again. So I pulled out my new never used earbuds and couldn t be happier to find that they work amazing. I have tried many under water earbuds for years but never found an earbud that sounded great under water and stayed in your ear perfectly. It also comes with many different replacements earbuds to fit many different ear size. I no longer have to fix my earbuds a while swimming. I highly recommend these great earbuds for under water music and swimming. You know it s a Great product when you come back years later to write a review. 1Probably as good as you will get for headphones for swimming Probably as good as you will get for headphones for swimming. I don't think you'll ever get perfect sound due to water interference. If any water gets in your ear, it's going to block the sound. That said, I got these to go with a "Diver" waterproof MP3 player I had purchased. The earbuds that came with it were OK, but I was frequently having to adjust them. After reading reviews on several earbuds I purchased these. They work very well and I almost never need to adjust them. They come with a number of different ear pieces so finding one to fit your ears shouldn't be a problem. 5Love UPDATE: I have grown to love these for a couple reasons. 1. I think I have just gotten better at inserting the earbuds, the sounds is great. (I like the tree style), and 2. The customer support from Underwater Audio is top notch. They wrote me after purchase, and wrote again ith tips and help after I wrote the 4-star review. I have used the iPod during laps all summer and am truly delighted with the product.*********************I can't decide if I want to rate this a like or love, so here is this: I love that these work in the water, and I love that there are so many choices in this set so that one can find the perfect anatomical fit. I wish the sound was better, but I also feel like I can't complain too much given that I am listening to electronics while I swim! I definitely recommend getting this headphone assortment to find the right earbuds for you. 5Fails WAY too soon, especially at this price I have had 3 pairs of these now and the first 2 died, one in weeks and one after about 10 months. Both times I tried other brands in between and came back to these for sound quality. But here are my observationsThese are used about 2 hours a week for pool swims. Both prior pairs died after (max) 1 year. So, 2*52 = 104 hours before failing COMPLETELY. At $70 a pair that is about 67 cents a minute for use.By comparison, I have used a pair of regular Klipsch IMAGE S4 In-Ear headphones daily, for transit, walking, etc. on weekdays. I used them about 1 hour a day for more than 3.5 years and they are still good - no problems. That's about 900 hours of use with no failure. I paid about $80 for those so about 11.25 cents per hour of use.In other words, these headphones fail FAR too soon (and I am very careful with them always), and are far too expensive (about 6 x what they should cost based on fail rate and life span).I will find some other brand if I can. No luck so far, but there must be something. In the interim, SWIMBUDS - the problem seems to be a physical cable failure in the Y joint, and that is a manufacturing/design QA issue. So, why don't you step up and fix it? Seriously, for this price, a little quality would be appropriate for loyal customers who clearly are willing to pay more for that quality. 2Company stands by it's product.... This company is great and clearly stands by it's product. My swimbuds broke at the point where the wires connect to the plug ( as seen in other reviews) in 2 months of 2-3 times/week use. It was too late to return them, so I wrote a less than stunning review ( 1 -star). This company contacted me and has since sent another pair of swimbuds to me.What fantastic customer service! In fact I am going to order the waterproof i pod from them soon. They sent me the following tips in an email and I am posting them here to help others....-Rinse with clean water and pat dry after each use.-Avoid extreme high and low temperatures.-While removing headphones from a device, pull on the plug rather than the cord.-Store in a clean, dry location between uses. A great option is the carrying case we provide with the Swimbuds Sport, HydroActive, or Flex headphones.-Gently wrap cord between uses, avoiding right angle kinks. In addition, when I use them, I will make sure they are well up under my cap to avoid kinking the cord. Here's to hoping this second pair doesn't break..... 5Unmatched quality product, fantastic customer service A relevant preamble: I started swimming with an MP3 player about 1.5 years ago, and for the first few months of irregular use I was pretty happy with the headphones that came with my waterproofed iPod shuffle (which has been flawlessly reliable this whole time, fwiw). However, once I started living in a place where I could swim 5-6 days a week, they very rapidly stopped working unless I spent several minutes compressing the water out of them before I swam, and they were positioned *just so* in my ears while swimming, which meant a ton of stopping and adjusting. They finally completely gave up the ghost, but I wasn't ready yet to spend a big chunk of money on workout headphones, so I tried about 3 different brands of under-$40 waterproof headphones - all of which ran into the same problem of working irregularly within 2 weeks of 5-6 days a week use.I finally capitulated and shelled out the money for these headphones about 4.5 months ago, and I could not be happier. They've worked perfectly, no glitches in sound quality or finicky need to do air compressions on the speakers, etc., etc. I did have to do some trial and error to find just the right earbud covers, and so was a little worried before I found the right size/shape because they don't work if they fall out of your ears (even if they don't come fully loose - I wear a swim cap that usually keeps that from happening - you get silence from all waterproof headphones when they're not fully set in your ears). But they come with tons of different styles and sizes, so rest assured, you'll find the right ones if you keep trying.Of course, latex degrades eventually (especially in the tropical climate where I live - and yes, I'm lazy and store my gear outside for easy access), and I decided it was time to get more of the ergo style earbud covers so I could go back to wearing my exact preferred size. Unfortunately, I found that while you can buy the other styles individually, ergo is only available in the variety pack. But this is where the 5 star review really comes in - I contacted the company directly, and they got back to me right away offering to just invoice me the cost of the ergos (same low cost as the other single-type packs) and ship them to me right away, apologizing for not having an ergo-only package already available. Within an hour my ergos were paid for and shipped! This kind of quality and customer service more then pays for itself. If you swim regularly, these headphones are undoubtedly worth the little extra cost. 5Four years of use - two going on three pairs In 2014 I bought the Underwater Mega Bundle, which included the standard "Swimbuds Waterproof Headphones". The waterproof shuffle was excellent from the start, and the Swimbuds worked, but it took a long time to figure out how to get them to not leak, and I was never always successful. I was skeptical that the Swimbuds Sport could be much different: on the surface the spec's looked similar and the Sport buds appear from the photos to stick out further which didn't seem like a good idea (I'm a lap swimmer). I was wrong. These buds are a big improvement. My Swimbuds Sport pretty much never leak, and that combined with better audio hardware makes a much better bud.However...I bought my first set in Oct 2015, and they stopped working less than two years later. I got a second pair in July 2017, and they are starting to cut out (June 2018). 4
