Amazing Speakers This speaker is amazing;I couldn't be more pleased! I got a new computer and was so frustrated because the sound was so quiet that I could not really enjoy any music on it at all. I was unfamiliar with this brand name and the cost was so low that my expectations were that I was hopeful for merely a mediocre or tolerable sound. I was certainly surprised! I opened the box, took out the speakers, separated the two halves of the speaker, slid one on each side of the open computer, plugged in the two cords and in less than five minutes I was enjoying some beautiful violin music. I have listened all afternoon and evening and it has been wonderful.I was able to work around the house, listening to the music in the background.The speakers are so light and compact that it will be easy to stick them in with my computer whenever I travel. I strongly recommend this product.t 5TLDR: At this price point, I can't imagine buying a better product for the job. I've only been using these for about 2 days at this point, but so far they're fantastic for what I needed. I've been doing a lot of traveling lately as I'm moving and I like to listen to various talk shows while doing things and the dynamic volume of some of them makes it just about impossible to hear from anywhere farther away than a couple of feet from my very average laptop. In the evenings when I stream movies I would have the same problem with dialog.My first solution to this problem was an audio booster application, which does work (kind of), but costs $20 for the registered version, has poor reviews, and only had a 2 week trial. After much searching I was surprised to find that basically only that application exists for that purpose. Plus at the end of the day I was still stuck with my laptop speakers, which play straight up from the keyboard (as most do) and sound pretty terrible (also as most do).Enter these guys... They easily play twice as loud as my internal laptop speakers, sound dramatically better (they even manage to play a little bit of bass. Men speaking now sound like actual men speaking and not chipmunks, but of course don't expect them to replace your home theater), and actually do clip on to the top of my screen (a Dell E6410) albeit loosely. They're also ideally sized for me to be able to cart them around with the rest of my things without a lot of effort. Each speaker is about the size of a deck of cards.My only complaints with them so far are fairly slight... When I first got them I did what most people probably do and immediately tossed the instructions in the trash, plugged them, and attempted to clip them to the screen in a dimly lit room to watch some streaming before bed. The speakers are, in fact, mechanically left and right handed and cannot be attached in the opposite orientation (and therefore when they're clipped together, like you see in the primary photo, they won't clip on at all) so I fumbled around with them quite a bit before figuring it out... Not really a fault of the product per say as I'm sure the instructions I didn't read spell that out, but a little annoying that I can't keep them neatly clipped together as shown and just stick them on when I want. Another issue is that the connection on the 3.5mm jack doesn't seem that great. I have to twist it around to make a solid connection that doesn't produce crackles and static. This could be an issue with my laptop specifically, or only my speakers specifically, but I haven't noticed it with other things plugged in. And lastly, for a laptop, the cords are ridiculously long. I would vastly prefer the cords be about 1/2 the length and the volume control be placed immediately at the USB port and not half way down the cord requiring me to reel it in to adjust the volume, but I imagine not everyone is going to use these as I do so they had to make a middle ground somewhere.Overall, I'm delighted with my purchase and would buy these again. At this price point, I can't imagine buying a better product for the job. 4Perfect for my needs I travel for work teaching classes of about 25 participants using PowerPoint presentations that include some audio and video. Packing speakers takes up a lot of space which is problematic when you want to avoid checking bag and just fly with carry-on. Your typical speakers are bulky, awkward, and hog space. I was looking for very small speakers that had enough volume to broadcast to a classroom.These speakers are it. The box is very compact, only 5.25" x 4" x 2.25". The sound quality is certainly not the best you'll ever hear, but it's clear, and plenty loud. They are perfect to toss in a briefcase or backpack or even just keep in a laptop bag.If you're looking for speaker to play music, these are fine for casual listening, but if you want something that will satisfy the true audiophile, they probably will prove disappointing. Remember, they are very inexpensive so they're not going to be concert hall quality, but again, for my purposes, these are perfect.The only thing I don't care for is that the volume is on an in-line control on the cord, but if that's necessary to keep the size smaller, I'd rather it be where it is. Either way, it's a very minor quibble. 4Excellent sound for the old laptop My partner is a sports fanatic and Syracuse basketball fan. We live in Montana, so we have to stream the Syracuse games on a computer (espnwatch.com) but he likes other sports on the TV at the same time. I can stream the Syracuse games on a laptop but the sound volume was too low. With these easy to install speakers, the sound volume is perfect. I just plugged them in. The only trouble I've had with them is that they won't stay clipped onto the laptop. I think this particular computer screen may be too thick or too rounded. It's OK. We just place them on the table next to his recliner (and, yes, he has it really easy...I've even been known to make him popcorn while he's watching multiple sports). 4Work very well with minimum size and weight. Clamps could be improved. I bought this because I have three Lenovo netpads (two IdeaPads and one ThinkPad) with pretty poor built-in speakers. My main goal was to get enough volume so students in a class could hear the "buzzer" to end some timed practice quizzes. The original speakers were all but drowned out by the sound of the video projector sitting next to my netbooks. Frankly, I was a bit shocked by out loud these speakers are. Of course, they are powered from the USB port, so they have another stage of amplification beyond what is built into the netbooks. I mean, the buzzer is plenty loud enough even for a class of 40 or 50 students. Then I started to use the speakers for watching videos in my hotel room after class. (After all, I already had them with me.) The sound quality is certainly good enough for most movies and pretty darn good even for music. They don't have a lot of bass, but the mids and highs are quite clear.The best part is that the speakers lock together into a package the size of a large hot dog and bun. There's no batteries or separate power supply, so they are quite easy to carry in my laptop bag. It's insignificant additional weight.My only negative is that the clamps don't work very well on the thin displays of the netbooks. They just don't clamp at that level of thinness. On the other hand, the clamps also function as stands, so you can place them on a table and face them whichever way you choose. This is how I use them in class. 5Small size, small price, good value. Much smaller than I had expected not being able to relate to measurements in cm. They are about 3 1/4 inches wide 1 5/8 inches high and 1 1/4 inches deep or thick at the center for each speaker. They are no where near a set of Bose in sound quality but also no where near the price. My Dell Laptop Studio just did not have enough volume even when it was new. These little speakers do the trick. I also can close my laptop with them clipped on with no issue. Naturally I would take them off if and when I store it in my laptop bag or for traveling. The small size overall will be a plus for traveling even though I had as I mentioned before were much smaller than the picture online made them look to me. If you are just looking for a little more volume for general use and are not expecting a symphony sound I would highly recommend these speakers. 5Amazing quality for such a small set! I normally don't take the time to write reviews, but this little speaker deserves to be praised. I purchased this set/bar of mini speakers for a small TV that had limited sound quality. The speakers are powered through the USB connection and the sound is through the headphone jack on the TV, therefore the TV remote controls it all. The sound quality from this small set is amazing, crisp and clear. My ultimate test was to watch an episode of "How To Get Away With Murder". Normally, the sound is blurred to me, background noises not filtered enough for me to catch all the fast paced dialogue the first time through. These speakers solved that issue! I've only had the speakers a few days, so I can't speak to longevity. However, for the price, I'd not balk at replacing them in the future. We have a BOSE sound bar for our large TV. I'd place the quality of these speakers, used on this small TV, right up there with our BOSE. 5Good laptop speakers Definitely better than the cheap junk I had before. Due to their small size don't expect great frequency response, especially bass. For that you'll need something bigger and likely less portable. But given what they are, laptop speakers, they sound pretty good and can boost the volume quite well. Had trouble hearing stuff on the laptop's built-in speakers at times. One thing I noticed is each speaker has a lip on the outside next to the clip which hold them on, meaning they will most likely be relegated to the upper corners of your monitor and you'll not be able to slide them together. They're better placed on the corners for stereo anyway, so that won't be a drawback for many people. These are brain dead easy to use. Plug into a USB port for power; the headphone jack for audio. No software to download or anything. 4[UPDATED 14 Mar 2018] Broken Bits, But Not Beyond Bearing. Yet. ;P *** Update: 14 March 2018 ***Very quick response by the seller (Hideer Technology).They made an immediate offer to replace the broken speakers at no cost, not even asking me to return the broken speakers.While I'm pretty "meh" about the speakers, they perform well enough and do what I need but I'm quite happy with the seller and wouldn't hesitate to buy from them in the future.*** Original Review ***Arrived broken.The Amazon shipping box was immaculate, and the other items in my order arrived undamaged nary a scuff on any of the other boxes held by the shipping box.The box for the mini speakers had brushed corners and was torn in places (see photos).On opening the abused box, I discovered that the plastic housing of the volume control module was broken (see photos). Given the review of the user who had a short circuit in their vol module, I wonder if I dodged a bullet. :/In any case, packing it back up and shipping it back for a refund strikes me as more of a pain that it's worth. Since the speakers still work, I've fitted enough of the broken pieces back together to provide support for the solder joints. This way, if a component on the volume control board shorts out, I can replace it or just remove the board and Splice-n-Solder the wires to skip the whole volume control thing.The sound quality seems fair (though not great The speakers are tiny, what do you expect!?), though I do wish the cords were longer. But I have extension cables to deal with that issue.In any case, hope someone finds this information (warning?) useful.***In one sense, I'm glad they arrived with a broken casing because that let me spot a wire with damaged insulation (the wire was clearly crushed/damaged during assembly). The wires are, as one would expect, thin (guessing 25-30 ga but I haven't actually checked). As thin as the wires are, I probably wouldn't have spotted the damage to the wire if I hadn't had to fight with the circuit board for the volume control to get it back into the housing after I repaired it (as much as I'm going to bother). While the insulation is crushed, it isn't *quite* to the extent that it exposes the copper wire. (Visible in the photo showing the labeled side of the circuit board: wire w/ white insulation.)On the topic of "fighting the circuit board", it was anything but simple to get the circuit board and the wires to fit back into the plastic housing. I honestly don't think the boards were designed as drop-in units intended to work with the housing; and that makes me wonder if that might be part of the issue which led to the housing breaking.In any case, I covered the damage portion with a bit of flexible, quick-dry epoxy to provide a bit of added protection and to help prevent oxidation of the copper core. Not that I really expected it, but since I had it handy I figured it couldn't hurt. ;PI've done a semi-permanent repair to the housing that will nonetheless let me disassemble it quickly and easily if I ever have to in the future. I suppose I could post photos of that if enough people express an interest, but didn't bother since it's not directly related to the product as it arrived. 1VERY PLEASED! I ordered this speaker set not expecting all that much.....I mean, what can you get for $10? But I am pleasantly surprised. I've included a little video demonstration of the difference it makes with my laptop, which will tell you more than I could ever write. For this demonstration, I had pre-plugged in the USB and slid the speakers onto the top of my laptop and my laptop sound was at 100%. So the demo is solely for you to hear the difference in the sound WITH and WITHOUT the additional speakers.At one point, you will hear a little feedback...that's because I was fiddling with the audio jack. That was probably more of an issue with my laptop's audio in than the speakers themselves. I did get some distortion when I turned the speakers up all the way. The demo was with the speakers at about 85-90%.Hope this helps! 5
