    Works!Needed to reeplace a cord I sold and my external dvd drive would not work using only a single usb. Needed the second usb to provide ample power for the dvd to operate correctly. It did/does, I can strill use the external dvd for backups, etc.5Good Cables Brought three of these cable to replace the short OEM cables that came with my USB monitors, and they work great no problems with them at all so far, and the extra length was just what I needed in the flight sim pit. 5Great replacement cableThis cable was purchased as a replacement for one that was used with an external HDD. The original cable was lost when I moved and this one has served the same purpose with no issues. Another great aspect of this cable outside of the price is that the length was perfect for my setup, too long and it would have been difficult to manage, to short and it would be difficult to have it in the ideal location for accessibility.5Poor Man Audiophile Cable for USB DACUsing this Y-cable between my computer and external DAC (Digital Analog Converter) for my audio system with a twist (see photos attached). With an add-on power source (a battery power bank or linear power supply), the DC noise from my PC no long enter my DAC any more. All it needs is a tiny Scotch tape to go with this cable and an additional power source (learned it from head-fi.org, credit to member zilchm0d). There are many products out there from Schitt (USA), iFi (UK), etc. that cost $100+ to $300+. My personal favorite scam is the $265 iFi Gemini Dual-Headed USB Cable (1.5 Meter) (UK branded and made in China), which is essentially the same concept as this USB Y-cable, I believe. With this little "Y-cable" trick, I could save on other fancy audiophile USB cables too as the result from this Y-cable alone was just great.5Ideal for "generic" external hard disk drives.The longer cord is very useful. This cable, with the extra (power only) USB connector, is a must have, if you have an externally connecting HDD. I've had a Hitachi 60GB SATA II laptop hard drive installed in a generic USB 2.0 external adapter case that came with a dual USB connecter cable like this, though much shorter and, I didn't much use it, preferring to use the longer mini USB to standard USB cable I already had to connect the HDD with. Well, after a few months, the drive started acting up, write errors, device dropping from Windows system and reconnecting, etc. When I realized it might be a low voltage issue, I went back to using the included cable and the problems ceased. I got this cable so I could place the drive back in its usual place on my desk. Works great!4Used for with my Raspberry Pi 3 for DVD playerWhen setting up my Raspberry Pi 3 as miniature DVD and CD player, I wanted to use the LG Electronics 8X USB 2.0 Super Multi Ultra Slim Portable DVD Writer Drive +/-RW External Drive with M-DISC Support (Black) GP65NB60 due to its being power via usb port. However, I quickly realized that the Pi could not by default provide enough power for the DVD player to reliably spin up, and sometimes not turn on at all if I was unlucky. To alleviate this issue, I sought out a wire that could provide extra power and still allow me to connect the DVD player for data transfer to the pie. This USB Y cable for A to B was perfect for the job, as the secondary cable allowed me to feed extra power via usb to the DVd player without needing to go through too many technical hoops. (I personally use the EasyAcc powerbanks I own [Fast and Efficient] EasyAcc 26000mAh Power Bank 4 Ports External Battery Charger Portable Charger for Android Phone Samsung HTC Tablets - Black and Orange for this purpose, as they have extra power ports to allow for multiple devices to be plugged in at once.)Now with this cord, I'm free to spin up any CD or DVD I want, without worrying about low spin speeds or complete no function due to low power!5Gets those older 2.5" hard drives spinningSome older 2.5" drives just don't like to spin up on the power provided by a single standard USB2 port. This effectively doubles the available power by pulling from two. It did what I was after, which is all I can ask. Construction seems competent and it hasn't fallen apart or shown any issues yet, despite rather constant use in a car to power a music drive. :P5Great for an external hard drive for my Wii U Does exactly what it is supposed to do. Deliver more power to a USB device. In my case, I used this to power an external hard drive for my Wii U. In there infinite wisdom, Nintendo opted to not send enough power through their USB ports to power an external hard drive via just one port, so you need this sort of thing to provide double power. 4... want to provide extra power to a USB device like a hard drive Depends on your usage - if you want to provide extra power to a USB device like a hard drive, this is the cable for you.If you want to use the power and send USB data at the same time, I'm not so sure (though it could be the limitations on a GoPro and not this cable). I wanted to hook up my GoPro Hero 3+ Silver to an external mic and an external power source at the same time so that it can be powered and recording at the same time through the single micro USB port, but it does not work with this cable. I know for a fact that it is possible, as other have done it by splicing a USB cable. 4Works well with external drive on Wii UI used this to connect an old Western Digital Passport external hard drive to my Wii U and it worked perfectly!5Needed to make WD Harddrive work with WiiUProduct works perfectly!When we upgraded to WiiU, we used our WD external harddrive to transfer all our data from our Wii to the WiiU. Since then, we have left the harddrive attached to the WiiU assuming that's where everything was being stored. Only recently did we get a notice that our WiiU was out of storage. It seems the WD harddrive could preform the transfer using a single USB Mini to USB but cannot work as storage for WiiU without additional power being drawn to the unit.
