Surprise it does a pretty good job of staying in place (will see if ... The items arrived as expected. Was skeptical that this stais treads would stay in place without taping it down but figure to try it out and if tape is needed then it still would be ok since I did not have high expectation. Surprise it does a pretty good job of staying in place (will see if time goes by how it stay but for now its working). The carpet itself is decent quality and feel soft when you step on it. I purchased the color brown and it is a nice brown not dark brown. This is a good buy I would recommend to anyone that is looking for stair treads. 5You'll have to buy more then you need. I like the look of them. They are pretty thin and ABSOLUTELY need some form of adhesive to hold them in place(see my crappy video). Either staples or small nails or double sided tape. A few of them in the box are also cut crookedly, as you can see in my photo, so you'll need to discard those. So buy enough to account for around 15-20% (in my case). My video shows how easily they slide on the stair. I do however like the length of them, it covers a lot of the stair. 3Exactly as expected. We don t wear shoes in the house. Socks are slippery. These stair treads are exactly what we need.ed.Unlike other reviewer s, our stair treads came packed flat in a box. They were not bent and I did not need to straighten them. We ordered two sets for all the many stairs in our house. Every one of them was usable and identical. Also, they were all cut straight. Although they are not the most attractive solution, they were affordable and work. We ordered the dark gray and they do show lint. We place them on the steps without tape and they do not move too much. I suppose they will need a quick adjusting every so often, but they are worth any effort. I cannot speak for durability, because we put them down only a week ago, but I had an identical product from Home Depot as a mat in our kitchen and we had to throw it out when it got too dirty, not because it was worn out. 5Lifesaver for wood stairs! We have a 90lb golden retriever that was TERRIFIED of the wood steps we added in our basement renovation. We were so scared she would slip or try skipping steps and hurt herself. Pros: The grey color is exactly as the images show. The pile is short and easy to vacuum. I haven t had to deal with any stains so far, but I doubt we d have an issue. Cons: we have chosen not to use any tape/adhesive for the sake of saving our steps. With the decision, I do find myself having to straighten the threads every few days or so. They do not move when anyone is walking on them, it s more when my toddler comes down the stairs sliding on his rear. TIP: these did come with a bump where they folded during shipping. We used water bottles for a couple of days to have them level out. Looked a little funny, but did the trick! 4provides excellent traction one of our boxers has a degenerative nerve disease that is progressing fairly rapidly. our staircase is hardwood, and we do not have a runner on it because--well--we like it that way. however, we want to keep our dog comfortable and active for as long as possible, and he likes to come upstairs to be with us. so, we bought these stair treads. in this color they are unobtrusive, and they provide mr. boxer with the traction he needs to get himself up the stairs. when we don't need them anymore, we will take them off. ps: don't forget to buy the tape and fix them firmly to the floor, or they will be more hazard than help! 5Saved our dog's life We were hesitant to purchase these after some of the other reviews. We have 3 dogs, one elderly who was slipping going up on the hardwood stairs and fell down a number of times going down. We bought the carpet tape to tape them down since it said it would not damage the hard wood floors. We have not used the tape yet. Our dogs are bounding up the stairs and the treads are not moving. We placed them against the back of the stair and no movement. I have taken each one off to dust the stairs and still, not moving. My son with work boots....he move them slightly but did not affect our dog's ability to navigate the stairs. Thank you! We could not be more pleased. And, if after washing, we need to use the tape we bought, so be it. 5Not durable. Cheap quality. Read before buying. Installed these treads six months ago because of the reviews. They are easy to install with the recommended tape and they looked nice. However, after six months' use, I regret buying them. Most of these reviews were probably written soon after installation. If you have high traffic stairs or dogs, I would not use them. They quickly start wearing at the edges and eventually curl up. Dogs tend to drag their feet over the edges of the stairs, and they do it the exact same way every time they go up. These treads cannot handle traffic at all. For the price you pay, they should be more durable. Also, even with tape, after awhile the treads will start pulling away from the tape. The back is covered with a rubbery material that crumbles away. If you do buy them, install the tape along the entire width at the very outside edges of the treads, and some in the middle too. See photo for what happened after six months' use. 1Pieces not made with consistency. 4 of the 14 pieces I received was made with crooked lines/sewing which does not look good. 2They stay in place without adhesive! These stay in place nicely (with no adhesive to ruin your wood)! We had some other brand that moved all over the place, and it was more dangerous than having nothing at all. I no longer worry about my kids tumbling down the very slippery stairs. They look nice and feel nice walking on them them in bare feet. 5These make it possible for him to go up and down easily and with no slipping These are exactly what we needed. Our aging dog struggles on the wood steps. These make it possible for him to go up and down easily and with no slipping.Do these stay in place? Yes and no. Over the course of a day the tend to drift on the step. However, they are not loose in the sense that they will come out from under you as you are walking. To make them truly secure would involve carpet tape and we are not going to go to that extreme. The way they are now is fine. These treads are not terribly thick but they are thick enough. Any thicker and they would likely be a tripping hazard. The secondary benefit is that it is now much quieter when anyone walks on the stairs. Not a goal but nice given our 5 year old walks as if he weighs 10,000 pounds. So if you need something to help on stairs these are great. 4
