Customer Reviews

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! I work with a 94-year-old advanced dementia patient. For a while, we have used the basic baby monitors to listen for her at night while she sleeps. As her dementia has progressed, she has become extremely adventurous and likes get out of bed, walk around her room and also walk around the house with no supervision! We were so fearful that we would not wake up and hear her exit her bedroom! The last thing we wanted was for her to fall down and hurt herself in the middle of the night while she was up wandering around! Purchasing this motion sensor monitor has absolutely been one of the best investments thus far! I have precisely set up this detection system so that she is unable to bypass it. Whether she crawls across the bed, crawls to the end of the bed or steps out of bed; the alarm will immediately sound and alert us! I am a pretty heavy sleeper (especially when I have been up with her during a manic episode of 24 hours plus). This monitor offers 2 alert sounds. The "chime" sounds similar to a doorbell and the "alarm" sounds like a car alarm going off. Preferably, I use the alarm sound. I cannot begin to express the amount of peace this product has given me! Attached to this review is a picture of my patients bedroom and a vague drawing of the set up of the motion detector. I truly hope this review helps! 5motion sensor works, but pager is loud with no volume control got this motion sensor alert system which consists of two devices, namely the motion sensor and the pager. there's an antenna on the motion sensor. you'll probably only have to extend the antenna if you intend to use the pager from a very far away distance. but if you have the motion sensor in a bedroom and the pager in a living room of a typical one-story single-family home, then you may not need to extend the antenna. for our situation, we're putting the motion sensor under a bed and the pager will be in the living room. however, the pager is so very loud. there is no volume control on the pager. to muffle the pager to an acceptable lower level but still audible enough to hear (yet still loud), our pager is going under a cushion in the living room couch. on the pager, depending on what setting that you use, it either sounds off with a musical tone or a tune. you will need three AA batteries for the motion sensor and two AA batteries for the pager. this thing works. and since it only makes a tone (or a tune), it is not jarring like other alarm systems (although this pager is still loud unless if you muffle it). we had one of those alarm alert devices, like those at hospitals, with a string at the end of which is a pin-clip that you attach to someone's shirt, but those don't work if the person unclips it. so, instead got this motion sensor system which is much better and isn't an annoyance to the person (patient) you are monitoring. you may have to adjust where you place the motion sensor to get it to sense the movement of legs/feet by the bed. otherwise, the device seems to work fine. oh, there is a little light below the sensor on the motion sensor device that flashes when the motion sensor senses movement. if you don't want that light to shine at night, then you may want to tape something over it.(fyi, bought this product from Amazon third-party marketplace seller Bed Alarms. they first sent the wrong product because of a clerical error, but they immediately sent out the correct product after my message complaining about the error. they also included a return fedex label. so it was easy to send back the wrong product.) 5Excellent product, even better for the price. This item we bought for my almost 80 year old grandmother who can't really walk and has dementia. She was always trying to get out of bed, or out of her whellchair, or recliner without help. We had bought one of those alarms with cords to attach to her shirt, but she always took it off, got up, then fell. This product is so amazing, and i don't say this lightly. We had tried other Motion sensors, and they just didn't read her movement at all. And the ones that did always sounded the alarm too late, then scared the heck out of her because the alarm would be right in the room with her and sound so loud you could hear it a little too clearly with it being downstairs and us being upstairs. My grandmother would slide herself all the way to the foot of her bed to try and bypass the guardrails try and get out from there. So, We placed the sensor under her bed, around where her feet would slip out of the bed and touch the floor. The device is so sensitive that it read everything that would pass it, whether dog, cat, a sheet coming down, etc. But the pager;s alarm is not loud, unless you adjust the volume that way, and it has two chimes: One that sounds like a doorbell chime, the other sounding like a type of old tune. You can attach it to anything, very simple to use. I completely recommend this Motion sensor for anyone who is caring for a very confuse elderly family member, or even if you want to know if your baby if crawling out of the crib. 5A good product with some minor but irritating flaws So far this product has functioned as advertised and been a major help in caring for an aging parent with Alzheimer's. It has two minor but fixable flaws that are unfortunately detracting from it's functionality. First problem - no volume control on the pager. It's loud and you can hear it clear across the house - a good thing sometimes, but if you and the pager are in the next room to the patient, it will definitely disturb them. Second problem is the choice of sounds that the pager makes. You can either choose an "alarm" sound which is similar to a smoke detector going off or the "chime" which sounds exactly like a doorbell and makes the patient think you need to answer the door. 4I can can go right back to sleep - I LOVE this product This is absolutely been a LIFE saver...or should I say NIGHT saver!! My dads problem wasn't so much getting out of bed - he is sure footed. The problem is 75% of the time he is confused about where is bathroom is (it's 5 feet from his bed...) and on these occasions he will wander out of his bedroom and look for a place to urinate (or more) - kitchen floor, his recliner, MY carpeted bedroom floor, etc etc. I put the detector unit flush against the door casing - so as soon as he crosses threshold my alarm is activated - I can get to him before he's even 4 steps beyond his room and gently redirect him to his bathroom. after I get him tucked back into bed I am feel so relieved that: A) he's not up alone at 2 am confused and wondering around, and b) I'm not starting my day with a mess somewhere it shouldn't be. I can can go right back to sleep - I LOVE this product. 5OK. Easy to use. no volume control new - model off switch doesn't respond quickly. I have used 2 of these for my wife with dementia (and I have just ordered 2 more because one failed. Haven't received them yet). She needs to be monitored when she is up. I use one in her bedroom and one by the bathroom door so I know when she is coming out. They are very easy to set up and pets will activate them in they are on their level. I have some complaints. 1) The first one I bought suddenly failed after about 2 1/2 years. not a battery problem. it seems to be a pager fail but nothing obvious when I took it apart. 2) both sensors use separate pagers so I have to carry both pagers. 3) There is no volume control and for carrying it on my belt, it is too loud and my wife hears the pager, but I don't think she makes a connection to the sensor. 4) When I first started using it the light on the sensor alerted my wife to its presence and she would turn it or cover it up. I covered the light with opaque tape and as her disease has progressed so I don't think she realizes what alerts me to her activity any longer'For the new model received Mar 2018 - the off switch on the pager doesn't immediately stop the chime, one mode chime continues for several seconds. No to happy with that. Still no volume control and the belt clip on new version doesn't work as well. 3Works well, nice and loud and portable. Love it. Wish I would have had this. I bought this for the caregivers that are caring for my mom as my mom fell twice in one week. She gets up at night to go to the bathroom but had brain radiation and for some reason does not realize when she is to weak to walk on her own lwaving her vulnerable to falling. Seems when she lays down her memory leaves her and rarely remembers anything at night. It works well as it alerts the caregiver that she is getting up. It is wireless and they can take the alerter where ever they go. I tested it and found if you point it to the side of the mattress that as soon as she lowers her leg over to get up it will alert the caregiver. The caregivers complained that it was loud but honestly that is the point right? It is defi itely loud and can be heard. There is no volume control whixh would be a great feature to have but I simply put tape over the speaker area to quite it. They still complained as it is only used at night so I wrapped it in a puppy potty pad and put in a ziplock bag so it can be takin in and out. Is there a better solution? Something more attractive, oh sure but it worked. If it needs to be less noisy, l then you can certainly find a solution and still have the volume needed if necessary. I love it and find it is pretty consistent. Since I got this she has not fallen so it is doing its job. 5We would highly recommend this motion sensor to other caregivers who may be ... This unit may very well be a life saver. My wife is caregiver for her 87-year-old mother, who suffers with dementia. To keep her from wandering the house at night, for the past two years she has slept with bed rails and has a wireless call button to alert us if she needs to get up to use the the bathroom. Unfortunately, as her dementia has worsened, she forgets she has a call button and has started to try and climb over the side rails of her bed. A very dangerous situation. We selected this unit because it can be wall mounted and fans out over the top of the bed. We located the proper height for mounting by my wife laying in her mother's bed and first, simulating just turning over, then grasping the raised rails and sitting up.The unit performs perfectly, despite the two bedrooms are 60 feet apart and separated by several other rooms. In just the past few days the receiver has alerted us twice, and my wife has been able to reach her mother's room to find her sitting up, but before she had a chance to try and climb over the rails. We would highly recommend this motion sensor to other caregivers who may be in a similar situation. The only downside to the purchase was the suggested AC adapter for this until will only work when wall mounted if retrofitted. The plug which goes into the rear of the unit is nearly an inch longer than the mounting bracket. You will either have to space the bracket an inch away from the wall, or just buy better fitting adapter. 5Lifesaver Works great. I can sleep soundly again in the next bedroom, and yet hear the chime when my 90 year mother ,who has alzheimers and a bad back, trys to get out of bed on her own to go to the washroom at night without calling for help. I wish I would have known that an AC adapter is available for the motion detector when I ordered the system, but I have used the system for almost 2 weeks and am still on the first set of AA batteries. Mounting the motion detector with the antenna horizontal seems to create a vertical plane that is broken, triggering the chime when my mother swings her legs over the side of the bed. When I mounted it with the antenna vertical ,the horizontal plane extended out into the hall way and the chime was triggered when someone walked past her bedroom door. The chime is triggered only when there is a change in conditions. Her walker is parked next to her bed and is in the plane of the beam, but as long as it is not moved the chime is not triggered. To save wear and tear on the motion detector on/off slider switch, and to avoid the chime constantly being triggered as I help my mother to and from her bed to the washroom, I cover the motion detector with a wash cloth. I knew that something like this system had to exist, because motion detectors are used everywhere. I had to search the internet to find it on Amazon.ca .I did not see it for sale in any local pharmacies and I have not seen it in use in any seniors nursing homes. 5Smart Caregiver TL-5102MP Motion Sensor I purchased this motion sensor as my wife has Dementia and gets up several times a night. She is usually disoriented when she gets up and has also fallen a few times and had created some messes by getting into things. I placed the motion sensor on the floor near the bed and placed the receiver/alarm on my dresser and set it so it chimes when activated; it works great and the chime is loud enough to wake me up so I can assist my wife. Since I started using this motion sensor it wakes me up when my wife gets out of bed and even better, she has not fallen or created any messes.I gave this motion sensor only four stars because there are two alarms sounds to choose from, the chime that I mentioned and a siren. The siren sound is obnoxious and it scared my wife when it sounded. I believe the manufacturer of this motion sensor could of and should of installed a more pleasant sound other than a siren. However, I do recommend this motion sensor and I will attest to the fact that it does work as intended. 4
