Customer Reviews

Perfect for live. Vocalist of 15+ years. Metal bands. Very hard to find a mic with good dynamic range that doesnt feed back like a banshee when playing loud and live. Comparing the 58 back to back with 3 others, it wins in all categories. Clarity, control, durability. It's a 58. It wins. You can throw it at your drummer's head and it will be fine.As for the studio, use something nicer. Or don't. Whatever. Every vocalist should have one. 5SM58's are the all-time standard for vocals, but the noiseless switch makes this mic even better I bought 2 of these mics for a jazz big band, and used one for the band director / MC, and the other for the vocalist, and they worked great. We had used SM58's with no switches before, but by having these noiseless switches, both of them could turn off their mics with no audible pop, which prevents the sound of the band bleeding into the band when you don't need any further amplification of the band. 5Nice little mic Great so far! I've used it for some simple home recording and rehearsing. I've used it once in a small, quiet venue and it worked great there too. Not so expensive I won't let my kids play with it. I haven't tried it yet for recording my acoustic guitar, but I'll update if I do. 5Avoid the cheap look-a-likes! This mic really performs!! I'm the PA announcer for our local high school's baseball, football, and basketball teams. Had always used the cheap knock-off mics the school provided. What a difference with the Shure SM58S!! Much improved sound quality! Crisp, clear vocal quality puts the others to shame. My favorite feature is the built in pop-filter that really works, especially when the crowd is roaring and I need to hold the mic close to my mouth! Highly recommended! 5The legendairy SM58, Switch version review Hi this is Ninjn, and this is me talking on the SM58S, S edition. I did not do any modifications to this audio.I have been using this to stream videos of me playing games on twitch. The mic itself is a bit boomy at times especially if you're too close.Other than that it holds very close to the SM7B in terms of quality, but the SM58S is a great buddget alternative. One thing to mention, is you will need a USB interface for the SM58. It uses a lot of gain. I personally use the Behringer UM2 for budget purposes. If you want to future proof a bit more instead of the UM2, get something like a Scarlett Solo gen2 or Behringer UMC202HD, plus the Cloudlifter amp or Fethead amp to boost the gain on the SM58. 5If you can only have one microphone in your arsenal, it should be this one. Is it the best sounding vocal mic? Nope. But it's perfectly fine unless you're singing opera or something with really exceptional dynamic range. And let's be honest here: is your voice really developed enough that a better mic will make you sound better? Mine's certainly not. There's a reason that probably 90% of touring musicians over the last few decades have used these, and it's not because they break easily and sound terrible. It's suitable for studio recording (and can be used on instruments, too), live performance, and defending yourself from would-be muggers in the back alley behind the dive bar where your band just played. 5Can't Go Wrong with Shure! Shure has been making great pics for many decades now; I still have my old SM-78 I bought in 1982 and it works great! It's been banged up and carted around, and still sounds as good as it did the day I bought it.This model seems to have more condensing properties, which works well for close vocals and onstage with a lot of other musicians standing close. 5Sure Its a Shure... I tested it against my other performance Mic's, and It DOES have a nice sound quality, and a nice warm (undertone)..It's a little smaller than expected..comparing it to my other mic's. and a little lighter..but I'm glad I got it..It has a quiet on/off switch..which helps control a hot mic and no "popping" noise on the on/off switch..Mave 5What is there to say, it's a 58. ... What is there to say, it's a 58. if you buy one I will bet if you are still not using it in 10 years someone else will be. 5It's just a switch! The SM58 is iconic and sounds like 60 years of great vocals. The difference on this model is the switch. A hot mic in a small studio can fry monitors with a blast of feedback. I know why sound guys hate switches on mics, but not all environments are created equal. Sometimes you just need the option of muting your mic, and this SM58 does it quietly. Shure deserves all 5 stars. 5
