    Good, with limitations.Having bought a nice new Shop-Vac when the one I found in the attic of my (very old) house had given up the ghost, I didn't want to trash the motor by sucking up the fine plaster dust caused by pulling down elderly lath-and-plaster walls. I knew I needed a HEPA filter to catch that sort of thing but every which way I looked it seemed like a hugely expensive option. Enter the high efficiency bags that filter out the fine dust, reducing the workload on the cartridge filter and (hopefully) meaning I don't get to buy another Shop-Vac when mine is still barely a few weeks old.The bag works well, with a couple of provisos. It sucks cleanly and, judging by what blows out of the exhaust vent of my Shop-Vac, catches just about everything being sucked up. For reference, when I've been pulling walls down the dust hangs in the air for some hours. When I go in a few hours later to suck up what I didn't manage to catch and put into construction sacks, the Shop-Vac doesn't show any signs of blowing any dust out of its vent. So a big plus there.The main downside is that the strength of the unit works against it. Plaster dust is heavy, and you don't get anywhere near 8 gallons of the stuff before the weight of the dust starts to pull the bag apart. Once that happens the bag starts to break, dust being sucked into the Shop-Vac then isn't caught as efficiently, and that means all sorts of bad things. The cartridge filter then has to rise to the challenge and anything it doesn't catch end up sucked into the motor. That's not good for the longevity of the Shop-Vac.It's easy enough to manage it, basically you just empty the bag before it gets heavy enough to be difficult to move around. The bag won't be full, but they are cheap enough to be more or less disposable and it's cheaper to actively manage bag usage than to buy a new Shop-Vac.For those reading this it's probably too late to make this particular decision, but if I'd known then what I know now I'd have seriously considered a smaller Shop-Vac, rather than having an 8-gallon unit that I can't fully use because it gets so heavy.Update March 2018...Still very happy with the bags but be aware that you'll lose a lot of the benefit if you use a hose that doesn't push inside the hole. I used a hose from another shop vac so I could use a basic dust separator, and got lots of fine dust inside the vac. It clogged the filter and I lost a lot of suction, and no doubt some fine dust got blown out of the vents too. A new hose designed for a shop vac with a deflector that sits inside the bag solves the problem. Not an issue relating to the bag itself, so the 4-star rating remains, but if fine dust can get sucked into the filter before it even gets into the HEPA bag you'll lose a lot of the benefit of the HEPA bag. 4Exactly What I NeededI recently had to replace a little trouper of a tank vac I'd had for years. It didn't use bags so I had no idea one was even available. I was using the thing to clean up around bird cages and that can really take a tole on a vacuum. I've burned up a few trying to find one that would do the job better (and quieter) than my noisy little tank. So when it finally got dust-clogged I went searching for a new one and discovered they recommend these bags for that use. Now I have a bigger (but sadly not quieter) tank vac for my cages and these bags were exactly what I needed. 5My shop vac is now almost HEPA.A while back i garbage picked a shop vac that had been barely used but thrown out. I figured if it was broken i would just throw it away myself, but upon examination, some highly intelligent Darwin award winner had used it to clean up metal shavings without putting a filter or bag in it. I carefully extracted the shavings from every orifice and installed a paper motor filter and one of these high efficiency bags and was immediately blown away at how nothing but air came out of the exhaust of the shop vac. I have even cleaned up sheet rock and spackling dust and this bag traps all of that really fine stuff. I'm impressed. 5Inexpensive HEPA Filter - Great For Auto DetailingThese Shop-Vac bags are great! My vacuum needs a new paper filter, the foam cover and the dust filter due to missing parts or improper use. Considering the cost of these items vs. the cost of a new Shop-Vac, these filter bags is a great solution.I use this vacuum to clean my vehicle and the sheet rock bag is awesome to collect the very fine dust from the floor mats and it does not blow dust out the exhaust. Some people complain about the cost of these vacuum bags. I don't see the issue unless you are remodeling and should be using a broom for heavy debris removal.Keep n mind this sheet rock bag also cleans the air which can impact your health from airborne dust. 5It works, overpriced and a weird size, only available from Shop-Vac.Ok, why only 3 stars for a vac bag. Simply, overpriced for a small size.Most vac bags come in 5 packs for half this price. Shop-vac makes this weird size non generic bag size that requires you use their model and brand. So, they charge way too much.It's like those Simple Human trash cans. Great cans, I own four, but they have these crazy and unique sizes that require a proprietary bag that is overpriced. For the Simple Human cans, I use a generic bag and make it work. But, the Shop-Vac will no accept any bag than the one from Shop-Vac.So, hopefully, someone will make a simple and generic bag.Other than that, it does work 3A fundamental part of my anti-sawdust strategyThis is a fundamental part of my anti-dust setup. I finally figured out it correlated w/ exposure to sawdust when I started doing my wood working in the closed garage. So I got really serious about sawdust this year and guess what? No health problems this year. My only regret is I bought this for my small-ish 3 hp shopvac. If I had to do it over I'd replace the shopvac w/ a small 5-6 hp model, THEN get the HEPA filters. 5Great quality bagsLove these bags. They fit my shop- vac perfectly and held up to my heavy drywall project. The quality was unbelievable. No dust escaped in the air. Would love to have had these in my shop years ago. I do not plan to run out of these. This was one of the best investments I have made especially with the reasonable price. These bags are sturdy enough to handle any project I do around the house as well as in my garage. It's perfect for sanding drywall mud. There is a substantial difference in airborne dust reduction using these than other brands or even the regular "white" filter shopvac bags. I've tried quite a few out there so trust me, theres nothing that comes close at this price point.They usually go on sale for $8.94 on Amazon. Store prices are $14-17. I only buy them at the lower price on here and stock up.I also wear the 3M Half Facepiece Reusable Respirator 7500, Respiratory Protection with its assortment of filters. I wear quad P-100 filters. No amount of dust can get past these into my lungs.Tip:1. Once you install the bag, clear tape both sides of the cardboard opening of the filter bag onto vacuum tank because it may occasionally come loose. (really bad when it does happen)2. If they feel clogged, take the vacuum outside and drop the vacuum maybe 2-6inches onto the ground) or shake the bag a little. This will free up dust that is stuck in the pores of the bag. This also extends the life and capacity of the bag. I used to toss these when they clog even though it's only filled at half capacity. Now, I can use it even longer.Comment:I prefer rigid vacuums but I'm not sure if these will fit over rigid. The shopvac 12-gallon high efficiency bags are nice and cheap also, they are probably a better deal than these 5-8 gal bags. 5Great filtering and great suctionThese filter bags allow for a huge amount of airflow and suction while still filtering out even very fine dust. I can t say what size it filters out, but I ve done sawdust, general garage grit and dust from the stuff that gets on the cars in the winter after it dries, and even a little bit of drywall compound dust without any blow through. When the suction drops off, you just toss it and start fresh. Maybe not quite as cost effective and the cartridge filters but it seems like you get better performance. Will buy again. 5
