Customer Reviews

It is Recertified Product. I received two 1TB drives from TechnodealsUSA. Both are Recertified Product. Nowhere in the description it mentions the drive is recertified. Since the drives will be used in company servers, I have been cautious not to use used or recertified drive. 1DO NOT BUY THESE thay are 4 years old at minimum these drives were clearly marked as new never used and were also marked as new on the liquidators label on the drive its self and as you can all see im my photos 42000 hours run time "new" ya right this is clearly false advertising and i am going to follow this up with DATA protection rights investigation because there was clearly readable data on both of these drives that i received and it is probably somebody elses sensitive user data off of a data farm somewhere ya your company is under liquidation that duz not expunge you from the clear and blaitent neglegence of selling used drives with out proper DD procedures being executed if you can not properly wipe a hard drive with a deep enough right intensity and frequency than you than you are required to destroy them this is exactly how company's like the international credit agency called equfax loses hundreds of millions of people sensitive social security and personal information this is all beside the fact that i payed for 2 new drives that were within a warranty period and i received 2 old ones that were clearly puled from a system and are outside of warranty NOT ACCEPTABLE PEOPLE 1FALSE WARRANTY ADVERTISED Website as of 10/21/16 advertises item as eligible for limited manufacturer's warranty. Manufacturer's website list item's SIN as OEM and thus not eligible for warranty. RETURNED. 1These are used OEM drives out of a Dell System. NOT NEW!! Warranty expires in less than 60 days. The seller of these drives is less than honest. Do yourself a favor and verify hard drive serials numbers with the manufacturer. I did just that. I contacted Seagate via their website. You fill in your information including the drive serial numbers and the website warns the serial number has an issue and you must contact Seagate support directly. So I did just that again via their website which ask for a brief description why I am inquiring about warranty. Two minutes later I received a phone call and I was informed by Seagate that these are in fact Dell system drives removed from a Dell piece of equipment. The warranty would need to be administered by Dell if the hard drive was still part of the original install via the original purchaser. The warranty expires in less than 60 days from today's date for these drives. I needed these hard drives now so I contacted Amazon and suggested a compromise. I ask for half the purchase price in return because I did not want more down time for my local network. Amazon agreed and my issue has been resolved. Thanks Amazon. That is why I keep coming back. You take care of your customers. I did test the drives and they work as described, but I grow tired of 3rd party sellers that lie to their customers. An honest description with an honest price would have gotten 5 stars due to the fact that the drives seem to perform well. 2Same Model Number but NOT the same drive!!! Although I have purchased many items from Amazon, this is my first review. We purchased five drives from Newegg.com in June for a server and purchased four of these drives (exact same Model Number) from Amazon. We tested the drives with SMART tools and the drives from the Amazon seller took more than twice as long to complete the test! We swapped bays that the drives were plugged into to ensure that it wasn't an issue with the controller or backplane and the problem followed the drives. Upon further inspection we found that although they are the same Model Number, they have different Part Numbers. Seagate's warranty validation site stated that the warranty for the Newegg drives is covered by Seagate but that the Amazon-sourced drives are covered by the OEM. One of the Amazon-sourced drives already has a pre-failure SMART notice. I contacted the seller but they were not interested in helping me out. Obviously we don't want to mix the two sets of drives in the server, so we ended up ordering more of the fast drives from Newegg. 1Selling USED drives as NEW I ordered two new drives from Tek Solutions. When they arrived my first thought was "They don't look new". I was correct. smartctl reports the drives have a powered on time of 21800 hours, which is 2.5 years. After a month of using them, one drive has bad sectors. These drives also come up as OEM on Seagates website and they will not honor the warranty. Check you items upon arrival!!! 1The ES.3 from Seagate. I see some reviews that are critical of these drives. I have had 4 now and all are silent running. In an external case I am getting amazing USB3 transfer rates with no errors. Amazon has some 2TB models of this drive for half price. I purchased one and it is the same as this one. Fast and error free. With the regular Seagates I was getting an occasional buzz...click which always worried me. I have yet to hear any from one of these. By the time the 5 year warranty is up, SSDs will have taken over. Until then.... 5Nice HDD for not a lot of money. This unit is an "Enterprise" HDD and, according to Intel, is built better to last longer than standard consumer drives. This may or may not be true as other data suggests that they fail just as regularly as any other HDD, but I bought this drive primarily because of its price and free shipping. Any brand new (I checked) 1TB drive that costs less than $45.00, arrives within three days and actually works is good, as far as I'm concerned. After cloning my original HDD to this drive and swapping drives, my system booted up and was slightly faster than my old, failing drive, which is good. The drive is SATA III, but my controller is SATA II, so it's slower than optimal but it is what it is.After running the drive for a couple of days, I found that this is a perfectly adequate drive for not a lot of money. I have only two caveats:First, it is fairly noisy, which is apparently a trait of "Enterprise" drives. It's not an irritating noise as far as I'm concerned, as I actually like to know that it's operating, but it is noisier than a Barracuda drive.Second, there is no Seagate factory warranty on the drive. Entering the drive's model and S/N on Seagate's web site tells you that the drive was "part of a larger purchase" (i.e. OEM) and is not covered by a Seagate warranty. On a $45.00 drive, including tax and shipping, who cares if the warranty sucks. If the drive fails and you haven't done a backup, you're pretty much up the creek, warranty or not. 4Beware the bait & switch... ... if you buy from Platinum Micro! I ordered a new ST6000NM0024 device, but I was sent a ST6000NM0115 device instead! Granted, the capacity of the two drives is the same, and the interfaces are the same, but their performance characteristics are different. And since I needed a ST6000NM0024, that's what I ordered! It was a huge waste of my time and money to wait for delivery, receive the wrong item, and then take the time to process the RMA. If Platinum Micro can't bother to read incoming orders and fulfill them as required, what's the use of using this service? I went to TechPartz instead.N.B.: I would give the ST6000NM0024 product a 5-star rating, but I feel like it is more important, in this case, to downrate it in order to protect possible future customers from a bad seller that is obviously not being disciplined by Amazon.com. The ST6000NM0024 device is fantastic and I recommend it highly to anyone who needs a low-cost enterprise HDD with excellent performance characteristics and long lifespan. 1False Advertizing. Used sold as new! I normally don't review items, but this one deserves mention. On the original item page, it NOWHERE mentions a re-certified or used drive. In the upper right corner it says "Buy New". I did a one click purchase and moved on. I received this drive today and immediately hooked it up to one of my Linux servers and ran smartctl. For those who do not know about smartctl, it reads ALL the S.M.A.R.T. tables in the drive. This drive had over 28000 power on hours. Save the math. 3.23 years of power on time. Also show a ton of errors of various types. Seagate drives show smart different than most. The errors could be because of buffer overflows etc. However, power on hours are a sold count not to be ignored. After heading to the order page to return the drive, I saw this at the bottom of the order details page.Seagate 2TB Enterprise Capacity HDD SATA 6Gb/s 128MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive (ST2000NM0033)Sold by: ANYHDD$96.99Condition: New - NEW 0 HOUR RECERTIRFIED - INSTOCK - SHIPS TODAY - 1 YEAR WARRANTYMy one click did NOT show this.
