Customer Reviews

Disappointed. Look elsewhere I really wanted to like this product but too many flaws/drawbacks that prevent this. Like other reviews have mentioned this product does not close or snap shut which can lead to it opening up and allowing items to spill. The Snapak is way too flimsy and easily bends and dents with minimal pressure. This cannot get banged around or it will bend or the hinges will break easily. If you work outside like i do and rely on this, this is not the product for you. I was hoping this would be more durable and it simply is not. I hope Saunders or Amazon sees this and offers a replacement or solution, I really wanted to like this product. 2Not sure what it's exactly supposed to help with Used it with the generic repair invoice book because the invoice book kept getting crumpled and torn flying around my van and tool bag BUT it doesn't hold pens or anything useful other then the invoice book. I ended up riveting this little satchel to the side to hold collected checks, my card reader, pens etc. This product shouldn't be more than $10 to be honest. 3Beauty Sand Function: Terrible Design Here's the short version: The design is terrible... Both in terms of wasting space and utilization of the clipping feature. It doesn't open up in a way that allows it to be used like a regular clipboard and securing papers into it requires an extra step that I find unecessary. For those of you looking for more details, continue reading...INTENTION OF USE | I purchased this clipboard to replace an old one at work that contains the master copy of our daily patient schedule. As a hemodialysis RN, I believed that this clipboard would provide our clinic with a functional tool that would look good in the process. I felt that the privacy screen would empower the staff to be more consciousness of protecting our patients' information. I assumed it could be folded over to allow easy access to the schedule throughout the day and then closed at night so as not to be viewed by the janitorial staff (not that they would want to but we must actively prevent unecessary disclosure of patient information). Additionally, the strip on the left side of the clipboard appeared to be a pocket, which would have been ideal for storing written prescriptions that we occasionally hold onto for a few days at a time to pass out to patients when they arrive for their dialysis treatments.POOR DESIGN | Here's the issue I immediately identified upon receiving this item: The clipboard can NOT be positioned to maintain the primary contents (AKA: The actual documents that are secured by the clip) without keeping the entire unit open. Therefore, to reveal the paper, one must open the cover. This doubles the surface area is a huge waste of space.SIDE FEATURE | The area that appeared to be a pocket (that I was going to use to place prescriptions in) is actually just a strip. It's difficult to open/close and started to scrape the surface up just after I tested it out a few times during my inspection. Furthermore, I don't see any point in it (except maybe to keep a file folder???)CLIP | In order to open the clip to secure papers into it, a mechanism must be rotated. This little piece must be turned back in order for the cover to close. It doesn't look too durable so if it breaks, there goes the entire purpose of owning a clipboard! It will be useless.QUALITY/MATERIAL | I'm also unimpressed by the quality. The material is decent looking but the alumnium is a little on the thin side. The corners are rather sharp and could easily cause an abrasion if someone were to collide into it with force. I can imagine this easily getting dented or scraped up. As I intend on returning this, I will not be actually using it in order to provide a time tested testament.Let me emphasize: It is nice looking. But what's beauty without function? What bothers me most about this clipboard, and the overall experience, is that the design was not disclosed in the product listing. Neither the photo nor the product description suggested that it had to be open in order to access the documents that are secured by the clip. How difficult is it to include more pictures in the product listing??? I feel that as a consumer, my time was wasted.By simply enabling the hinges to rotate the cover underneath the section that contains the clipboard, this would be a reasonable product. It would allow it to be utilized as a regular clipboard or kept open (I'm sure there are individuals out there who would find this feature useful, even though I personally can think of no need it). 1Awesome for LEO usage! If you're a law enforcement officer and looking for a great citation book, I recommend checking out this Saunders 10507 holder. The size is perfect for keeping a few citations on hand. And the best part is it fits conveniently in your duty bag, and pulling it out to write a traffic citation on inside the car is a breeze. This isn't a giant holder that makes it difficult (and dangerous) to write a citation by adjusting your seated angle in order to cleanly write. You can simply rest this light weight board against your wheel, and always have the vehicle in your field of view while writing the ticket. It even has a few compartments inside that you can tape a cheat sheet too with associated fines, violations, etc. It doesn't clasp closed however, so just be aware of that if you keep a bunch of documents inside and accidentally drop it or have to throw it down. But all in all, I love it and the quality is extremely high for what you pay for. The design is also simple as well and you can tell it's made with practicality in mind, and not just having unnecessary flaps or pockets that get in the way. 5On the whole, pretty good I don't know why it is so hard to find side opening clipboards; how can anyone successfully juggle the bottom opening kind? After one too many paper blizzards (and my money's worth; 5 yr)...This is a slightly lighter gauge aluminum than the other brand often seen. This may be five years of "progress," or it may be that Saunders just uses lighter materials. It appears to be a harder alloy but bottom line is that with sharper breaks and a few rivets, it's probably about equally robust. However, I'm an inspector, not a doer. I don't think that any of these aluminum clipboards are going to survive mixing it up with heavy objects or being used as a hammer (I was a Navy guy, deal with it ()) or shield (using the previous unit as a kneeler under circumstances that I do not recall was the proximate cause of its demise). Also, either format can give you or your loose clothing a nasty nip.I find the side hinge format superior and it is inherently simpler, though the bottom hinge format arguably has more capacity and better protection for blank or completed forms or notes. If you use one of these things pretty much all day everyday (as I do) I'd fer sher give both variants a look, more easily said than done because the side hinge version never seems to be stocked for some reason. 4Sturdy Just what I wanted, and should last my lifetime as long as I don't run it over with my truck. This has a spring-loaded pad holder, that will hold a pad, or individual tickets. It also has a metal piece that hinges from the bottom, that you can place a carbon ticket over the top of while it is held in place by the clip, so that you get sharp carbon copies below the original, with no risk of marring any tickets below. The whole thing opens with a hinge on the side like a book, and on the left hand side (when open) there is a swinging piece about an inch wide, that can hold loose papers in place, and is the perfect size to clip a pen onto, so you always have one handy. It does not latch shut, so keep that in mind. Also, there are different sizes of these, from about the size of a cafe order ticket, up to a regular notebook paper, so be sure to get the one you need. 5Worth Every Penny!!!!! I'm a little late with my review BUT I thoroughly make sure the product is exactly what it claims to be and holds up to the torture I put it through with my job before I give my review on items. I am a Tow Truck Driver and I bought this in April '15. I can say without a doubt this is the best clipboard I've ever purchased. It may be made out of "THIN" aluminum but don't let that fool you, discourage you or question it's durability. It withstands and holds up perfectly against the torture and abuse of the Towing industry. I highly recommend it and actually I'm purchasing a 2nd one now cause I'm giving my old one to a new driver we just hired. So if you're looking for a small invoice or receipt ticket clipboard this is the one you want. 5Great form holder Works great for giving estimates. I used to use a form holder seperate from the tablet. That was before I put velcro on the tablet and just stuck it on the inside of the form holder. Holds great. By the way, the aluminum on this product is beefier than the competition. 5Just plain weird. Weird that it doesn t stay closed. Nothing to snap it closed. It just folds like a book and if not held properly will just open up. The metal flap that folds down on the clipboard side is just annoying and useless. It should have the clipboard on the outside as well. Not sure why it s designed like this. 3Great clipboard! My last one made it 7 years! Side opening is a great feature! I love this clipboard. Used it daily for about 7 years, then of course what happens finally, I get in a rush while down in Arizona, leave it between my cab and trailer and then..... see photo below! 50,000 pounds of trailer took care of my old one. Recovered enough to get the part number from it and thankfully was able to find it on amazon at a great price. This is a great clipboard because it is not as big and bulky as most aluminum ones. I don't like the spring loaded form holder on the outside, they never last and get dented and bent up really fast. This is the best style clipboard I have ever used for my work as a delivery driver. Glad I was able to find the same style, you just don't see this style very much anymore. If I get another 7 years out of this one, I'll be happy again, though I should be retired by then, but I'll still use this clipboard for something. 5
