    Not compatible w/ iPhone Xs Not compatible with iPhone Xs version. I returned the first one thinking it was a faulty lav device, however the second one gave me the same issue. When I plugged it to any other iPhone that was not the iPhone Xs it worked fined. 1Really works well with mobile devices on the fly. This item is very good for if you are using an iOS or Android item to record audio. This cord is a must if you are planning on trying to record from a shotgun mic into a mobile device. The TRRS instead of TRS is an additional line that is picked up by the mobile device so it doesn't automatically stay recording to the internal mic on the mobile device. I use this with my Rode Mocro Boom Pole, Rode MicroMe Mic, the Apogee (Maestro) App along with an iPod touch, or iPhone 6s+ when I need to do on the fly recording. 5EXTREMELY USEFUL FOR ZOOM USERS > at least with lapel mics... OVERPRICED AS ALL HECK > It does a good job though, needed it for a H1 Handy and a Lapel Mic...:: PROS ::1.) It's pricey and shipping sucks, but it's super useful for audio work.2.) A must have for H1 Zoom users with lapel mics.3.) NO STATIC OR DROP IN SIGNAL PICKUP!!!:: CONS ::1.) Too expensive in my opinion for what you get.2.) No PRIME at the time of my order :(3.) To be able to connect the mic you need this super overprice cable which looks and feels super cheap. Although the hissing has been reduced, noise is still present. This is a $100 investment in both cable and mic and it cannot deliver the most basic function. I am not looking for super professional audio quality, all I want is clean audio. On top of that Rode wants more money for their buggy recording app. If you build good stuff you can charge whatever you want, but cutting corners in quality and wanting to make a huge profit is unethical. I have a laptop that has the combo Line-In/Microphone input. It only wants to record though on the Microphone channel. I have an E-Drum set and it has a headphone jack for output. It wants to output on the left/right channels but not the microphone channel. I had bought a 4 band cable and while the laptop saw that a microphone was plugged in, no sound really came through. My iPod on the other hand worked great in this setup, sending to the laptop. Conversely, the iPod did NOT see that a microphone was plugged in using this 4 band cable so it wouldn't record either.I stumbled upon this adapter and bingo. Everything simply works! I take my normal stereo 3 band cable, plug it into my E-Drums headphone jack, then attach this adapter. My laptop now records the audio via the Microphone channel and my iPod Touch does as well. Simply brilliant. 5Essential Buy for Connecting a TRRS Micriophone to Your Camcorder or DSLR I bought the SmartLav+ which is a great lavalier microphone but comes with a TRRS (Tip Ring Ring Sleeve) jack compatible with smartphones but not standard 3.5mm microphone jacks commonly found on DSLRs and camcorders. Enter the SC3, a no-nonsense high quality adapter cable from Rode with a female TRRS port and a male TRS jack. Great quality with gold plated contacts and Rode branding, this will solve your compatibility problems using the SmartLav+ or similar microphones with TRRS jacks on your standard TRS compatible equipment. 5You need this cable when using iPhone Works perfectly. Remember if you are using your Rode Mic with an iPhone you will need to have this cable. Some of the mic's come with cables so let me break it down. The cables the mic's come with have 2 rings this cable has 3 rings. You want to plug the Gray head into the iPhone and the black one into the mic.Yes it will recored without using this cable and just using the cable the mic comes with but you might get a hum or a pop in your audio. Also heads up. If you are buying a Rode mic from here make sure its from a place you buyer you trust. Apparently there have been quite a few counterfeits. Just a heads up. Hope this review helps. The cable is great buy one. 5Iphone IOS version issue I have been searching online but have found no help. I thought this cable was defective because it would not work on my Iphone 6s Plus. I have tried different Iphone 6s Plus and Iphone 6s as well with no luck. I am trying to live stream with facebook app and put the sound from the mixer in but will not work with newer Iphones. I found out that it will work on Iphone 6 or 6+. I suspect its got to do with the IOS version. They must have turned off something to make it not work. I would advise you to check the Iphone IOS version before purchasing this product. If you have the newest IOS, good luck with getting it to work. If anyone figures out how to fix it then comment below.Update, this thing will not work with above iPhone 6. I just checked the firmware version but it s the same as iphone6s.
