Customer Reviews

A good affordable mount for Epson 8350 I got the "QualGear QG-PM-002-WHT-L" (Long White version). Works nice with my Epson 8350 (16lbs) ... I think same as in their stock pics. I'm using fully compressed at about 22 inches, but I think it can also be re-configured and used without the adjustable-bar installed as well (more like the shorter flush-mount version). Hardware assortment pieces were excellent, and had everything I needed. Comes mostly assembled, so be sure to double-check tightness of ALL nuts and bolts (but don't over-tighten).It seems adequately sturdy and we have never seen any image shaking or vibrations. However, I guess it should be noted that this is a single-level residence (no walking on floor above projector). You can make fine adjustments, but there are no actual "fine adjustment" knobs ... but it's not like you need them with the Epson 8350. I just hold projector perfectly level, lens parallel to screen, and tighten all the screws down (fairly permanently). Since install, there has been no movement or drift requiring re-adjustment of mount. We like it. 5great price, solid mount. This is hard to beat for the price, very flexible configuration, pretty easy to setup, and appears to be well made, no plastic parts in critical places and metal is decently thick. I used it to hang an Epson 2045 in my basement, took a bit longer than average because i was wanting to tweak the setup. The Epson has two front and one middle mount points, so I removed two arms and put the middle bolt through one of the spiral slots to achieve a more neutrally balanced hanging point. As a result I could leave the adjuster screws a bit looser for easy fine tuning until I had projector positioned right. I also initially modified the articulation rig by removing one of the brackets (there is the top plate, a middle bracket, and a hanger bracket, each turned 90 degrees and each with a slotted screw hold to allow for about 15 degrees of articulation. ) to reduce the drop by about 2 inches, but found I ended up having to do a vertical keystone, so added it back for a near perfect alignment without keystone. due to the use of three vertical pivot points you can adjust slightly left to right as well as up\down and rotate on x. this flexibility is nice but can be touchy to get just right. overall i'm pleased (except i screwed up and got white, can't blame them for my snafu) only minor ding was one of my screws was missing its washers, but there were some i didn't need that i could borrow from (when i removed the arms i just reporposed the washers) comes with a variety of mount screws, spacers, etc for mounting just about anything.A note on removing the middle bracket, You do lose left\right adjustment, so may end up needing a h-keystone, but you get around 2 inches closer to ceiling. The second set of holes didn't really line up with the ones on the projector mount, but I spread that bracket and squeezed the ceiling bracket just a touch and then after getting the projector up i just lifted it a bit until the lower screw holes came into position. I used the shorter nylon spacers that were initially on the removed bracket. The only thing was since you lift the projector slightly you do risk the projector mount sliding off the ceiling mount screws until you get the lower screw into place. 53 Holes on my Optima projector, and it worked great! 10x cheaper than Best Buy I have an Optima HD26. There are 3 mounting holes and at first glance i didn't think this mount would work since its set up for 4 holes. However, I was able to simply remove one of the 4 arms and was able to mount it to my projector with ease. I did have to take off, turn 180 degrees and reinstall the internal mounting arms. The made the mounting holes a lot closer together which matched the pattern of my projector. I like how the mount on the ceiling has a hook so you can simple place your projector up there before tightening any screws. This saves your arms from getting super tired. Adjusting, tilt, roll, and pitch was very easy... I highly recommend this product. I saw a similar mount at Best Buy for $150.... 10x what i paid for this one on Amazon. 5Higher Quality, Very Clear Instructions, Nicely Packaged and Organized!! QualGear QG-PM-002-WHT-L Projector Ceiling Mount with Adjustable Extension Column AccessoryI paid $29.95 for this item, but had previously purchased the #1 selling VideoSecu PJ2W for $24.59. However as I got closer to doing my installation I realized the maximum 28 inch vertical drop from my ceiling that it would provide wasn't going to be enough so needed the near 35 inch capability on this product. However, I had already spent probably an hour trying to decipher the poor manual and random jumble of parts of the VideoSecu product. When this arrived, I was thrilled and awestruck by the difference not only in quality (ex. the extension arm is much more solid and adjustable), but most importantly in the clarity of the instructions and the superb packaging of all the materials so it is very easy to assemble. I was done putting this together in under 20 minutes as a result.I have an Epson 2040/2045 which only has 3 mounting holes. No problem, I removed two of the four arms. I used the thick M-L spacers on all 3 holes but used an additional M-I (thinner) on the front 2 holes and the slightly thicker M-K on the back hole, to adjust for some of the space difference by not using an arm for the back hole (so the front 2 holes had MI and ML, the single back hole had MK and ML). I then used the same M-B screw on all 3 holes that are screwed into the projector (for the back hole that is being connected via the mount body instead of an arm, you just swap out the screws).Anyhow, this is stable, incredibly adjustable, and the cable management works great. I am very pleased with the whole experience with this product....and now just have to figure out what to do with that inferior VideoSecu mount. 5The good, it does what it should and the quality ... I used the low profile mount with my Optoma HD26 projector. The good, it does what it should and the quality of construction is really good. Its all metal and has a nice powder coated finish. It allows a lot of adjustments and comes with plenty of hardware options for mounting your projector. The bad; the instructions are terrible. Obviously its universal so they can't make it perfect for your device but illustrations were hard to understand and nothing was mentioned about the direct of the bracket. In fact I mounted mine "sideways" as this suited me needs better than the way shown. Second, this thing is huge. My projector holes were so close that they nearly fit inside the round part without needing any arms. But since it was just a little bigger I has be creative and try position them very creatively. Lastly kit gives concrete anchors and wood mounting hardware. Im willing to bet that most people are going into drywall, so why omit these? 3Good Mount, Just Too Many Parts to It. I installed this on the ceiling for my Epsom home theatre projector. Where it is installed is not a place that one would consider easy, but that's not the fault of the item. I sometimes need to nudge the projector slightly to keep the projection off the wall and onto the screen after turning the projector on.I needed to get better screws to attach to ceiling. That's not a problem.I just find there are too many useless parts included. I'm sure that this is done by the manufacturer to cover all the different projectors out there. For me, I just tossed away 20% of the item.Overall, it has been holding up just fine for 2 years. Decent value for the price. Didn't really even use the instructions much. 4versitile Preface this review with the fact that QualGear offers a free HDMI cable for a review (Good or bad I presume). I have an older projector (Mitsubishi hc4900) which was given to me. With mechanical aptitude I think this mount will fit any projector. My projector came with only three screw attachments and they are not in a symmetrical layout. I mounted projector and mount on the ceiling successfully. Mount comes with lots of extra parts to make any installation work. Don't expect detailed instructions for your particular unit, there are just too many. My projector isn't "rock solid" up there, but once tightened up, it doesn't lose its projection angle with me pressing its buttons, moving the unit ( I have since ordered a remote control to avoid touching the projector). Anyway it still points to where I set it to, even with me pushing it around when operating the buttons. Recommended product and the price can't be beat for the value! 5Great device, poor quality hardware This turned out to be pretty easy install, and works great on my angled cathedral ceilings. The only downside of this product is that the main screws are very low-quality; somewhere between weak metal and silly putty. I had to go to Home Depot to purchase these four main bolts utilized in attaching the device to the ceiling because there was no chance they could be used to drill into even the cedar studs in my ceiling with out the screw setting immediately stripping out.Once I had those, everything else was great. It holds the device tight & made it easy to make micro-adjustments. 4it has incredibly easy to follow instructions This is the second ceiling mount I have installed in less than 4 days; it has incredibly easy to follow instructions, and the multi-angle adjustments are a breeze as well as hold securely.I can't emphasize enough that the ease of putting this up and making final adjustments is far superior to the other mount I tried, as well as others I saw. And the price is unbeatable. One thought - the instructions and pictures show a 4-hole mount for a large projector (holes far from center), whereas my Optoma has 3 holes close together. No problem, as this mounting plate and adjustable arms appear useful in just about any configuration; in my case I used 2 small arms and the third mounting hole just screwed directly through the plate itself. 5Great quality, great instructions, don't drop it on your head Full disclosure - there is a flyer with the product that asks you to review the product within seven days of purchase in order to receive a free HDMI cable. It does not ask for a good (or bad) review, just that I review the product. Now, on to the review.Right out of the nicely packed compact cardboard box, it seems like a good quality product. The parts are all metal and very hefty and solid. I definitely wouldn't want to be bashed in the head with this. The instruction manual is a nice glossy pamphlet, written in proper English and includes a part inventory list and enough diagrams to rival a Lego set manual. It also includes a cardboard wall marking template to make hole drilling a cinch. The hardware is all organized individually in lettered plastic pouches, which is a dying art. Plenty of washers and solid screws, so it's clear they want this thing to function properly. It's amazing how few products come with proper washers and screws these days.I assembled it and it's currently awaiting its projector life mate. I'm only reviewing it now to qualify for me free HDMI cable, but everything I've said about its quality is true.If it ends up being terrible, I will update my review to reflect that. 5
