Customer Reviews

Not your Ultimate stand... You get what you pay for. These are decent stands for the price, but I agree with other reviews that they are on the thinner side of similar products. Yes they are very light weight and made with all the right specs, but will scratch very easily. They came boxed and sealed well. Tucked inside thin bubble bags and they arrived showing wear just from the legs rubbing against each other. The safety bar is a bit narrower then I've seen on others but it gets the job done. Again this has allowed them to be less expensive then premium versions. The will definitely hold a 50lb speaker. And man are these things tall! With the widest stance these will get your speaker 8-9' in the air which is crazy. Would not go over 30-40lbs speakers though. I plan to sew separate canvas bags to store them to help less the touch ups with a black Sharpee. 3I like it. I have a set of On Stage aluminum stands that I use most of the time, but I bought these Pyle speaker stands for when I occasionally need the 8 foot height due to the type of music, proximity/number of people, and the size of the room/area. Extended to 8 feet, these stands are very tall. I currently use them with 41 lb QSC K12's. The legs extend wide enough to make me feel like the tripod won't fall over even if bumped but when the center pole is fully extended the 41 lb speaker at the top does sway a bit when bumped. The leg yoke is made of confidence-inspiring metal, the clamping mechanism is plastic - however there is a pin that should be used to secure the height adjustment. The included bag is not padded, is not divided, and is not the best quality. but is definitely more helpful than not having one.I chose the Pyle's primarily because of features and price and am satisfied with the purchase.Hint: For a 1 person job, unless you are over 6 1/2 feet tall, you'd better bring something to stand on to get the speaker on and off the top (I use my sub-woofer), otherwise it will take 2 people to safely extend or lower the speaker pole with the speaker on it. 4so far ok, but that bag! :-( at this time I will give a 4...only because I haven't used them yet. when they got here the box was damaged but it appears the stands are fine. but what surprised me was the bag....cheap...cheap...cheap.small holes and rips all over. the bag is like a super thin herculite but none of the strength. I may just carefully take the bag apart at the seams and use them as templates to sew my own bag together. I am sure the original handles and zipper will be fine since I am doing the sewing (I was a parachute rigger for the Air Force, sew [pun intended] I am a professional when it comes to sewing).I will perhaps update this review later after I finally get a chance to use these.Update: pulled one out and set up and found the black anodizing to be scratched off in one area. I will touch it up but still not cool.update: the bag is falling apart already. broken stitching and zipper. I better make a new one. 3Better than I expected for the price I bought this set just beginning my mobile entertainment business. I recommend them for beginners who do not have a lot of cash to invest. It is a good way to start. For my smaller shows I would put my JBL 515XTs on them with an aluminum pole running between them. Then I hung a few lights and a couple foggers on the pole. They made a great small show setup. However, one of mine failed at just under three years of use. Same problem as related by other purchasers. The screw that tightens a piece of plastic against the pole to hold the feet in place will no longer tighten. I had this happen to me while setting up for a wedding! Not good!!! I was able to use gaffer tape to limp it through. I did use them for 24 shows, so for the price I am satisfied. But I did not buy more. I replaced these with some much more expensive Gator Frameworks GFW-ID-SPKRSET ID Series Speaker Stand Set of 2. I used them for the two weddings I did this past weekend, and they are phenomenal! (will review them soon). But I kept the Pyles and actually used them to hold the speakers at the outdoor portion of one of the weddings, again using the gaffer tape trick. The bag failed almost immediately, but luckily Mom is good with a sewing machine/serger! 4Maybe A Good Buy ... However Packaging Is Extremely Poor Bought two sets. Both arrived together and at the expected delivery date. I had bought two sets of the Pyle Pro PMDK102 months previously which also included a pair of 25ft 1/4" cabling from an Amazon dealer which arrived without problems. Initially, I noticed only a slight difference in the two models which centered around the way the adjusting clamp allowed for the extension of the center speaker poles. Personally, I think its easier to setup the Pyle Pro PSTK103. Later comparison showed that the PSTK103 is also substantially taller in both the length of the tripod legs and the retracted center speaker pole. However, the way it was packaged severely diminished my opinion on how much the manufacturer really cared about its own products. The paint finish was chipped on several areas of the legs. There were dimples and nicks in several areas of the leg tubing. Why I blame the manufacturer's packaging more so than the way it was handled during shipping is simple ... the tripod legs have multiple connections which protrude from the joints and aside from the use of thin plastic bags to separate the two units laying upside down and side-by-side within the small confines of its included unpadded travel bag within its shipping carton, no other fore-thought of protection to prevent each tripod unit from physically rubbing or banging against one another during transport was afforded. Really, how hard would it have been to just separate the two units within the travel bag with some corrugated cardboard or a strip of expanded foam?!!!On the plus side ... after testing each of the tripod stands ... all seemed to function perfectly well. The units were light yet seemed solid and stable once set up. The price seemed right thought and if the manner of packaging were improved ... I would definitely say that thus far it seems like a great buy. Only time and after some use hereafter will I be able to determine if the unit holds up and is truly a bargain. 3Pyle tri pod lighting stands I own a sound and lighting company, and am always looking for equipment that will save me money, and also work well for me. I purchased my first pair of these Pyle stands 5 years ago on Amazon, and I am STILL using them, though I discovered some errors in the manufacturing, and fixed these small issues myself. I like these Pyle tri pod stands, because they are very light weight, and easy to set up. They have an 8-ft height, which is fine for the majority of stage lighting I set up in clubs, and at concerts. After all, most people are 6-ft and under in height, so 8-ft is plenty high enough for my lighting. Also, unlike my other 9-ft and 12-ft lighting tri pods that have 2-separate knobs and inner poles for lower and higher heights, these Pyle tri pods are like 6-ft tri pod speakers stands, and only have one knob and inner pole to reach the 8-ft height, and are very quick and easy to set up. Just like speaker tri pods, I open one tri pod, LIGHTLY tighten the knob for the legs, open the other tri pod legs and "match" the distance between 2 of the legs, and then you just count the holes for the height. Your speaker or lighting tri pods should be symmetrical in height from the back of the room, and your set up will look good. Here are the "fixes" I made below.1) First of all, they do come with a carry bag, though the bag is thin and cheap, and I eventually ended up using black gaffers tape to cover the holes.2) You will notice in the center of my first photo (where the 3 legs come together) that I have used a small piece of fiberglass matt, and resin, to hold in the "nut" for the knob that secures the 3 legs, that easily falls out when you adjust the stands or unscrew the knob. This was a real pain for me, until I figured out how to fix this.3) In this photo, you have to remove the inner pole that holds your lighting, and then the rubber piece that pushes against the pole when tightening the knob for the pole height, and then take the "nut" out that the tightening know connects with. This "nut" ALSO easily falls out.4) this is with the rubber piece removed, exposing the tightening "nut." I took the nut out, and used a little clear Gorilla glue on the 4 corners of the nut, and placed it back in with needle nose pliers. Then, before the glue sets, I screwed the knob in snugly to align the nut with the knob threads, and allowed it to dry for about 20 minutes. Then unscrew the knob, re-insert the rubber piece, and then the knob, and then the inner pole for that holds your lighting. If you do all this little stuff, these stands will probably last a long time, like they have for me!5) When you finally get tired of putting tape on the holes of your carry bag, search for this "Vispronet Flag Bag - 62in. x 11.8in" carry bag on Amazon, which is made for flags. It fits these Pyle tri pod stands perfectly (I also have 2 subwoofer poles in the bag for my QSC subs), is a nice heavy material and zipper, and is about $27.00 4Excellent product, flimsy case I'm very satisfied with these stands. They are strong and solid, yet lightweight, and are very easy to adjust for height as well as for packing. I like the included safety pin that protects the speaker from a catastrophic drop in the event of a sudden collapse due to the adjustment knob not being sufficiently tightened. The included case is very handy, maybe even essential, and has enough room to add a couple of mic stands and a music stand. While it's nice that the carrying case is included, it is a bit flimsy and I don't see it lasting as long as the stands through the beating it's going to get through a few gigs.I would have give five stars for the stands themselves, but decided on four because of the flimsiness of the case. 4Nice stands, fair packaging Stands are solid and made well and bag is sized right to fit the stands. I only gave it a 4 because the box was smashed when it arrived. The speaker stands were in bubble bags that were not doing a lot of protecting because the stands had some minor scratches on them and the carry bag was worn through where the knobs were. Tried to contact Pyle directly to get a bag replacement and I kept getting connected to a voicemail box that was full. Seems like way too much hassle to get a minor claim resolved. Glad I didn't have a major problem with their electronics. 4Not pro quality These are junk, don t expect these to work for professional gigs. They don t tighten well and I do not feel safe putting my speakers up with them. When I did put speakers up (12 powered) the tripod actually sagged as if it was going to slip out. Small plastic adapter inside for tighting poll fell off immediately. Musicans gear has a way better stand for twice the price. 1STAY AWAY FROM THESE STANDS and PYLE After a few light uses, the knob which tightens the tripod legs stripped, rendering the stand useless and dangerous. The stand will no longer support any weight, as the legs want to close. At first, their responses were quick, but then I had to send an email a day to warrant a response. Even though PYLE has a 1 year warranty, they will only do the repairs if I ship them the stand (at my cost) and provide them with a $20 prepaid return label (again at my cost). Do not buy this stand. Do not buy from PYLE, a company that "sort-of" has a warranty.I ATTACHED OUR CONVERSATION BELOW... PLEASE START AT THE BOTTOM.That's a shame. PYLE service is awful. Another funny thing is the fact that their site only allows positive reviews. I ran a test of 5 stars which went right through, but the real review (which I attached our conversation) did not. Well, at least that is not the case for 3rd party sites.-Darren4/8/2015 12:00:59 PMThat's all we can do4/8/2015 9:21:27 AMPYLEService TeamAgentThis is not an acceptable warranty model for your company. I bought the stands on Amazon sale for approximately $70.00. For one stand, for me to ship them too you (let's assume $15) and then pay for you to ship them back ($15), it is totally not worth it. We need to do better.- Darren4/7/2015 6:57:58 PMPYLEService TeamAgentYour item has a full 1 year manufacturer's warranty. Please send it in to: Pyle Service Center 1600 63rd St. Brooklyn, NY 11204 Along with a letter explaining the issue in full detail to help our technician, including your return shipping information, and the receipt of purchase or customer invoice to show that the item is still under warranty. If the item is still under warranty, you will also need to include a prepaid shipping label or a $15 money order to cover the return shipping. If your purchase date is less than 30 days, we suggest you attempt exchange with your original vendor or retailer whenever possible, it may avoid you from any additional shipping fee's depending on your vendors return policy. If you have not been successful communicating with your vendor. We will honor our manufacturer's warranty service and repair. If received within 30 days from purchase we can waive the return shipping fees from our facility back to you.4/7/2015 2:04:03 PMPYLEService TeamAgentI ordered these from Amazon in December. The return window has closed. Since the stand is well within the manufacturers warranty, it should be replaced. Please let me know how to get the stand replaced.- Darren4/7/2015 11:29:22 AMPYLEService TeamAgentIm sorry we do not have this part.
