New life for my old sawsI bought a Porter Cable set of saws several years back and they have been good saws. I use the heck out of the cordless Sawzall as a pruner and it still runs as good as new. Same for the drill and circular saw. But my batteries were worn out after 4 years of heavy use.I bought two of these batteries and they are perfect. Far as I can tell they are genuine and not crappy knock-offs. It's been several months now and they are charging and working as they should. 5No GoodWasted my money on this battery twice. It said new when I purchased but they don't last at all. When I first purchased the Porter Cable tools the batteries lasted a long time. I mean I could use the saw, sawzall, or drill all day. The replacement batteries don't even last 2 hours on and off building a deck. Don't waste your money on these. 1OLD, USELESS PRODUCT - BUYER BEWARE.!!!BUYER BEWARE - Do yourself a favor. - Unpack and charge this battery immediately upon receipt. There is a limited return period for faulty products. I tried to charge two of the three batteries which I purchased seven days after the close of the return period. They will not charge and looking further I find that they were manufactured in 2012. I bought old, bad batteries and got stuck.!! It may be from Amazon but the buyer still needs to beware. 1Batteries are Working--Ensure You Check Your ChargerUpon initial purchase, I thought my batteries were defective and was going to return them to the manufacturer. I had placed the batteries in my charger and it showed that they were charging but they were still dead when I pulled them off and attempted to use them. As a last resort, I called the local Lowes and asked if they sold the batteries locally so that I could check to see if my charger was working. The manager stated they no longer sell the 18 volt batteries but they did have another charger available. I went over to the store and placed the batteries on the charger and they began taking a charge so I found that I also had a bad charger. So, the lesson learned is, check to see if your charger is working if you think the batteries are bad. The local sales person related that the charging units go out on a regular basis. My batteries are now holding a charge with the new charger. I will give them four stars for now but I have not used them that long after I found the faulty charger. 4Was happy with the price at $34Was happy with the price at $34.99. It came in no time at all even with the economy shipping. I needed a new one to replace a bad battery from 2012.The date on the battery was 2014 so I was glad it was newer and not a leftover. The batteries themselves take a while to charge and they discharge quickly, especially when using a circular saw. I own the porter cable 20v lithium ion set. I would recommen buying that set over the 18v but if you are like me and have a little bit of everything, they are a good replacement battery at a good price. Lowes sellers these for $69 each. Can't beat the price. Also my first set only lasted two years. They still charge but but if they sit for more than a week they are compleatly dead. 4These are genuine OEM packs, dated fresh, work perfect, exceed original. My original set of batteries lasted six years until they would no longer hold a charge. I decided to spend a bit more and get these with the risk that they would be old or knock offs, and they are neither. They were built only eight months ago and completely identical side-by-side to the original set that was store-bought with toolkit. They took a charge and reall the most amending application, a circular saw, to get the job done this past weekend. I also ran hey spotlight for over four hours on a single charge with the other one. I bought a pair. I would highly recommend these if you love your porter cable tool set and want to restore it to exact original with no compromise for a little bit more money! Thanks!!! 5Direct replacement, same model, arrives highly chargedI've had the porter cable drill since sometime in 2009 and it seems both batteries are finally crapping out on me. I'm glad I found this battery because it's a really great value and it looks exactly like the original batteries that came with the drill (they are in fact the same battery model, so no surprise they look the same).I was surprised that the battery came almost fully charged, but I did go ahead and top it off anyways. So far I've used it and charged it several times with no issues. What more can you ask of a battery? Now I will admit, I've seen some good holiday sales that had a new drill with two new batteries for only $90, which is tempting since the battery costs almost half that... something to think about. 5Decent BatteryThe ordered the first battery and it worked good for four days while I was building a deck and then I placed it on the charger and the new battery wouldn't take a charge. I called Amazoon and they replaced the unit and the current one is working fine. Thanks Amazon for resolving the issue with the previous defective battery! 3DO NOT BUY.....QUESTIONABLE QUALITY AND QUESTIONABLE HERITAGE.So far so good. Lets see if this lasts as long as the original. When I originally received the battery I wrote the above review. Now a little over a year later, this battery is horrible. The original Battery I had when I purchased my Porter Cable Product lasted about 4 years. I am a homeowner and do not over use or abuse my tools. About 4-5 months ago [January 2016] I noticed the battery ran down quickly, I thought it was strange, but didn't investigate it further. Now, mid May 2016, the battery has a very short life. When I first got the battery I noticed it didn't weigh as heavy as the original, but the marking were all the same. My background is electronics, and I know a little about how these are made. These battery's are made by taking AA NI-Cads and wiring them together to produce 18VDC. If you wish to cheapen the cost you use less expensive AA Ni-CADS as your source. The price of this Battery was below any price I could find from authorized Porter-Cable suppliers, which now leads me to believe that this product is counterfeit. My next step now is to submit this battery to Porter-Cable engineering and tell them my story. Engineering departments love to examine issue such as this, and that is why you go around customer service. If it turns out that Amazon is promoting counterfeit products with Porter Cables name on it, I'm sure Amazon will be hearing from Porter Cables legal side. My advice right now to anyone thinking of buying a Porter Cable replacement battery, or a charger, to avoid doing it. Something is technically wrong. 1Made my cordless tools work like newImmediately revive your old Porter Cable cordless tool set without need to replace. These are genuine OEM batteries, made recently. Other reviews saying they got old batteries worried me but knowing Amazon would back me if not satisfied, I jumped on this. For 70 bux I replaced two failing batteries from 2011. They randomly charge to a lower max capacity and overheat quickly so they're not good for more than a light use for short period of time. If you need to do bigger jobs and rotate out batteries or multiple tools at a time working hard, this will save you from having to spend 500 bux to replace all of your cordless tools. If you already have them, just give them life again... No need to spend the money to replace, yet at least. 5
