    Did not function correctly after a few hours and Plantronics replacement policy is awful.....Loved these for the first two hours. After I paired them with two devices they stopped working correctly. Any type of audio would play for only a second and then stop. I tried everything to get them to work including going back to pairing them with only one device and they never worked correctly again. I called customer support and they worked through a few things and then determined that the sensors on the headphones which mute a call or pause the music when you take them off was interfering with the ability to play audio. Their suggestion was to turn off the sensors. The customer care rep didn't see anything wrong with this option. They were brand new and their fix was to turn off one of the functions in order to get them to work. I told him why I didn't think that was acceptable and he said "I guess you could look at it that way." He then said if I wasn't satisfied I'd have to return them. Here is the kicker. If I was within the Amazon 15 day return period (thankfully I was) I could return to Amazon and get a new pair. If I was outside the 15 day Amazon window I could return them to Plantronics and they would replace with a REFURBISHED pair. So they won't replace your headphones with a new pair if they are older than 15 days. This solidified my decision to return them to Amazon and get a different brand of headphones entirely. Also, the customer care dude didn't apologize ONCE for all the trouble. It was as if I was being unreasonable by expecting all functions to work. I don't expect much from customer service operations these days, but this was really beyond par. 1Perfect ReplacementThis pad came in the box as shown. The old worn pad was removed. All debris was vacuumed prior to attaching the new pad. Using the same screws the pad was replaced with no issues. I did not have any tear out as others indicated with the screws. I ensure the screws were tight after installing.The material of the old and new pads were compared (acknowledging the old pad was severely worn) and appears visually to be identical in material and thickness of both pad and backing plate. Both backing plates were of a clear plastic type material.I have since used this sander several times with no issues of the plastic backing breaking or sand paper not adhering.Recommend without hesitation. 5I was very pleased to be able to find a replacement pad for my Porter Cable orbital sander.This Is Why We Buy Good Tools! I was very pleased to be able to find a replacement pad for my Porter Cable orbital sander. It's a great tool that I've had for more than 15 years, but recently the pad deteriorated and fell off. I checked the model number of the sander on Amazon and BOOM - there's a new pad. Definitely cheaper than buying a new sander. Try finding replacement parts for some of those cheaper "big box" store tools. Not going to find the parts, let alone the brand, in 5 years!Tool rant over. It was very easy to remove the old pan and install the new one. Took all of 3 minutes. 5Original Porter Cable 13904 for random orbital sander at good priceThe pad for my Porter Cable model 333 type 4 random orbital sander came in OEM box as pictured. Added the cleaned off pad baseplate (lots of shredded black foam bits to show original part number.Can't recall last time I used it but had to be more than 10 years ago. Was worried I could find a replacement. But here it is.Original three mounting screws tightened up to full depth. Had none of the problems cited with other more expensive replacement pads. The pad might be a bit stiffer than the original, but honestly after 10 years I really don't remember.Dismantling the dust collector shroud showed heavy buildup of dry very fine wood dust in the rotor blades. I used the tiny brush. and Dust Off to clear the vents. Amazon carries it as Munchkin Brushes, set of 4 in different sizes for less than $5. Q-tips were a bit too thick to clear the vents. Memo...clean more frequently.Inspection revealed the silicone (?) drive belt, while still functional should probably have a spare on hand.Now back to work on long delayed projects. An aftermarket name,maybe,but not the name brand. If the screws get damaged in trying to cut or grind them down, it can strip out the threads on the sander itself .Shame on them! That being said,once I shortened the screws and the pad was secure,it was a major improvement in keeping the sanding disks held securely on the pad with the new velcro backing.I never really noticed that the velcro had worn until the sanding discs would fly off.The new velcro made a big difference. 3Nice ReplacementI'm on my 3rd pad - my original pad with metal backing lasted for 10 years. When that fell apart, I ran out to Home Depot and got another one. That lasted a few years under heavy use. The one I just got from Amazon is sort of stiff with a plastic backing. In a way that is good, because I like to press hard. After giving it a dry run and then trying it with some sand paper, it spins true and flat. That's all I needed... 5Perfect fit for my Porter Cable palm sanderI brought my old Porter Cable palm sander out the other day for a project that my wife, daughter and I were working on together. Unfortunately, I discovered that the inside foamy layer in the pad on my palm sander had basically rotted away so that it crumbled in my fingers and tore away from the sander. Unusable in that state, I chose to order the OEM replacement here on Amazon because of the reviews that I saw on non-OEM products complaining that sometimes the backing support wasn't sturdy enough on those parts. Anyway, it took a couple of days, but the replacement part arrived and fit perfectly. Sander restored! 5Keep your old (pre-2005) Porter-Cable sander and buy new sanding pads, you'll be happier.You can search online for reasons to keep your old P-C sander; I won't duplicate the reasons here.There are (at least) three pad types that are all compatible with the Porter-Cable 5-inch 5-hole 333 or 333VS sanders: Nos. 13904, 13905, and 13909. They are all 5-inch diameter, all have the same three mounting holes in the same spacing & orientation, and they all have five dust holes. The differences are as follows: The 13904 and 13909 are both "standard" firmness and are for sanding mostly flat surfaces. The 13905 is slightly thicker and slightly spongier, and is for sanding things that have slight contours (i.e. are not perfectly flat), because the thicker padding conforms better to contours. The 13905 is also better for rounding off corners/edges, as it helps you make the corners/edges rounded as opposed to beveled/chamfered. The 13909 has an airflow trench in its surface that allows you to use the more popular 8-hole 5-inch sanding discs, because the dust (presumably) can travel from the sanding disc's holes through the trench to the five dust collection holes in the sander pad. If you're buying this online, you're probably not averse to buying sanding discs online, so the fact that hardware stores often don't carry a large selection of 5-hole 5-inch discs is not an issue: You can just buy them online, and they're about the same price as 8-hole discs anyway. So from that standpoint, you're probably better off NOT buying the 13909, since the trench in the pad means there's a ring of the sandpaper that doesn't really do anything, and when you rip the used disc off your sander, you'll notice that every time you have a used disc with a quarter-inch-wide, 2.5-inch diameter ring of perfectly good, unused sanding area, which in my opinion is a waste. Just go with either the 13904 or 13905 and buy 5-hole discs and you'll be better off. Actually I have one each of the 13904 and 13905, and I can switch between them depending on what I'm sanding, plus having two means I have a backup for the inevitable moment when I run a pad into some sharp corner & destroy the pad's foam edge. I've seen a post suggesting that the old version came with a metal backing plate and the newer ones come with a cheap plastic backing plate, and though I haven't seen that person's original sanding pad, I suspect even his original one, like mine, had a black fiberglass plate (which I agree looks like metal), and the newer ones have clear fiberglass plates, which look like plastic. 4Perfect replacement for a PC Model 333 sander padThe pad on my sander finally died - it started shedding bits of rubber and then the pad separated from its base and off while it was in use. Fortunately it flew away from me. The new one is an exact match for a PC Model 333. The pad attaches with the same three screws that held the original in place. It took less than 2 minutes to remove the pad s base and screw in the new one. 5Excellent part to repair/restore a fine sander, but note the COMMENTS and CAUTIONS posted by me and others.Perfect replacement part EXCEPT the purchaser NEEDS to read the other customer reviews and pay attention to the cautions that in some cases the original screws may be just a tad long for the new pad. There are several possible solutions offered but you need to pick one of them. Failure to do so could allow the screw to "bottom out" before it tightens the pad down tightly. Somewhat difficult to spot, but a pad that is not fully secure could cause serious vibration, and you really don't want any significant vibration in something that runs at 12,000 orbits per minute under no-load conditions. I recommend starting and stopping the device with the sandpaper touching the surface of the work to be sanded.My original pad lasted quite a while -- years, in limited use. However when it finally "went up" (as we say in Maryland) it did so in a hurry. Chunks of the rubber pad began flying off at high speed with the effect that the pieces really stung when they hit the body. Based on this I would NEVER operate this tool with out wearing a HIGH QUALITY full-face mask. Recognize that you will get no warning that the pad is about to disintegrate other than the first chunk flying off, and when that happens power down immediately and set the tool aside until it can be repaired. Continuing to operate it in this condition will be like firing a machine gun with rubber bullets inside a tiled bathroom. Once it begins to disintegrate it will continue to do so. At least that was my experience.Once it is repaired and is essentially vibration free, control the device by selecting sandpaper disks of the correct grit(s) and let the tool do the work.All that said, I love this sander. 4
