Description

  • USB 2.0 4-Port High Speed Hub. Includes a robust 12.5W 5V 2.5A power adapter. (US AC Wall Outlet Plug, 100-240V 50/60Hz)
  • Hub enables connecting 4 additional USB devices. Forwards and backwards compatible with all USB 3.0, 2.0, or 1.1 host controllers and devices on Windows, Mac, and Linux/Unix computers at USB 2.0 speeds up to 480 Mbps. Transfer rates are device and USB host controller dependent. Fully plug and play, devices can be hot-swapped, supports USB over-current protection. Requires no driver installation (although individual devices may require drivers).
  • Apple notes: Note that some devices such as the Apple SuperDrive look for Apple-specific signaling and will not work when connected through any USB hub.
  • Hub supports the USB Battery Charging 1.1 Standard (BC 1.1) for unique charge and data sync functionality that most hubs do not have. Charge and sync only works with BC 1.1 compatible devices such as the Apple iPhone 5s, 5c, 5, iPad Retina, Air, Mini, (Apple 30 pin dock connector iPads will not charge), plus various Android and Windows devices are also supported. Because only some devices support BC 1.1, check compatibility list below before purchase.

Customer Reviews

perfect for my Pi 3 and it also powers my ... I was looking specifically for a powered USB hub for my Raspberry Pi 3. I wanted to add some devices that would need an additional power source.I was surprised at the size of the hub, perfect for my Pi 3 and it also powers my Pi 3 which is an added bonus. Attached is a picture of the hub used as a Pi 3 power source. It is a USB 2 hub but transfer speeds are impressive. I moved three very large video files from a USB thumb drive to my desktop quickly. Please see attached pictures. One has a quarter for size reference. It is perfect for my needs and exceeded my expectations.I would not hesitate to order again.- Kenn 5Only USB Hub on the Planet that works with an iPad mini I purchase a lot of merchandise from Amazon but much of it is taken for granted and I often don't take the time to post a review. This product is one of the exceptions. I'm very computer-savvy and I've searched everywhere for a powered USB hub that will support both my iPhone 5 and iPad mini, allowing me to both "charge" and "sync" both devices simultaneously when connected to my computer. I've purchased several of the best USB hubs (Belkin, etc.) and they simply don't have enough power to charge the iPad mini. Most will do fine with the iPhone 5, and they all synched the two devices, but when plugged into the USB hubs I tried, my iPad mini would not charge.I stumbled across this USB hub in another online review, researched it on the manufacturer's website, asked a couple of email pre-sale questions and then purchased it here on Amazon, where the company says is the only place they sell it. I can not say enough good about this USB hub. It's very small, and even stylish (if that matters to anyone), and comes nicely packaged with all the necessary cables. An important thing to note is the company's claim that it charges both an iPhone and iPad mini "faster" than a directly connected charger is true. I tested this personally and found a marked difference in the amount of time it took to charge from the same percentage of being discharged.Additionally, I noticed the backup/sync times for the iPhone and iPad mini were also significantly improved...to the point a typlcal backup was taking only a few seconds as opposed to a few minutes. Truly, this is one of the best purchases I've made to improve a technical problem. Even if you don't have an iPad mini, this is the best USB hub I've ever used. 5Not for pi2 Got the 4port model. It puts out less than 5v, triggering an undervoltage warning as well as causing system instability on my raspberry pi model 2 NAS setup. I'm keeping it to power the pair of external hard drives that the pi can't run on its own but the whole point of buying this was to run my setup from a single power plug and it failed miserably. They even show it being used on the pi model 2 in the photos, but it sure as hell doesn't work. I can't comment on the other pi models as I only own the model 2.Edit: Plugable contacted me after the initial 2star review and sent me a replacement unit that they had lab tested to work 100%. It still undervolted the pi2 with the hard drives attached. 2One of the few Hubs that can charge devices standalone, and also connect devices without the power adapter I was looking for a hub that had a few features, but I honestly did not have my hopes up after endless searching for the perfect one.Well....aside from having USB 3 capability, this was the best one that met all of my needs. This hub can charge devices through it ports when the AC adapter in powering the hub (not connected to a computer). Also, for days when I do not feel like bringing the power cord, this hub can also work with some lower powered devices when connected to a computer (flash drives, mouse, etc). The only thing it doesn't have is USB 3 which is not a big deal to me. To be honest, the USB 3 hubs on the market scare me. I heard a lot of drives being toasted because of the power imbalances when USB 3 hubs are involved.I could not seem to find a USB 3 hub that didn't have at least a few horror stories attached to it. As far as hubs go, USB 2 seemed a more stable way to go. And considering this has additional power is even better for more demanding drives. This Hub is great considering I have a MacBook Pro Retina which only has 2 USB ports and normally don't feel like lugging around as much. The hub is very small and the fact I don't always HAVE to carry around the power adapter is great.I highly recommend this hub!!! 5Works great with the Raspberry Pi I bought this to connect an USB audio peripheral to a Raspberry Pi (RPi) to capture audio. I initially was using the USB hub built into my monitor, but it was not able to run the USB audio correctly. This hub works where the monitor hub failed. I'm also able to power the RPi from the hub. The form factor of the hub is very small and comes with a nice switching power supply. I will definitely buy more of these in the future if I have the need. The hub worked fine under the Raspian (Linux) operating system on the RPi. 5Excellent for use with Raspberry Pi model B I purchased this for use with my Raspberry Pi model B. I wanted both the ability to have more powered USB slots and be able to power the device from the same hub. I'm very happy to report that I got exactly what I wanted from this device so far. This simplifies the cables I already have run for my Raspberry Pi that I'm using at my home theater PC installed with RaspBMC.PROS:- Provides consistent power while not connected to any other computer device. This was exactly what I needed for my RaspPi setup.- Very small form-factor makes it easier to place out of direct sight, but it's large enough that it doesn't feel flimsy or cheap.- Blue LED light is present without having to be overstated. It's not nearly as bright as some other products I've even gotten from the same company, and I'm glad for that. I don't always want things glowing brightly for some applications, and it's also nice to be able to see it has power quickly. Pro-tip, if the light bothers you a single small strip of electrical tape removes it.- no dips in power that sometimes accompany hubs. I don't plug and unplug a lot while I have mine running because the OS I use doesn't constantly watch for new USB devices, but when I have done so with cheaper hubs, power drop on the rest of the slots could be enough to cause problems for a few seconds. I've noticed that does not appear to be the problem here.CONS- still has a blue LED, so if you really hate those and don't want to put a piece of tape over it, I guess that could be a problem.- Still ends with a DC box at the end of the power cable. It's oriented to be more friendly for power strips, but I have said this about all electronics for a very long time, they should end with a normal plug and have the needed DC converter a few inches up the line. I know you can buy small cables specifically for this, I just wish that weren't needed at all. That is just a general complaint about all electronics that do this; at least this one is oriented sideways so it won't cover a bunch of other power ports.I was very happy with this product. If you want a powered USB hub for your Raspberry Pi and you also don't want to have a separate power plug for the same device AND your hub, this is a good choice. 5This small device will power anything you throw at it! I wanted to make a network drive with my Raspberry Pi, however, the Pi doesn't have the ability to power itself and the solid state drive effectively. If I add a mouse, keyboard and display to that, it's even worse. I purchased this powered USB hub as a solution. This thing as very hefty power capabilities in a surprisingly small package and has no trouble powering my Pi and anything plugged into it! I do say small for a reason. As you can see in the picture, this thing is quite a bit smaller than the Raspberry Pi itself, though the power brick is a little larger to accommodate the power this thing puts out. I've actually considered getting a second one at some point to charge my stuff and give me more USB ports for my desktop as this thing is super nice! 5Got it because I liked their USB 3 Just received this. Got it because I liked their USB 3.0 ethernet adapter so well. Turns out the guys that design Plugable stuff used to work for Microsoft on their USB stack for Windows -- i.e., Plugable USB products were designed by people that really know what they are doing.. Anyway, I chose the USB 2.0 hub instead of 3.0 because the USB 3.0 hubs (all of them from any manufacturer) emit lots of RF noise that interferes with wireless mice, headsets, bluetooth and Wifi. Got a 3.0 hub to start with and my mouse was laggy and my headset was full of static. Returned it and got this one. No noise. An it's very small and compact. I also like that it doesn't have the cable built into it -- packs up easier. It has four regular (type A) ports, two on each side, and one mini USB port on the end that you use to connect it to your PC (or whatever). So 5 ports total on the device It comes with a 3 foot USB A to USB mini cable, but I got a little 6 inch cable because that's more convenient for how I want to hook it up. I move around a lot and really like its compactness. I could do without the blue light on top, though, but its not too annoying. It has a power adapter you can use if you are using it for serious charging purposes, but I don't use the power adapter. I use it on a Mac with USB 3.0 ports, but it should work fine on Windows too. It powers my wireless mouse and wireless headset USB dongles as well as a flash drive and I also was charging another device. All without the power adapter. I really like it so far. And I really like that it was designed by people who seem to really know what they are doing. 5Perfect for powering Raspberry Pi! Got this to both power my Raspberry Pi (RPi), and to add USB ports. To power the RPi, you will need an additional USB cable, with a "USB Standard A" connector on the hub end, and an "USB Micro B" (don't confuse with 'mini-b') to plug into the RPi's power receptacle (I use the StarTech.com 6 Inch Micro USB Cable - A to Micro B (UUSBHAUB6 Inch) , but because of the Proto Armour aluminum case I am using, I had to "shave" the outer plastic of the cable on the Micro-B side to fit through the case's opening). This cable is strictly for powering the RPi, and I have another USB Type-A to USB Type-A for data transfer between the RPi and the Hub. Looks funny connecting the RPi in a loop with the Hub, but it works well.Of course, this Plugable 4-port Hub adds 4 "USB Standard A" USB ports, and it is where I plugged in my wireless network adapter (the Edimax EW-7811Un 150 Mbps Wireless 11n Nano Size USB Adapter with EZmax Setup Wizard ). I also used it to plug in an "emergency" USB keyboard when I found out that I didn't have an F10-key on my wireless keyboard/trackpad combo ( FAVI Entertainment Wireless Keyboard (Built-in TouchPad/Laser Pointer) - Black ) I needed for a couple of instances during my RPi's setup. With it's subdued blue power led stripe on top, it looks very cool, and the hub is perfect for my RPi's needs. The plastic retail packaging sucks, but not enough to demote a star. 5Little but powerful I've been searching and researching for several months (like 18) to find a hub that is reasonable in price and works for the purpose I need. I have 3 portable external hard drives and they each have files that I need access to, and USB ports are not plentiful on my laptop. Actually, with everything practically needing USB accessibility, one would think that computers would create more USB ports and the motherboard capable of handling said created more ports. My research brought me to this tiny, but powerful little hub. I'm simply amazed at how it's capable of handling all three of my drives and it's not affecting any performance on my laptop. Meaning, my laptop is not sluggish or freezing. In fact, with my externals all connected, they themselves are working faster and better. Two of my drives are 2.0 and one is a 3.0, and I was a bit concerned about the performance issue of my 3.0, but it's working like a charm. I'm not having any delay, or any slow to show files, or any issues moving files from one to the other. This hub can work without the power source, but it does perform better with the power adapter plugged into an outlet. I've not done a lot of moving and accessing with it not plugged into an outlet, but just accessing the drives is quicker with it plugged in.The hub itself is about 2 inches long and maybe 1 and 1/2 inches wide (I didn't officially measure, I'm just eyeball guessing), and both cords (the USB one to connect the the computer, and the one to connect to the outlet) have sufficient length. In fact, I think the cord that connects the hub to the computer could be a little shorter, but it is long enough to keep it out of my way if I were to need it to sit further from my PC.When I plugged the hub into my pc it automatically recognized and brought up all drives attached to it. There were no extra drivers needed. I didn't have to go in manually make the PC recognize the hub.I've been using the hub for only 4 days, but I'm so excited at it's performance that I just had to rave about it, since I've wanted a hub to do this at a price I can afford. I will update my review as I use it longer. I really hope it lasts a long time, and performs at this level for the life of the hub. 5
