Customer Reviews

Not Enough Dividers, Check Customer Images for Accurate Photos Overall, this is a decent "toolbox" for light duty tasks. The door that holds the containers in appears to be the weakest part. I wouldn't trust it long-term to hold the containers in, especially not in a moving auto/boat unless it was very well secured.Included are one 23650-97, and two 23630-76 adjustable Pro-Latch StowAway containers. The latches on both are much better than those on Plano's standard StowAway containers. While not flimsy, I wouldn't call any of the hinges heavy duty. These containers are not waterproof, and definitely are not airtight, but they should hold in all but the tiniest of items. The 23650-97 includes 15 dividers, which is enough to fit every slot. The dividers fit very snugly. It is a "normal depth" container, while the other 2 are significantly deeper. The hinges on this one seem a little beefier than the other 2 containers. Each 23630-76 includes 5 dividers which is enough to fill exactly half of the slots. To clarify, there are 20 spots for dividers between the 2 containers, but only 10 dividers total. The dividers for these two containers have a good fit, but they are not snug like the smaller container. With the lid open, they easily slide up. With the lid closed, they are secure.Plano will not send more dividers, so this is not the box for you if you have numerous tiny components. I only discovered this after I was told Plano would send more dividers free of charge and they sent me an order form. They proceeded to send me some dividers for a totally different product. After following up with their customer service, this is the response I received:"We are sorry to inform you that the unit you are inquiring about does not have extra dividers that we can supply you with. When the product drops out of the mold during manufacturing, it only drops the amount that it is supposed to come with, no extras."While the 23650-97 and 23630-76 boxes have the same external length and width, they otherwise hardly resemble each other. It is almost as if they were designed by different companies. This isn't necessarily a good or bad thing, but it just seemed... odd to me.If you search the model numbers of each container on Plano's site, there are PDFs available which show you the dimensions of each compartment. There are a couple of typos in the measurements, but they are otherwise helpful.Being unable to get the extra dividers Plano originally promised to send, this StowAway system didn't meet my needs. I ended up returning it and purchasing different individual containers. I like the idea of a "toolbox" that holds multiple containers and has a bulk storage area on top, but this model could use a few improvements before I'd consider it again. If you look closely at the official Amazon photos, you should notice that the door is different in each photo. The one I received matched the photo with the door open. My small container did not match the one in that photo, however. The photos on Plano's site don't depict the correct small container either. I uploaded my own images to show exactly what I received. 3Plano makes a great product, and offers great customer service as well! Plano did a fantastic job on this toolbox. I use it to hold my paracord crafting supplies and it is very well designed. The main toolbox at the top is roomy, and the whole thing is very sturdy with a convenient handle, and a nice latch. The three clear boxes on the inside pull out entirely, and allow you to customize how the dividers are set up, and you can choose whether to use them at all or how you use them. One of the boxes is a bit smaller than the other two. All three have shelves you can slide them into, and the front door latches, locking them in place.Mine actually arrived with a missing piece (a metal bar which is part of the top hinge) and Amazon couldn't replace just that piece, but I didn't notice the missing piece until after I had organized everything. Plano corrected this for me within a week or so by USPS. I was extremely impressed with not only their product, but their quick response to the missing piece.I could see this being very useful as a travel toolbox, to keep a few main tools in the top, and screws/nuts/bolts/nails/etc in the compartments, but personally I think it's amazing for craft supply storage. 5This tool box is GREAT for electronics projects including Raspberry Pi and Arduino This tool box is GREAT for electronics projects including Raspberry Pi and Arduino. It is extremely easy to organize items, include small objects like capacitors, sensors, resistors, etc. The top part is great for stowing away commonly used tools for soldering like my iron, wire cutters, pliers, etc.Don't hesitate to buy. It is a great quality product! 5Great box! Durable. Awesome. I keep all of my daughters medicine and medical supplies inside. This is perfect for us on the go. 5great for storing rpg paints for miniatures with a bit of work fantastic for storing rpg paints (with a bit of modification).I removed the smallest tray and bought another of the larger trays (sold separately) for the top compartment. I removed the box tops for each larger compartment and then using a large xacto knife removed the supports for the smallest tray so that i can fit two large compartments fulll of paint into the lower storage space (see attached photos) 5Poorly designed and cheap materials I bought this toolbox for my art supplies because it looked great and because of all the great reviews. However, I am extremely disappointed, so much so that I'm sending it back. Here's why. The three plastic trays come with several dividers. Now, I've bought containers like this in the past and I love them because of the flexibility they offer. But I must have spent at least 10 minutes trying to slide ONE divider in. I tried every which way possible and they simply do not fit! One way is too narrow. Another was is too wide. This is just horribly designed. One another note, the hinges and clasps are very cheap (all plastic), so plan on those breaking after a while. That said, I was more than willing to overlook the hinges because I needed the plastic containers. But the divider issue was a deal breaker. This product is made in the USA. What a shame! 1Perfectly fine for home/sedentary storage. Bought this to keep my hobby supplies and in progress projects organized in one place (in my case, giant robot model kits). As others have noted, the clasps and hinges are made of plastic, so I would not recommend this toolbox for traveling or frequent moving. It is, however, perfectly adequate for home or workshop use where it won't be banged around. My only particular gripes are the lack of fully open space in the top compartment and in the provided plastic drawers. The top compartment has a few short plastic "walls" around the perimeter that make it hard to fit something like a cutting mat along the full width of the top compartment. I wish the provided drawers didn't already have predefined walls in them, because I would have liked to more fully customize the compartments. It's not a big enough inconvenience to buy more open ones to replace them with, though.Edited to add: I forgot to mention the slide-in dividers that it comes with. It actually comes with 3 different sizes, but the super small and oblong ones don't seem to fit anywhere in the provided utility drawers. The only ones that fit seem to be the mid-sized ones. Some people have complained about not getting them to fit, though I don't understand why. You need to cut them out of the conjoined group of dividers, then shave off the remaining nubs. They will then slide cleanly into place wherever you decide to place them. So, it does require a little bit of work. 4So far so good, but *fingers crossed* I am using this to hold supplies and miniature wargaming models. The top is large enough to hold a Land Raider wrapped in an old t-shirt. Citadel paints fit about 8 per row for three rows. The smallest container I have half of it sectioned to hold bits. Though be aware the included partitions have predetermined slots that they fit into and can not be set up as desired. Also the clips and cover on the front feel a little flimsy and I am worried the clips might not last. Hopefully the cover is the way that it is in case I step on it and it has a chance to flex under my weight without breaking ( I have not done that yet, but I am sure it is a matter of time...) 4Good Build Quality at Reasonable Price I purchased two sizes of Plano Toolbox, The 1363 shown here and the 1354 size. The 1363 model I purchased for electronic component level service work on laptops and cell phones. The 1354 model I purchased for networking tool and parts storage. There is a considerable difference in size between the two boxes where the 1363 model is considerably larger than the 1354. That fact is not very obvious from the pictures alone and probably hard to estimate from dimensional size without a side by side comparison in person.Quite frankly, if you purchase both sizes at the same time, you will find a use for the "other" box because the price is right. Both boxes have good build quality with extra thought put into the design and function of each size.I would not go so far to say that these are designed for rugged abusive treatment, but they will withstand moderate knocking about without losing critical parts such as locking clasps or hinges..I happen to have a label maker to affix labels to the compartments, but hand printed peel and stick labels work just as well for organization.Although both boxes, the 1363 and 1354 are quite compact, the storage is more than adequate for most small jobs or hobbyist. Both sizes of Plano box are marketed as "Toolbox" and that is where I find exception.Hand tools vary immensely in size. Quantity of same may quickly overextend the capacities of either Plano box 1363 or 1354.These Plano boxes are very well suited for specialized projects or hobbies as opposed to a general category of "toolbox."Suffice it to say these boxes are not tool chests, nor intended for construction sites, but are more than adequate for light tasking.I saw one of these boxes utilized as an emergency sewing kit at a local school for performing arts. Possibilities are endless. 5Excellent For Crafting Supplies This Sto N Go toolbox is advertised for tools and accessories, I personally purchased it for my six year old daughters crafting supplies. We have lots of crafting supplies from pipe cleaners, pom poms, felt, googly eyes, and many more little pieces. This case has three removable, sturdy, plastic boxes. Each one has dividers that can be moved to make compartments small or large, whatever your needs may be. I also received plenty extra dividers. The lid on top lifts up for a large compartment. I see in other reviews that say its flimsy and cheap, I do not see this at all. I feel it is made nice and sturdy there is also a latching gate piece that's holds the boxes in place. The latches are sturdy and have had no problems at all. This is a great case for all of our crafting needs. 5
