Customer Reviews

A good pair of shears at this price A good pair of shears at this price. I have been a volunteer and EMT since 1976 (never been my job). In my view, bandage shears need to be small, sturdy, cut well, have a protective "tab" on the end to assist getting under clothing and to avoid stabbing the patient, and sell for well under $10 (because they get lost). These fit that description. 4Good cut & safer too ! We occasionally have to wrap a leg on a dog so they can heal from a scrape or a sore after running in the woods. It's bad enough them wriggling around when we change a bandage, and we've been paranoid not to hurt them as we cut off the old wrap, yikes! These help a lot by being sharp where it matters, but with a protective flange to get you underneath the material to make the cut. They do well getting through fabric tape and the stretch wrapping tape, and are worth the money to keep in the kit when needed. 4If you need scissors as a healthcare worker get these! These scissors are a life saver for my job as a nurse! They work on opening stubborn pill packets, dressings, tape, and more! I am so glad to have ordered these. They clean well with alcohol swabs and most likely other cleaners as well. I've been using them for over a month so far and they still work good as new and look great. I highly recommend! 5Great Shears for EMS Volunteer EMT here, I do about 100-150 calls per year, and I could not be happier with these shears. They're way WAY better than the ones we stock on our trucks. They've cut through everything I've used them on without any hesitation, and they're still as sharp as the day I got them. I actually paid $9, the price has since come down. But now that I have these, I would easily pay $20-30 for a replacement; $6 is a steal! My only negative is that people ask me why I'm carrying around office scissors on my belt (the handles look like office scissors handles), but the functionality far outweighs the slight aesthetic issue. And the handles are actually way more comfortable than most shears, so oh well if they look a little silly. 5Great Shears for hospital use Great shears for hospital use. I use these every day for dressing changes on patients. The dulled tip prevents any accidents with cutting skin. It is sharp enough to cut through thick layers of gauze. These sheers have gone through blood, puss, and sweat and have been washed with water, alcohol, and bleach with no changes in color, rusting or any kind of damage occurring. From end to tip the shears are 7 inches but the actual cutting part of the blade is about 2.5 inches. The handle is made of a durable plastic and any size hand should have no problem using these. My only con for these sheers is that even after almost a year of using them they still do not open smoothly like regular scissors. It could be to prevent accidental opening of them so it may be better that they don't. 5Too hard to open and close I bought these based on good reviews. I don't agree and this is a product I would not have bought if I had seen on a store shelf. In the picture it looks junky and it is. It is sharp with slightly serrated blades. But the shears are really hard to open and close which one has to do every time they are used! I have lubricated the joint but it made no difference. May be okay for strong male hands but not for strongish female hands. Too difficult to use. 1Great quality, comfortable to use! Would have given these 5 stars if they didn't have the yellow inside--would have liked to choose a color or, really to have almost any other color inside the finger slots but, although there were other colors available, these were the cheapest at the time I purchased them and considering I bought them when I was starting my first semester of nursing school, I needed cheap. I do love that the handles are a light enough color for me to write my name on them. My classmates and instructors were constantly borrowing them from me. Also had one or two trying to steal them from me, as were a couple of nurses on my unit since they're more comfortable to use than the one or two pairs you MIGHT find on the unit, if you're lucky. While I'm still having issues with people trying to steal them, all I have to do is re-write my name on the grip when it starts to fade and I'm good to go. It takes quite a bit of use and subsequent scrubbing w/ alcohol pads to scrub the name off of them, so I don't have to worry about nurses or physicians grabbing them, scrubbing the name off and writing their own on them like I would if I had to write it on the upper metal part.Overall, these were a great buy! They're good quality, not thin or flimsy and they're comfortable to use. They're also great in the home for cutting off the usually unnecessary bandages that little ones need when they get boo-boo's (those things have ten times the glue on them that they need, after all), and for cutting open the SUPER frustrating packaging you get when you order things online from places like Ebay or Etsy. One con for this though, is that if you're going to try to use these for both in home and at work use, the shape of these may make getting all of that glue off difficult, so I'd order a pair for in home and another for at work. :) 4the annoying Miralax packets that never tear open I'm a nurse, and I use these every day: to cut off bandages, through IV bags, the annoying Miralax packets that never tear open, hard to open blister packs, etc. The great part is that they aren't pointed, so I even jam them in my pockets either way up without having to worry that I will stab myself if I sit down. I wish they made a smaller version; it does take up some valuable scrub space but they are indispensable and my fellow nurses are always asking to borrow my scissors. 5One of the best that I have owned and used!!! There are certain things that are just part of the job and one of those things working in a hospital in bandage shears and these worked great. Not only are they nice and strong but they cut great even after having them for over a month and using them on a daily basis. The grip on these is nice and comfortable and they cut great the first time and keep on cutting that same way over and over. Its nice and easy to open and close. The duller tip on these is nice and big so that I don t have to worry about hurting a patient. One of my favorite things about these besides the way that they are still cutting nice and easy is the great color of the grey and yellow. I have used a lot of these shears and this is defiantly one of the better ones that I have used. I purchased this product at full price without any promise to review them. The opinions expressed in this review are mine and mine alone. Nobody or nothing has influenced my opinion. I in no way shape or form have a relationship with this dealer. 54.5 star review - Using this in the barn on my horses I purchased these to use on my horses when they injure themselves in ways that require their legs to be wrapped. Overall, I'm happy with them for this use. I know that the blunt ends are a safety feature of bandage scissors, but these can be a bit hard to finagle between the tight wrap and the leg. Once squeezed in there, it would help if they were slightly sharper. Despite these two issues, though, I still feel they are worthy of a 4.5-star review and I would purchase them again because 1) they seem to be well-made and sturdy enough to hold up to use in a barn/large animal environment, and 2) I'm pretty klutzy, and even though the blunt end can be hard to work with, it makes it pretty hard for me to mess up and injury my horse. When working with lower horses' lower legs, this is extremely important because there is so little skin/tissue between the scissors and the tendons/ligaments/vessels/etc. 5
