    As useless as gluten in L.A. Do you like wasting money? Do you like inventing new cuss words while trying to torque bolts cylinder head bolts and watch your torque angle guage spin freely? Then this is the torque guage for you. Total garbage. I should have known better than to try and save a couple bucks and trust reviews. One star is giving this too much credit. 1Seems good so far Tool is being used to torque nylon cams onto a custom made clamp on my milling machine. Clamping too hard causes the nylon to spread out so I need lock washers torqued just hard enough not to move but not too much to distort. This tool seems to do the job well.Couple of slight down points: The pointer wasn't exactly on zero and the black plastic ball on the end comes off if pulled. Minor issues but thought I should point them out. Will raise my review to 5 stars later if the tool holds up over time.Note: The zeroed pointer issue is addressed in the instructions and they recommend you simply bend the pointer bar slightly to zero the tool. 4Misleading Indications - Save your money and your car The only thing worse than a measuring instrument that doesn't work is one that provides misleading information. I read the reviews and waffled on purchasing thinking that if it didn't work I could adjust the spring or o-ring as another reviewer suggested. Bottom line: It simply doesn't provide reliable readings. The indicating plastic does not turn consistently with the wrench. I tried turning the wrench slowly and quickly but it made no difference; it didn't work. I tried a beefier o-ring with no improvement. About the only thing that may help is taping the plastic indicating ring to the shaft once it's in correct position. If I use the tool without some sort of modification, I will mis-torque the fasteners. Really bad if it is a critical fastener on your engine. Really frustrating. 1It's still possible to find good tools at reasonable prices The product was defective upon arrival. That's hardly surprising looking at the construction of the tool, which is very cheaply made. The arm would not stay in place since the rough surface of the arm had worn the hole in which it sits, and the guage was slipping giving an inaccurate reading of the angle. It's still possible to find good tools at reasonable prices, but his is not one of them. If you're going to use a tool like this for something important then buy a better one. 1Works very well. This works very well. I use it for my motorcycle. I had a Tekton 1/4" torque wrench that was kind of a disaster. This is worth the extra money and I'm very happy with it. I still use my Tekton 3/8" and 1/2" torque wrenches. They have no problems.TIPS:1. Torque wrenches tend to be most accurate when at the upper end of their range. Think about what you will use it for, and the wrench's range when shopping.2. On 1/4" torque wrenches, go real slow when tightening something. Prevent you from snapping a bolt. Just use three fingers to turn most of the time. No need to muscle it, and go s-l-o-w. 5Worked to tighten the cylinder head bolts for a 2000 VW Jetta 2.0 GL 5 Speed transmission. - I used the tool to tighten, to torque specs, the bolts that connect the cylinder head to the engine block. I was replacing the cylinder head and head gasket of a 2000 VW Jetta 2.0 GL 5 speed transmission.- Due to the difficulty of this repair and the fact that you have to get it right to even get the car running again, I decided to get the torque angle tool. Also. The cylinder head bolts are torque to yield (tty) and any wrong tightening would lead to stripping of the threads, bolts or worse. This tool (used together with a torque wrench) eliminates this possibility of error.- The tool comes with some sparse instructions as to how you use it.- I purchased a special tool, M10 that is specific for VW Jetta cylinder head bolts. This is the tool that you use to remove and install the cylinder head bolts.- Following the manufacturer's instructions on how to instal the cylinder head bolts (I used the Haynes Manual) I tightened the cylinder head bolts to 40 ft/lbs. this tightening needed a 90 degree further tightening. This is where the torque angle tool comes in. You set it to zero degrees and in conjunction with a torque wrench, torque the bolts to the specs recommended by the manufacturer. You then tighten the bolts upto the 90 degree mark.- I hope the pictures I have posted will help. Good luck with your repair! 5Needs to be modified before using!!! ALERT!!! I gave 2 stars because it is inoperative without modifying. I am a professional mechanic. The plastic top piece should be fixed to the female side of the 1/2" extension with no slipping, they do this with a spring and o-ring, it does not work, either because the oring is to thin or the spring is to weak or both. You will get a very inaccurate reading because of this and could cause serious damage to your engine. I will either put a stronger spring, or fatter oring. I dont mind doing this but I thought others should be aware. Hope this helps someone. RHS Mobile Auto Repair 1988-present.Torque Angle Gauge 2Nice Torque Wrench I have only used this a few times but so far I like it. This is smaller than I thought it would be. Takes up way less room than a torque wrench. The storage box is about 5"x4"x2.25". The torque adapter is approximately 2" in every direction with a 1/2" square male drive on one end and female on the other. Instructions are good enough to get you started, english only, and easy to understand for what is covered. Leaves some things for you to figure out, like how to indicate torque without the beeps and lights. Torque can be set and read in kg/cm, kg/m, ft/lbs, in/lbs, and N/m. One CR2032 battery is required for operation, included, which was a little difficult to reinstall for some reason. The adapter will go to sleep mode after three minutes of inactivity. Taping the MODE button turns on the backlight for the LED display. The display can be flipped by pressing one button so you don't have to read it upside down. Press and hold the MODE button a two seconds to turn the power off/on. The owners manual claims +/- 2% accuracy.The adapter can be set to show the torque being applied, to hold the highest torque, or to indicate when approaching a preset torque. Up to ten torque settings can be preset so you don't have to enter commonly used torques all the time, although it is easy to do. Pressing one button will scroll through the preset torques. When within 70% of the selected preset torque a beeping sound is heard and a red led begins to flash. The frequency of this beeping and flashing will increase as the target torque is approached until both become constant as the target torque is reached. The torque range is 30-150 ft/lbs but I entered 175 in/lbs as a preset, about 14.5 ft/lbs and it seemed to work with no problems. Checked it with a click type torque wrench.The adapter is guaranteed for one year. There are no moving parts. Just a strain gauge, LED, and whatever electronics to convert the strain gauge reading to a output display on the LED. The plastic housing seems to be good quality. Treat it like a accurate measuring tool and seems like it should work for a long time. 5Junk, Worked only once. Worked well when I first got it out of the box. Now its pretty much broken with the faceplate trying to come off and the spring not working correctly for the dial gauge after a while in storage. Stay away from this junk. 1This 13.00 product will cost you 200.00! Can I sue you guys because your product was the most improper build of cheapness so you could make a small profit. I now have had to order a new gasket, new torque to yield bolts and a better torque angle gauge? It does not work do not buy. And you should send me 200.00 in compensation for my troubles! 1
