Customer Reviews

A very, very good BD-R DL disc. Don't waste anymore time looking at other disc and buy these. These BD-R DL discs are amazing. Some very good quality when it comes to burning using these discs. I have used roughly 115 of these and only have 4 failure to complete writing errors when burning them. I have not had a single issue with them playing in my Sony bluray player at all. No artifacting, digitizing, skipping or pausing and then jumping forward. With these you will be able to back up anything digital you own that isn't the cloud which could be erased with out your consent or a hard drive with mechanical parts that could stop working. And from personal experience these things hold a ton of photos, A TON. Like other reviewers have said I would check to make sure your bluray burner can burn these disc before you buy. I had no problems with an LG burner I bought 3 years ago. A very high quality product which I would recommend and will keep buying for my own use. 5Not what they used to be!I purchased these exact blu-rays 14 months earlier in December 2018. I was so happy with the quality that as I approached the end of the spindle, I decided to make another identical purchase. Much to my disappointment, these new discs are nowhere near the quality that they used to be. They don t work in any of my 4 blu-ray players. When you hold them side by side to the older discs, you see right through them. You can t hardly see any light through the older discs from 2018. Also, the newer ones have an almost drab gray label versus the bright white label on the older discs. So if you re creating your own video discs or creating backup copies of discs you purchased, these are no longer the discs you want!2A Totally Reliable Blu-ray Recordable DiscThese BD-R DL 50GB Recordable disc's have been my favorite for the last 5 or 6 years. I have NEVER experienced a failure using these disc's. The life span of the disc's is also a major factor to consider. I have had Major Brand BD-R DL 50GB disc's fail after a year. On the same note I have never had one of these fail and some I have had for up to 6 years with back ups of my favorite Blu-ray movies on them that play as well as the Blu-ray that I backed up. The key is to first use good software to make your copy or rip, then do not record directly from the folder that contains the data but rather make an ISO image of the movie and then burn your Blu-ray from that image. Doing so allows the user to verify the data or image prior to committing it to a disc that can be expensive. This also allows the user to choose where to "Split" the data that is being written to a Dual Layer Disc which means that the Layer is essentially "Page Two" of the 2 page movie, and the place where that data splits is or can be critical to the success of the finished product. This is why an application such as IMGBurn is suggested for this purpose, and it is amazingly 100% free to the user and the most reliable software I have used to record DVD and Blu-ray disc's. One last note, Optical Quantum doesn't manufacture their disc's so its a good idea to identify the disc's that are working well for you. Going from a 4x to a 6x disc will most likely be a totally different manufacturer which may give the user totally different results which is why I only buy the 4x BD-R 25GB and the 6x BD-R DL 50GB disc's from OQ, and they work every time, and that is after well over 1,000 25GB disc's and 600 of the 50GB disc's.5Something changed, discs now unusable.I have been buying Optical Quantum for a while now. Never had a problem. With this latest order of the double layer 50GB discs, all the burning ops failed at the mid point where the layer switch occurs. Sent back to Amazon and got replacement , and all the new ones fail as well. These did work great, but something must have changed in manufacturing process and these discs are useless. I use WH16NS40 Blu-ray burner. I got a 3 pack of Verbatim and they worked fine, ruling out my Blu-ray drive as well as the software. Other reviewers have said the same thing but adding that they do work at 4X, I am not so lucky. Avoid these.1Used to be better quality, now they are junk. I've bought this same product in the past and never had a problem but now I get a very high failure rate when burning (I always use the verification option when burning). To be sure it wasn't my burner, I used it on two other systems (one had a brand new burner) with the same results, even using the slowest speed possible.I won't buy these again and recommend that no one else does. 1Please ban optical quantum from amazon for cheating us out of our money - see my tests.Confirming what other users have reported here, the discs being sold now are no longer high enough quality to be sold. They need to be banned from sale on amazon. See below:Using the LG WH14NS40, the burn proceeds, but all discs fail to verify in imgburn at 51% (layer break), Medium error, L-EC uncorrectable error (see photo). The resulting disc s files can not be read. I have confirmed with another LG WH14NS40 unit this error continues to occur, ruling out the drive as the problem. I re-ordered the same discs and it still happens (Jan or Jul 2019 order date), ruling out a single bad spindle of discs. However, the older batch of discs I had (Bought Jan 2018) burned fine and verify fine. Therefore, the quality with the optical quantum disc is bad. Verbatim 50 GB BD-R DL VBR260YP20SV1 discs burn fine and verify fine in the same drive. As other users have noticed, using the Pioneer BDR-209DBK is able to successfully complete the burn AND the verify with these crappy discs, HOWEVER, if you copy the files off you notice that at the 50% layer break, the speed slows from >25MB/s to 8 MB/s. See the attached graph it recovers its speed later in the burn. This effect is not observed with the Verbatim 50 GB BD-R DL VBR260YP20SV1 discs burned in either the LG or Pioneer drive. Therefore, the new batches of Optical Quantum 50 GB BD-R DL OQBDRDL06LT-50 are not high enough to quality for use in an LG drive, and those burned with the pioneer drive clearly are only able to be read at a slower speed, which is not acceptable. As a person who has been buying ONLY optical quantum discs for 10 years, I am extremely disappointed that they changed their manufacturing and that my amazon return window is closed, so I have 90$ of discs that are not useable. I want my money back!UPDATE:I tried burning at 4x and it burned and verified properly in the LG WH14NS40. Furthermore, it copied without having difficulties reading at the layer break like in my image from 6x in the Pioneer BDR-209DBK.Optical quantum should not be calling these 6x if they can not do 6x (anymore). So, to summarize,Disc ID: RITEK-DR3-000 BAD OPTICAL QUANTUM (Disc ID: RITEK-DR3-000 for good batch too)Good at 4x in LG WH14NS40. detected max at 6x and worked at 6x on old discs though was slow to copy from after burning on pioneer at 6x -problems just beyond 50%, consistent with layer break issue.Disc ID: RITEK-DR2-000 SMARTBUY discsOnly 4x! works fine, copies fine.Disc ID: VERBAT-IMf-000 - VERBATIMDetects as 8x and writes as 8x fine.Disc ID: CMCMAG-DI6-000 - XTREMEPRODetects as 6x and writes as 6x fine (advertised as 4x, so this is a bonus)1Terrible QA from 2019 batches.Absolutely steer clear. Three different bdr drives, three different stations, they ALL burn onto second layer, but the second layer/layer break fails to verify or have the data written on to it retrieved - every single time. Whatever they've done with the most recent batch manufactured has utterly rendered invalid the entire point of this product (its capacity!)I highly encourage other reviewers to select the ' Report incorrect product information. ' at the top of this product page. There is an option to report on product quality, as it seems just a rash of reviews isn't bringing this matter to anyone's attention.Other reviewers from mid-to-late 2019 are correct. The product absolutely needs to be pulled. Now I'm stuck with 4 50-packs that refuse to verify or be read beyond it's layer break, and I'm outside the return window. I urge you to not make the same mistake.EDIT: I've tried these discs on a fourth burner on one of my available systems, an older LG drive of WH10LS30, that is confirmed to have successfully burned BD-DL optical quantum 50gb discs (had an older ten pack to verify). The latest batch from my 50-packs report as an 'Illegal disc' and refuse to even begin burning. Perhaps this is just due to compatibility in the case of the older drive, but doesn't stop the fact that even newer, confirmed supported drives, are having issue with this media as well.Included a SS of one of said drives, and the error you'll quickly become familiar with if you attempt to utilize these newer blanks.1Bad BD-R discsI have been using this brand for over 4 years and the latest 50GB DL Logo Top discs are all bad, the their white printable discs are still burning successfully. I have two approved burners on their approved list and neither burner can successfully burn a disc without receiving read errors. I have gone through 15 discs and not one burn has been successful. They have changed something with the manufacturering of these discs. My verbatim discs are burning successfully with the same burners. Amazon should stop selling these discs!1USED TO BE GREAT BUT NOT ANY MOREThese Optical Quantum OQBDRDL06LT-10 6X 50 GB discs were great when I first bought them but for some reason, they don't work as well as they used to. I tried to back up a lot of my data with these 50GB discs (since the 100GB discs are far too expensive at the moment). Many of them did not verify (using ImgBurn) and those that verified, I found some of the videos did not play correctly. In addition, I now see that the price of these discs have gone up. I tried Verbatim discs and they worked wonderfully.2Coaster party with old drive, works well with new PioneerInitially I rated these one star. Tried them with Asus BW-12B1ST (1.03 fw) installed in my 6 year old desktop build on Windows 7 (AMD X6 1090T & GTX680) and all I got was three coasters. Drive is supposed to be able to write to dual layer blurays just fine and sure does do a nice job burning dvds. But does not work with these. Returned. (suspended)*UPDATE* Kicked it back up to 4 stars (possible 5) after doing some reading other reviews, etc. and decided to try a different burner. In this case a new slot load Pioneer unit attached to my new Acer Nitro black edition laptop (i7/7700HQ & GTX1060). Using only Windows 10 built in burner software I am happy to report a very successful burn of 6 entire seasons of Game Of Thrones (.mkv) on a single dual layer disc. And on the very first try! (New Pioneer burner > Pioneer BDR-XS06 Blu-Ray 6X/DVD/CD USB 3.0 Slim External Slot Burner) No more coasters.4At least 5 coasters in a 25 disc batch so far....I've burned a lot of discs, and I always use IMGBurn to burn my DVD's & BD-R's. Also I know it's best to not run other programs while burning. This batch of 50 GB discs started out fine...first 8 or 10 discs did OK. However so far the next 5 have been coasters, with IMGBurn either refusing them or trying to write the lead-in and quitting with a message about the media. Is this typical with this brand? I don't know, from the other reviews it seems atypical. But at these prices it doesn't take many coasters to become a money pit..Strangely enough, the manufacturer ID is Ritek-DD3-000....could be bootleg or real Ritek, IDK.I don't like writing negative reviews, but there it is.OK I've finished with the 25 disc spindle. 14 coasters! Optical Quantum 25 gb BD-R's seem OK, but I won't be buying any more 50 gb discs.2Perfect BD-R DL disks -- burn easily without errors at 8x speed They work flawlessly. They are state-of-the-art Taiwanese Ritek RITEK-DR3-000 disks.I used them with a Pioneer BDR-2209 (also known as BDR-209M/BDR-209EBK) BDXL burner (updated to the latest firmware) and the free ImgBurn software on a Windows 8.1 64-bit system. These are actually 8x disks according to the software-read media descriptor on the disk, even though it says 1 - 6x on the disk label. Therefore, I used the maximum media-supported speed, which is 8x. I have burned four so far -- one at 4x speed and three at 8x speed. There have been no verification errors and they work flawlessly. 5Working very well for me at 8x I use this to archive/backup files and especially my large photo collection. When I first started using these, I was using other burning software, and my built in LG M-DIsc BD burner, and I had mixed results. But I picked up an ASUS BW-16D1X-U external BD writer (partly because I was having some bad luck with my internal burner, and I suspected it was going south). Now I've been using the external burner with these and Burnaware Professional and Burnaware Free and it's been pretty flawless at burning at 8x. I've burned more than 60 in a row at 8x without a coaster. (Hope I don't jinx myself!) 5Better than Verbatim!I only use Pioneer brand writers since 10 years ago, and right now I am using the older BDR-206.With BDR-206, I have used Verbatim BD-R DL 6x but so far 4x can burn through successfully every time (Windows 10 built-in burner program) but it still grinds a long time half way when switching from layer 0 to 1. Nero would give up easily there. Burning Verbatim with the built-in program at the rated 6x was a shockingly low 30% successful rate. When the burning was successful, data read back is verified good.Optical Quantum 6x, the result has been amazingly perfect so far. The Windows 10 built-in defaults to burn at 8x, which realistic burn time is no different than manually setting to 6x. No matter 8x or 6x, there is no loud grinding sound or long pause when switching layers to test my nerve. Surprise, surprise, this Optical Quantum 6x is better than Verbatim 6x at a cheaper price! Burn with more confidence!5
