Customer Reviews

Good build, I trust that it will support my gear My first trip with this was around Australia and Singapore for two weeks and it did a fine job. I'm confident that it will hold up, and that it won't leave my gear on the pavement. I'm not carrying a heavy load, just a Sony A6000 and Zeiss 16-70mm f/4 lens, so it feels overkill. But I hope to buy a Sony 70-200mm f/4 lens in the future, and so I was futureproofing. Also, the Sony 6xxx series have very small eyelets, and these flexible loops were a definite fit.Knocked a star off because sturdiness comes with a small comfort deficit. The strap on my old camera was a softer, more flexible Neoprene that was more comfortable. 4WAY too short, poor quality, I will be returning this. I bought a different strap from this company a few years ago and it was decent quality. This one is not. Although it seems strong enough the pad looks cheap and unfinished. In addition to the lacking quality, it is WAY too short, even for a short person (I'm 5'2".) There must be some extra straps to buy separately. I can't imagine any serious photographer using it as is. Maybe a tourist that wants the camera slapping them in the chest all the time. No thanks. Very disappointed, and now I have to go through the hassle of returning it. 1One of my best purchases ever I own two of these, a handful of additional Op/Tech accessories, and am considering buying a 3rd one of these to cover all of my main cameras. I don't use my 3rd camera much, primarily because I still haven't upgraded the stock strap.PROS: comfortable, ergonomic, great distribution of the weight of pro gear, made in the USA, great construction quality; can double up two - one on each shoulder. That is a little cumbersome for the bottom strap and camera, but it works well enough that a double harness isn't necessary.CON: The second (bottom) attachment point to a camera isn't a gimme. For my Nikons, I use a Manfrotto base (Manfrotto 323 RC2 or similar) for my tripods, but not very often. With these straps, I just leave the base on my Nikon at all times and loop the strap through the D ring on the bottom of the Manfrotto. It makes my camera bit bulky, but works fine. 5Fantastic... really better than I ever thought it could be Better than I ever imagined. It is fantastic.!I had Black Rapid strap which cost far more than this OP/Tech and it had serious drawbacks. such as unhooking from my camera 2 different ways, yes i needed to always check it, but sometimes forgot. Thankfully, a friend who knew of this danger told me about getting a tether for it; the only way my very expensive camera and lens are still intact. This is a superior camera strap. And, surprised me, they are right. My camera gear feels lighter! that is an added bonus. I have a big lens and it is much more manageable and lighter...Thank you OP/Tech and the great reviewers 5Classic model is cheaper cost and better overall. Wide shoulder strap good for heavy cameras. If your camera is not so heavy, be sure to consider the Op Tech Classic, which I prefer for most all of my gear. The difference between the OP/TECH Super Classic Strap Pro Loop, and the OP/TECH USA 1001062 Super Classic Strap-Uni Loop for cameras and binoculars is very straightforward once you buy both, as I did: the Pro loop has two connectors right at the sides of the neoprene shoulder (or neck, depending on what you call it) pad, and the Uni Loop does not. This is presumably so a Pro can use the former strap to remove the neo shoulder strap to use with other OP/Tech accessories. The threading loops that go into the camera/binocular strap metal arches, and the clips near those threading loops, and the adjustable side black nylon straps, and even the neoprene shoulder pad, are identical in these two models. So, one must decide if they want to pay five dollars more (price may vary with time) for the two uppermost plastic buckles--the ones at each of of the neoprene shoulder pad--or if they will never use them or need them. I'm in the latter group.Note: the Super Pro Loop Strap model features everything the same as the Pro Loop, but has a wider neoprene shoulder pad that is cut in a slight arc, or curve, to go around the neck profile. Also, the Super Pro Loop Strap model comes in colors for the neoprene (but, as any camera maven knows, only black will not show dirt). For me, it's unnecessary to have such a wide pad, even when I am carrying, say, my 4 pound 4 ounce 15x56mm binoculars; I prefer the thinner and non-curved shoulder pad of the Classic versions. Your preferences may vary. I found these straps very confusing, even when watching thye Op Tech official videos, until I bought one of each for myself. Hope you can buy the one that would serve you best. :-) 4A great product that works as advertised I'm not a professional photographer by trade, but I shoot photos as part of my job which sometimes takes me into the field for days. I thought I could get by with the stock strap that came with my Nikon D7000. But after I spent three days carrying it around at a trade show with the 18-140mm zoom lens attached, I knew I needed something better. The stock strap made my neck and shoulders ache. Plus, when I'd try to get some relief by wearing the camera on my shoulder, it would constantly slip off.I spent a great deal of time researching many different options before settling on the OP/TECH USA Pro Strap. I couldn't be happier with my selection. The neoprene padding works as advertised, more comfortably and more evenly distributing the camera's weight. The first time you try it out, you'll feel a noticeable difference. The rubber friction bumps on the bottom of the neoprene strip keep the camera from sliding around on my neck and help keep it on my shoulder when I wear it there.I'm six feet tall and had no problem adjusting the strap to exactly where I wanted it. I prefer to wear my camera lower with a longer strap that enables me to wear it bandolier-style on occasion. I've also noticed that the OP/TECH strap doesn't constantly get twisted the way the stock Nikon strap does. One criticism I've seen about the OP/TECH design is the use of quick-release clips. I've yet to read a review or comment by anyone who said the clips released accidentally, causing their camera to fall. Honestly, the clips are so stiff and solid that it's difficult for me to envision this ever happening. You can buy Velcro strips to protect and further reinforce the clips, but unless you're using your camera under extreme conditions, it seems unnecessary.I know $20 might seem expensive for a camera strap that's not flashy and doesn't have extra features, but if you value comfort, convenience and quality over style and you need to carry your DSLR for extended periods of time, you won't regret spending a little extra on the OP/TECH Pro Strap. It's worth every penny. One final tip: Check out the link below for the OP/TEC video on different ways to attach the strap to your camera. The final reverse/double-loop method is neat and solid.http://optechusa.com/Videos/WebbingConnectors.html 5Very comfortable and flexible system, with caveat. I have found the width (weight distribution) and ergonomic shape of this strap to be notably more comfortable than the "Super Classic Strap" by the same company. Unfortunately, unlike the "Super Classic Strap," the connectors that attach the Pro Loop Strap to the camera do not separate from the "extensions." So, when you want to put your camera on a tripod, or simply hold it in your hand without the strap, you still have two 12 inch straps flopping around after disconnecting the neck strap. (You can snap the ends together, but this is only marginally better.) The work around is to buy a separate set of extensions (OP/TECH USA 1301052) and connectors (OP/TECH USA 1301062 Uni-Loop - System). Odd that the company doesn't sell the padded portion of the strap separately so that you can mix and match this way, and save a little money, and space in your "useful in some parallel universe" junk drawer. Note: the width and denisty of the Uni-Loop connectors may not fit through some camera eyelets. I attached them to Panasonic and Sony bodies without much difficulty. Finally, I would add that I have complete confidence in the strengh and durability of this system. 4Disappointing Comfort and Design Recently purchased an Op/Tech strap designed for smaller, mirrorless cameras, and found it to be incredibly well designed and comfortable. So I purchased another Op/Tech product, the Pro Strap, for my heavy Nikon dSLR, only to be quite disappointed. I typically carry my camera slung over one shoulder and find the padded section of the Pro Strap doesn't stay put. Rather, it continually creeps in the direction of disaster, requiring constant adjustment to maintain some semblance of security. It's downright annoying and uncomfortable. Have tried it with different fabric shirts, with the same results. There seems to be a flaw in the "non-slip" aspect of its design. The rubber underside is rather slick, and the protruding knobs/bumps designed for further grip, are even more so.Compared to the stock nylon Nikon strap, the wide Op/Tech shoulder pad may distribute load more effectively, but considering the poor non-slip performance, I can't rate it any better than the original Nikon. 2Quality Strap with a high level of comfort! Only downside was the size of the pro-loops. This strap is an awesome upgrade from the default Nikon strap that came with my camera! I now feel comfortable carrying a large lens and hiking in the woods! The clips are awesome for setting my camera up on a tripod, or connecting them together and making a small carry strap. The only downside to this product was the size of the pro-loops. I have a Nikon d5600, and in order to get the loops through strap mounts on the camera I had to take a paperclip and shove them through. This was a little frustrating as I was worried I might snap the mounts due to the size of the loops. Once I got them through, they worked perfectly!Overall a great product! I would recommend 100%, but the strap issue is a small thing to consider before purchasing!I will update this after I've had it a couple months! 4Great weight distribution, might be uncomfortable for some This strap is pricey, but many pros seem to recommend it. I bought it after the photography book I was reading talked it up something fierce, and I was not disappointed. The strap is almost two inches wide in the center, with padding and a non-slip coating. The large area distributes weight very well, and my (relatively) small Canon T3 with a 55-250 lens feel like nothing at all on my shoulder. I could easily see bigger bodies and lenses dangling just as happily.I like to wear my camera simply over my right shoulder with the straps fully extended (you'll get 20-24 inches of droop this way), cupping the camera with my right hand to stabilize it as I walk. The item works perfectly for this.I've tried putting the band around my neck with the camera resting on my stomach, but the non-slip material made this fairly uncomfortable when I didn't have a collared shirt on. I can easily understand some of the complaints in ladies' reviews about discomfort with low-neckline blouses. That's something to keep in mind if you're inclined to want to hang this off an unclothed portion of your body -- specifically, I wouldn't want to own it under those conditions. For me however, it is fantastic. 5
