As described and very usefulThis power strip is exactly what I needed to mount alot of outlets behind my desk.I was going to deduct a star however I got the unit to work for me as desired. But here is what other buyers should be aware if planning to "mount"- the mounting screws are NOT long enough to make it through drywall and studs. I had to use other screws I had.- the mounts are designed to mount the outlets straight out and not the orientation in my photos (outlets facing up), which is most beneficial for my setup. The mounts were just slightly too small for this orientation , so I zipped tied the outlets to mounts.- the outlet power cord protrudes as seen in the product photo, however if you want to mount the outlets upward be aware that power cord protrudes a few inches. So you won't be able to get a flush mount or put a desk flush to it.Again great product and did not deduct a star due to, perhaps I used it differently as intended. . But it still worked awesome for my computer room setup.5Seems sturdy, Seems sturdy, but the pulling out one of my plugs nearly caused the prong holder to almost come loose. 3Beautiful strip, surge protection not so muchAesthetically I'm so pleased with this strip. It's s sleek and functional piece of design. But it only provides 400 joules protection, so one star down for that.Update: As it happens, a few days after I submitted this review I left town for the day and left the computer on in case anyone needed to use it. When I arrived home late that night the computer, which had been zipping along in fine shape in the morning, was failing. I did a fair amount of troubleshooting that night and the next day and am resigned: the computer is headed for the graveyard. It hadn't thunderstormed or even rained, so I was baffled as to what had happened. Today I discovered there had been a power event in our neighborhood, and some buildings lost power altogether. That explains it. I knew this "surge protector" was a risk when I bought it not even two months ago and lost the gamble. Caveat emptor.2Good Solution For Replacing Space-Hogging Surge-Protection Outlet "Clusters."I have a number of eletronic gadgets which need plugging-in, such as computer periferals, and chargers for hand-held devices. This item is the solution for a tight space with lots of wall-hanging space, but little on the shelf, for the usual, bulkier surge-protected plugging stations. I strongly suggest: promote the surge protection on the packaging! I wasn't sure if this was the outlet bar I ordered, ostensibly with surge protection, but after checking the item numbers on the wrapper with the order I made, it was indeed, a surge protected bar.4Works as ExpectedCord was too short . I knew that from the description, but it would have been nice to another have to purchase a short extension cord also. Mounts worked well.5Cord shorter than advertisedCord length 2.5ft, not 3 ft as advertised. Needed it to be 3 ft to work. Will be returning.2Receptacles pull out of frame! The white receptacles are not tight in frame and when removing plugs the receptacles pull out of the frame 1/8 to 3/16". You have to push them back in. Bought two of these and they both have the same issue. not exactly premium quality! 2A meltdown! Initially I was thrilled with this power strip, however after using for less than two months the strip did not work as surge protection. My disabled Mother complained of hot smell, Thank goodness I investigated to find the plug had melted on end and outlet. I was under the impression the surge protection would flip off before overheating to this point.The size and easy installation were really great until the overheating.Very disappointing. 2Needed New AC Plug Got all mounted then found out the AC Plug at the end just did not fit in in my ground interrupter outlet.. Compared a three prong plug plug that worked with this one. Both looked exactly the same except AC Plug on the 4 ft outlet strip looked thicker. Tried filing it down with no luck. Now I am going to go to the hardware store to buy a new three prong plug to replace the the existing AC Plug. Which is why I only gave it a one star rating. 1Came cracked on one end. My power strip came cracked on one end. I have a important job that needed this and now I have a product that is cracked on one side of the outlet. I would like a replacement 1Perfect product for an awkward messI typically don't write very many reviews on Amazon at all due to just not having the time. When a product I buy exceeds my hopes then I feel compelled to say something however.My bedroom electronics were a mess - a TV, cable box, roku, kodi g-box, wireless headphones base station and network hub transferring internet from power line adapter were all vying for space on a 2 wall outlet. Actually 1 outlet since the power line internet plug-in was using one of the outlets (i.e., power line adapters cannot be plugged into a power strip).Typical power strip was not working due to some plugs being too large to allow 2 outlets on the strip to be used side-by-side. I screwed this strip vertically onto the back of my dresser, used some cable ties and I am so happy. The distance between plugs on the strip is worth the price alone. Large brick plugs can now be plugged in nicely next to each other and no outlets are wasted on the strip. I'm thinking another in the garage would be nice as well.5Solid construction, works as advertisedGreat item, solid construction, no electrical issues at all. Exactly as described and does what you want. I removed the plastic end caps, which exposed the metal tabs that have pre-drilled mounting holes. This was a more secure method of mounting the strip to the wall than the thin metal clips that were included.5I have used many surge protectors and never had a ... I have used many surge protectors and never had a problem until Opentron. DON'T buy it, even though its "Amazon Approved." The ground part of plug broke off in the outlet. I checked the plug and the ground is very flimsy. Used other surge protectors in the same outlet so the problem is with the Opentron surge protector. SEE pictures. 1Total Garbage - on-off switch broke after 2 months This is very badly made, and the on-off switch stopped working after a month. Was likely toggled 45 times and it then just failed. Cannot now use it as it will not toggle on! 1Constantly finding reasons to buy more!This strip right here, just look at it. I mean seriously, when you see it in person and feel the weight of this sturdy product, you'll fall in love as I did. The amount of outlets is up to you, and nothing insane or cheap anywhere on it. It comes with 2 brackets and 4 screws to easily secure the strip for cable management/safety purposes. I just screwed mine into the bottom of my desk and chained it with a Sabrent 7-Port USB 3.0 Hub so I have hidden nearly all wires and even wifi booster and bluetooth peripherals all out of sight...ON A LAPTOP SET-UP!! Seriously, just get this, I want these every where i have electronics, like near the sink i hid one in the cupboard and the coffee pot, toaster, blender, microwave all look wireless thanks to this great product! Thank you Opentron, you really do Open possibilities!5True measurements, take into account of the screws protruding. The surge protecter is built very well. Heavy and sturdy to the feel. The measurement are a little off due to the screws. Take into account if you need something for 1.57, I measured roughly 1 3/4 with the protruding screws. 3The build quality seems excellent. I mounted this underneath my coffee tableThe build quality seems excellent. I mounted this underneath my coffee table, hidden away, to avoid having multiple wires for charging things running all over the floor. It works great for that.I see at least one review mentioning the surge suppression capabilities. Any "surge protector" that only list joules / doesn't list the clamping response time or the other ratings is immediately suspect. Treat this as more of a power distribution strip than surge suppression system. If you are only looking at moderate protection, get at least 1500 joules. If you want true protection for expensive equipment, get a high end UPS (APC is a good brand). I took off 1 star for this, as it'd be better to not have any protection than to have poor protection (you can't connect a surge protector to a UPS because it might short it out, so you cannot use a good suppression system with this power strip).4One Star After 3 weeks it is not working 1Does the job but...OK, just not great. Power strip has hard plastic caps on both ends -- that are too brittle and poorly formed. Mine arrived with one broken cap. The metal end tabs are sharp -- watch-out! I think the end-caps are supposed to mitigate ;-) The 3 foot power cable is more like 32 inches. It is metal, works well and seems sturdy, other than the end-caps. Horizontal outlets, which have a vertical orientation of the plugs that provide lots of space for power bricks and cords, are hard to find. The Opentron Power Strip fits the bill. I just wished for more attention to detail and a better & safer mounting design.3
