I got this set as an alternative to my allen ... I got this set as an alternative to my allen wrenches, however the sizes seem to be off. I tried two that didn't fit, one example: my 1/4 inch allen fit perfectly, but the 1/4 inch hex from this set is too big, but some sizes fit ok ( I double checked my sizes thinking it was my error ). Maybe hex sockets are an outside diameter and allen wrenches are an inside diameter...I don't get it. Other than that the set seems relatively well made and the case is decent for the price and shipping was fast 2Great set for bike maintenance I use this set with the Tekton torque wrench for all of my bike maintenance, a must-have for keeping the bikes tuned during racing season. So far, this set has been an awesome addition to my tool set and have not had any problems with it. 5Good buy for 13 light duty Cr-V Metric Hex Drive Screwdriver Bit Sockets. Contents:1/4-Inch Drive: 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 5.5, 6mm x 37mm Length3/8-Inch Drive: 7, 8, 9, 10, 12mm x 48mm Length1/2-Inch Drive: 14mm x 55mm LengthConstructed of high-grade Chrome-vanadium alloy steel; chrome-mirror finish, drop forged and heat treated.Secure-fit latched ABS carry and storage case.Neiko USA offers 30 day manufacturing defect return window and a 15 day buyers remorse window but also states we will not entertain any arguments that a tool broke during proper application .If you break a bit, NAPA has individual replacement sockets.Intended for light duty, not intended for impact socket use. A high quality set would probably be close to $100.00. For instance, the 14mm 1/2 drive hex socket from NAPA is $13.50.I did not use the carry and storage case, instead I integrated the sockets with my existing 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 inch square drive socket sets using socket organizers. All of the bits are press fit into the socket and therefore not interchangeable.Individual bits are available from NAPA (in packages of two) in 1/4 hex drive and 5/16 hex drive. Individual bits will require an adaptor socket to hold the bit. Adaptor sockets in 1/4 and 3/8 square drive are available from NAPA.Home Depot also has individual sockets in some sizes. They also have Hex Drive Screwdriver Bit Sockets.Hex bit socket sets are also made by Allen, ATD Tools, Anytime Tools, Blackhawk (impact), Blue Monkey Shop, Cal-Hawk, Capri Tools, Cal, Carolina Herrera, Chapman, Cocoabear, Craftsman, Cruztools, CVF Supply, Eastwood, GearWrench, Genius Tool, JABETC, JH Williams, K-Tool International, Kobalt, Lisle, May very, NAPA, Performance Tool, Proxxon, Rafael Tools, Sears, SK Hand Tools, Stanley Proto, Sunex, TEKTON, Titan, US PRO, Vim Tools, Wiha, Williams, Wilmar, XtremepowerUS, Xuuyuu, ZJchao, etc. 513 High Quality light duty SAE Hex Drive Screwdriver Bit Sockets. A high quality set would probably be over $75.00. For instance the 3/8-Inch hex for 3/8 inch square drive is $5.40 from NAPA.I did not use the carry and storage case, instead I integrated the sockets with my existing 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 inch square drive socket sets. All of the bits are press fit into the socket and therefore not interchangeable.Individual bits are available from NAPA (in packages of two) in 1/4 hex drive and 5/16 hex drive. The larger bits fit on my 3/8" drive torque wrench for things like crank bolts and the smaller bits fit on my smaller 1/4" drive wrench and fit well in tight spaces that would be frustrating with a traditional hex wrench. I'm sure I will find plenty of other uses for these as well.Case works fine, the bits to not click in to place like some plastic storage containers, but they do not come out of place when the top is closed. 5Damn sure got harbor freight beat! Have been working on my motorcycle trying to get ready for this riding season (in which I am already late), but I was using some cheaper tools from harbor freight and that was the wrong move especially after trying to break bolts that have been on for quite some time. The harbor freight tools snapped right in half. I do understand that they are good for harry homeowner projects but these stood the test of time as I put them to work as soon as they came in the mail. Broke the bolts and seemed to serve the purpose throughout the job. Definitely 5 stars with me! 5Not meant for high torque This is a pretty good little set, but it's not meant for high torque applications. I tried using it for reassembling the strut tower on my car (to hold a stud in place while torquing a nut) and the bit just snapped. 3Low price and high value, I recommend this set, and I would by them again without hesitation. I bought these mostly for torquing bolts on bicycles. These bit sockets are high quality, and they interface well with all my hardware, a great fit. The case is sturdy, the bits lay in it nicely, and the latch is very secure. There are size labeled receptacles for each bit; the labels are consistently molded into the case, protruding .6mm from the surface, making them impossible to fade. As mentioned, the bits lay in the case, as opposed to snapping in, and so there is 3.5mm thick sheet of foam which rests over the bits, keeping them from rattling around when the case is closed. This foam sheet is loose, and so you must keep track of it, but im sure one could attach it the lid of the case if they preferred. The bits don't come loose without the foam, but they are pretty noisy. I actually prefer this over snap in receptacles because I enjoy the ease of access when I am using them, and swapping back and forth. This only bit me once so far, when clumsily backhanded the open case, sending the bits flying. This is an excellent set of hex bit sockets, with excellent performance, high quality build, and a nice case. Low price and high value, I recommend this set, and I would by them again without hesitation. 5As others have stated not meant for high torque applications...you get what you pay for... Unfortunately, as some others have stated in the reviews, these hex bits aren't really made for any sort of heavy duty or high torque applications. I was reassembling the strut tower on my BMW and the bit simply snapped off. On another job, I suspect the bit I was using wasn't actually precisely the correct size, and actually seized to a bolt I was working on (I did confirm I was using the correct size)! On another note, after doing some research it seems Neiko offers no warranty and there is no way to get in contact with them. Honestly, for sets like this, if you are doing work on cars, etc. I guess the moral of the story is you have to invest in proper mechanic's tools. Won't be buying Neiko again. 2Good for the DIY mechanic This is a pretty decent set for the price. The steel seems hard enough and the fit and finish is good. The fit obviously isn't as precise as a Wiha set, but for someone who somewhat frequently needs hex bits it's great. I managed to break the 5mm bit on a stuck exhaust bung bolt, but that was probably a job for an impact wrench anyway. If you work on motorcycles a lot, you might want to consider a nicer set. These work, but if you have to apply significant torque they tend to damage the fastener heads a little. For the first few uses that is okay, but if you own a bike that constantly needs wrenching *cough italian* then you'll need to start replacing fasteners every once in a while. They definitely fit better than an equivalent Harbor Freight set.The case is decent, it holds the bits in place. They fit a little loosely which is mitigated by the little sheet of foam that comes with it. The foam is loose, but easily fixed with a piece of tape.Overall, it's a good buy! If you don't feel like throwing down for a nicer set, these are a no-brainer. 4
