Don't Use as Driveway Running LightsI purchased these lights to run the length of my driveway (there is no other light). While it looked nice for the first couple of days, I found myself occasionally just bumping into them with the door when I opened it, or my legs. Within about a week 2 of them broke. Also the light that gets emitted isn't extremely bright which disappointed me. I would change the material so it is more durable (also is quality now) and make sure the wiring inside is all good, since I would have nights where they wouldn't turn on at all (they were in the sun during the day and the panel was uncovered) 3Moonrays 91381 A Major DisappointmentThese lights were a waste of money. I have used other solar lights and needed to replace the ones outside my cabin in Georgia. I went up to spend time and while there replaced the old lights with the Moonrays. These Moonrays 91381 lit up the first night after a full day of charging and they looked great. However, it was short lived. After only a couple of days they stopped working, and yes, they are sitting out in the bright sun so they should be charging and lighting up at night but they don't. What a waste. 1DO NOT PURCHASE: Poorly constructed from cheap materials, plus too many units are defective.Very poor construction. Plastic is very thin. The first 2 units that I assembled were broken. In one unit the wire had broken off the the soldered terminal and from the remainder of the wire. So there was about 4 inches of bare wire moving around in the fixture. The second fixture was poorly manufactured and could not be attached to the light housing. They say you get what you paid for, but in this case, you don;t even get that much. Amazon needs to follow up on one-star reviews and discontinue selling defective products. 1The best in Solar LIghts !I bought 2 packs and wow do these light up the walkway !!!! They give off a beautiful reflection on the grass so it looks MUCH brighter along thepathway. They are a breeze to set up and well built . I simply love them and my neighbor has already asked if they are electric ...because of the lightthey give off.I would certainly recommend this particular model to those who want to buy solar lights. 5Good lights - but recommend a battery upgrade.Having read all the other reviews, I was somewhat concerned about ordering these lights but I am very glad that I did so. Yes, you do need to be careful and gentle when assembling them - but it's not really that difficult and I ended up with nothing broken. Just follow the directions and all will be fine. Also, I did have one light fail within the first few days, just as was reported by some of the reviews. When that happened, I removed the battery and replaced it with a normal, non-rechargeable battery just to see what happened. The light immediately lit up, indicating to me that it was a battery failure, not a light failure. I replaced the battery that came with the unit with an Amazon Basics AA Rechargeable, and the unit worked just fine. In fact, it worked so well that I replaced all of the original equipment batteries with the Amazon Basics AA Rechargeables. After doing so, I noticed that my Moonrays lights were brighter, and lasted longer than they had with the original batteries. Yes, replacing them with the Amazon Basics batteries nearly doubled the cost of the lights, but I am so pleased with the results that I would do it again in a heartbeat. With the original batteries, my lights were dim at best at 6 AM on a Virginia December morning. With the Amazon Rechargeables, the lights are still shining brightly at 6 AM - even when it had been cloudy the day before. Clearly the original batteries are lesser quality batteries designed to keep the cost of the lights as low as possible. Upgrading the batteries gives a much better result - albeit at a something higher total price. I have now had these lights installed outside for over three months including multiple snow events, and with the new batteries for over one month, and every light is still shining brightly, just as I had hoped. 5Low to Average Light Output , Low Grade Plastic Decomposed In 24 MonthsThe light is minimal to moderate. Not the best solar LED lighting I've had installed over the years as there are plenty of other options that product more light. The biggest issue I have with these is that just 2 years after installation the black plastic housing has completely decomposed on several lights to the point where a heavy rain broke through the housing and left the electronics exposed. The LED still works after putting in a new battery but they look horrible. I've pulled out the LED and solar panel to re-purpose them for another project but it looks like all of these will have to be replaced by this summer. The cheap Chinese plastic that has leached all the oils into the environment and the plastic is brittle and decomposing. If you are doing with solar LED for environmental versus "ease of installation" then go elsewhere. Not sure where as every single yard solar light I've found is made in China likely with the same cheap plastics and throw-away design that will fill up the landfill in a couple of years.Does anyone make products designed to last these days? Sure doesn't seem like it. 3These are THE most beautiful solar lights we've ever boughtThese are THE most beautiful solar lights we've ever bought. The photos do not do them justice. They give off a circler light all the way around giving them a completely different look than your average solar light. (see photos) We got these last July and they are ALL still shining strong. GREAT set of solar lights! I just bought another set for the FRONT yard. 5and all the lights work but the fixtures are quite small and really don't produce much light (it's more like a glow)These are just OK. No problem with assembly, or missing parts, and all the lights work but the fixtures are quite small and really don't produce much light (it's more like a glow); not to mention the fact that the light is displayed in a splintered pattern and not evenly diffused. There is simply no comparison to the size, quantity and quality of light that my other solar lights produce. Yes, they are more expensive but do the job they were intended to do. They are from Frontgate. The light they produce is many times brighter than the Moonrays and is distributed evenly in a 360 degree arc, the solar cell is almost 5 times larger and the battery is a 3.2 V lithium. 3Started OK but went downhill fast. - REPLACE THE BATTERIESUPDATE - It's all about the batteries! Moonrays sent me some replacements that had a slightly higher milliamp-hour (600mAh instead of the original 400) but that didn't help at all.So I replaced all the batteries with Amazon Basics High Capacity batteries 2400mAh (milliamp-hour) - and these lights stayed on completely bright the entire night - which this time of year is 13 hours!. Obviously it makes the lights more expensive - but worth it if you want them to stay on all night.Started out OK when they stayed lit for about 5 hours...- but after 2 months now they only stay lit for an hour. After a full day of sunlight - just one hour of light after dark. It's fall so it has been getting colder - and not sure if that is a factor - but it's only in the 40s at night. Very disappointing. 2Just okay, you get what you pay forI bought these 1.5 years ago and waited to post the review until I was able to test them out.Pros-Emit a good amount of light. Was able to light my walkway-The glow of the light on the ground looks pretty.-Easy to install, just put them in the groundCons-If it is slightly cloudy, they will not charge up.-The light only stays on until about 10 pm before it runs out-Don't stay up that well, We have very hard soil, so we dug a hole and placed the light inside and packed it back up with dirt, but as soon as it rained, they didn't stand up straight anymore.-The plastic as started to yellow-The plastic has cracked after being knocked down and replaced so many times.Overall, if you need light quick and easy I would recommend this product, but if you want something that will last, pick another light. 3
