    Good price for a product likely to break after a month. This Moen product was installed in both bathrooms when I moved in. The inner plastic ring is really thin (<1/8") and expected to put a lot of force on the medal "knob". Unfortunately, this means I have to buy a new one every month when it cracks or spend $$$ on a plumber and parts to replace the entire system. Honestly, would have been better spending the extra money. I've tried a generic as well, and same issue. I think I am going to paint a wrench real nice, and it will do a much better job. 1DO NOT BUY!! don't waste your time. We ordered three of these because ours kept breaking (the whole thing is plastic - including the inside ring which turns the shower using force) so we got this one - Danco 80004 Single Metal Handle For Moen - and it works amazing! The whole thing is metal so no more plastic breaking. My only concern is the screen into the shower seems small but it hasn't let us down yet! And best of all - the metal LOOKS SO MUCH NICER! Even my husband said it updated our bathroom - 1Broke in less than 7 months I heard the dreaded crack after only having this handle on for a few months. I say less than seven in my headline. It was probably closer to four. When I heard the crack, I thought it wasn't possible since the handle had only been on a few months. Sure enough, the next day the handle broke. I'll have to get another as a band-aid solution, but after this, I'm going to look for a better solution. How quickly these break says a lot about the quality, or lack thereof, of Moen products. 1NOT built for a lifetime! Until we upgrade the shower fixtures in our bathrooms we're stuck with these. Normally, Moen stuff is top-shelf, but this handle is sorely lacking. Sure it's contractor-grade, but it's what came with the house and for simplicity sake I usually just find the same part on Amazon and call it a day. Now I think we need to just do the tear-out I've been thinking about for a while and start over!I'm on my third set of these and inevitably after a couple years I'm stuck changing bathrooms to take a shower until it can be fixed. Every time it's the cheap-o Moen knob and it's inferior design. I've gotten to the point of having a back-up in the closet just waiting for its turn. That's what you do with batteries, not fixtures! This is a common complaint based on numerous reviews. I can vouch for the durability issues.Jae 1I bought a replacement in May of 2015, and ... I bought a replacement in May of 2015, and it broke in January 2016. Now the one I bought in January 2016, just broke today mid June.This is from just turning and the plastic snaps. Unacceptable quality. I will never use Moen products for anythingwhere I have a choice. They do not make these to last. 6 months is not acceptable. 1Easy to install shower handle, fits perfectly! Easy to install - my daughter did it herself in a few minutes. The unit fit perfectly and works like a charm. This gives my daughter the flexibility to make decisions to remodel her bathroom based on her schedule and available funds vs having to repair the shower faucet. I would purchase this item again if needed. 5As Advertised Unlike most other reviewers, I've had this knob on 2 showers for 11 years before they broke. Coincidently, both broke on the same day. This after one shower being used daily for 2 people and the other having been used only a handful of times. The less used one broke after taking it off to eyeball what a not-broke one looked like. It broke putting it back on. Same plastic piece broke on both most reviewers mentioned. Have the same type knob on 3 bathroom sink faucets, only a smaller size. None of them have broke yet. Not sure if Moen made this a little different on the older ones to have them hold up longer, or the fact that there's only 2 adults using them.Ordered these as a replacement and they fit perfectly. Used expedited shipping as I was reduced to using a pliers to manually turn on/off the water in the shower. Arrived in 4 days. Took less than 5 minutes to replace. Keeping my fingers crossed they hold up as long as the originals, but ordered 4 extra knobs just in case. The price was certainly reasonable enough to order extras.***Update on 11/6/2013***Still using this replacement water knob for the shower that I bought 2 years ago with no problems. One in a shower being used at least twice daily and one on a seldom used shower. 5Recommend Delivered quickly. Ordered because Home Depot store did not carry this size. The back opening is larger in diameter. It fit perfectly. Some reviews mentioned it broke soon after. If mine does I ll update this review but for now will recommend. 5Replacing whole faucet would be terribly expensive. If I ever do have to replace ... 5 years ago I bought a house with three bathrooms with these plastic handles on each tub faucet. They were breaking continually. However, I found a way to make them last longer. When you turn the handle, grab it securely and as close to the wall of the shower that you can. In other words, don't grab it far out on the handle where that little bump is. Stay as close to the inside as you can while turning it on or off. Also, don't jerk it. Turn it firmly and smoothly. I think that grabbing it too far away from the base puts a strain on the plastic. I hope I'm explaining it so it makes sense. I've just replaced one today that has lasted for a couple of years--a long time in my experience with them. I'm reordering so I always have a few extras. Yes, these are not quality, but what can you do? Replacing whole faucet would be terribly expensive. If I ever do have to replace the entire faucet unit, you bet it won't be this brand! 2Cheap replacement = Multiple replacements We've had three of these now. First one was included in shower when the house was bought. When it broke we figured it was just because it was old. Bought a replacement, installed it and it worked great. Problem solved, right? Nope. We originally replaced it in September, and the replacement broke in January. Oh well, maybe we used it too roughly. Bought another replacement. Broke 8 days after installing it.I'm taking the advice of the other commenters and purchasing Moen 100657 Lever Handle for Single Handle Tub and Shower Faucets, ChromeEDIT: After purchasing and installing the replacement linked above (see separate review), we noticed our shower wasn't always turning off completely. We ended up replacing the stem, and everything turns much smoother now. This might be part of the reason the handle broke (it's still cheap and breaks way too easily), but that might help someone out. It was pretty easy to do, we used something similar to this Moen 1222 Single-Handle Posi-Temp Replacement Cartridge 1
