Customer Reviews

Great for ceiling lights!I purchased this to install 4" recessed lighting in my new house. Living in New England, the home is over 100 years old, and I quickly discovered horse-hair plaster ceilings. While hole saws typically lose their edge after a few tough cuts, this specific one cut 10 holes before losing it's sharpness. I ordered a second one (they're certainly priced well enough!) and finished the job with 8 more cuts. Only downside was that it was difficult at times to remove the drywall from inside the saw, but a stab with a flathead screwdriver usually took care of that. 5Good Hole Saw, Stays Sharp even with Structural FiberglassI have several sizes of these hole saws and they are still sharp after several years of cutting holes in both wood and fiberglass (boat hulls and decks). Fiberglass in particular can dull a hole saw quickly, but I am pleased to say this brand stays sharp after about 50 holes, so far. This will fit my other arbors, but I recommend the one made by the hole saw vendor: http://www.amazon.com/Morse-M45P-Boxed-Arbor-AV20-AV96/dp/B000E8BFIO/ref=pd_bxgy_hi_text_yThat arbor not only works great with these hole saws, as you would expect, but also works with Dewalt, and Starlett hole saws. 5Gets the job doneI bought this to install some recessed lighting and bought the MK Morse M45P Boxed Hole Saw Arbor as suggested by another seller. It was perfect! My electricians went to town with this set up! This hole saw cut right through sheetrock and the rock-hard clapboards it was mounted on. Ran wires and installed about 16 lights in one day.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000E8BFIO/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_63https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BTRZ2Y6/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_70https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014TEJ2CY/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_74 5Excellent product, did the job exactly as requiredExcellent product, did the job exactly as required.I bought 8 LED recessed can light fixtures to upgrade the lighting in my kitchen. These required 3-7/8" holes to be drilled in the ceiling sheetrock. This hole saw was the exact diameter. The only reason I give it 4 and not 5 stars is the fact that neither Amazon nor the supplier highlighted the fact that it requires a 5/8''-18 hole saw arbor instead of the more common hole saw mandrel. This caused some inconvenience and delay. I eventually bought a hole saw arbor from the local store for 4 times the price of the hole saw. If Amazon and the supplier are listening, may I suggest that you (1) highlight the fact that this hole saw requires a 5/8-18 arbor and (2) recommend the matching arbor along with this product as well. 4Works wellI bought this hole saw to drill large holes into books for upcycled book products. I make lamps, planters, doorstops and other items out of used books. I wasn't sure how long it would last for this purpose. Books may seem soft, but drilling down about 4-5" through a stack of tightly clamped books isn't easy. This hole saw has been doing a great job. I have to stop regularly to remove the individual pages and covers from inside the hole saw, but they're pretty easy to remove using the openings along the sides and back. I've sawed through about 20 books and it's still going great. 4One shot, one kill.Since I only needed to drill one hole, I wanted to use a low cost saw. This saw, with theMK Morse M45P 7/16-Inch Arbor unit, was a better deal than I could find on the web, or in the big-box home stores. Once you get up into this larger size range, the blades & arbors are sold separately, for big bucks.I needed to drill a clean, neat 3.5" hole (exterior wall) into the vinyl siding, thru the foam insulation, old shingles, old fiber insulation and the 1/2" wood, for a 3" PVC sch40 pipe(3.5" OD).I figured going 1/8" larger than I needed would make installing the PVC easier. It was actually too easy. It was a little loose. I probably should have ordered the 3-1/2" saw.Anyways, this saw is very sharp. The hole in the vinyl siding is perfect. No chatter marks at all.As it passed each layer, I pulled it out and cleaned out the center, using a nailin the side slots (clean-out slots). Having used other brand hole saws before, when installing mini-splits, I was surprised at how quickly and cleanly this Morse AV58 cut.The threaded hole for assembling the saw blade and Arbor (MK Morse M45P 7/16-Inch Hole Saw Arbor) was perfect. When tightened up very snugly, the Arbor's pins were exactly alined with the holes. No wobbliness in this tool. The drill was an Hitachi FDV 16VB2 1/2".This is the perfect hole saw.. Too bad I only needed one hole! :( 5Works well... but make sure you buy an arbor bit!!!Works well to cut holes in my ceiling for recessed lights... NO complaints!!! However, I was disappointed to find out that I needed to purchase an arbor bit to use this. Amazon.com did not recommend one, nor did the listing come straight out to tell you it didn't come with one. Perhaps if I had owned a hole saw prior to this one, I would have known I needed one but this is my first project of this type. This delayed my project, as I had to make a trip down to the big box to buy on for an additional $20. 4Not the best hole saw aroundI bought this hole saw because I needed to run new 4-inch exhaust duct for a dryer. The diameter (4 1/8) was perfect for that purpose. However, the saw did not cut nearly as well as the ones in my Milwaukee brand set. There seemed to either be too much paint on it, or the teeth were maybe not offset enough. Anyway, the saw "loaded up", and overheated. It was barely deep enough to bore through the end joist on my old farmhouse (dimension lumber), even after I re-bored for the mandrel.Even though this saw did manage to finish the job, I'm glad I didn't buy a whole set of this brand. 3Cuts through steel like BUTTER!! Great Saw!I am a professional mechanic and used this product at my shop to cut a fuel cap hole for a diesel truck we installed an auxiliary fuel tank for.The AV76 by MK Morse cut right through the sheet metal with an air drill in less than 30 secs, making me very happy with his purchase! This hole saw will meet all your needs from wood to steel, it will make you that nice perfect round hole you desire!Do make sure to also buy the other sellers option for the drillbit with chuck adapted for this unit of you don't already own one. 5Outstanding bit.I have a MK Morse hole saw kit and have used it for 14 years now, since we built our home, and it's been outstanding. I and needed a 2 1/8" so this is the first bit a looked for. It too works great. I will purchase MK Morse again over any other brand, even Milwaukee which would be my second choice (all my tools are Milwaukee which are excellent). 5
