Customer Reviews

Not my first set of shears, but definitely my best The angle between shearing jaw and handle is great for keeping your hands clear of the item you are cutting. The shears are sturdy, sharp, and seemingly durable. I noticed zero change in cutting performance while making some changes to my home HVAC runs. I even attempted to shear through the near quadruple folded joint of the main duct halves. I don't have the hand strength to force it through that joint, so I needed to use a hack saw, but I noticed no issues with the shearing edges afterward. It cut straight and smooth. 5While I still needed to use a lot of muscle to cut the sheet metal it was definitely doable and it made a nice clean cut I needed to cut a piece of (fairly thick) sheet metal to patch a hole in an HVAC vent. I bought a pair of snips from Harbor Freight since I knew I would probably only use them the one time. Unfortunately the HF snips were way too flimsy to cut the sheet metal I had bought and since the handles were plastic they were warping and bending while trying to cut the sheet metal - it just made a big mess and I couldn't have completed the cut even if I wanted to. I did some research online and found out about these snips as they are (apparently) considered some of the highest quality snips. While I still needed to use a lot of muscle to cut the sheet metal it was definitely do-able and it made a nice clean cut. I wanted to cut a circular piece since the hole I was covering was circular and I had no problem. The only reason I had any trouble is because I believe the thickness of the sheet metal I was cutting was near the upper limit for these snips. I probably should have paid more attention when I was buying the sheet metal as I went overkill for my particular application :-) . I would definitely recommend these. 5Best snips money can buy! 10/5 stars Made in the USA! These are the best snips you will ever buy. They are beautifully crafted from the soft durable grips all the way down to the narrow tapered cutting edge. I have tried Wiss, Malco, Lennox, Milwaukee, and pretty much anything else that's worth trying and none compare to these. The cut with the least amount of pressure out of all those. But perhaps the best thing about these snips is that no matter how thin you make your cut, they will NOT pinch the metal. I have found that to be a problem with all the other brands, which can be especially annoying when you just need to trim out a little bit more metal to make a perfect fit. They are also very robust, withstanding all sorts of drops without deforming the metal or the clearance of the cutting edge. You will not regret this purchase. The ONLY reason you will ever have to buy another pair of snips is if you lose these! 5Best snips out there I'm an apprentice metal stud framer and have been getting a lot of advice from journeymen in the trade. Practically every journeyman uses these snips. I had the milwaukee brand from home depot but they didn't stand a chance to these. Those made my hands hurt and everyone who tried them said they where bad and recommended midwest to me. So I got this one and it has made my life easier. Strong, durable, and cuts easier than the other brands. 5Best snips on the market. I've extensively tested and reviewed various metalworking snips for my job, these were by far the most superior and quality products we tested. Can't recommend using them enough, the price is steep, but the tool is worth it. If you're going to be doing any metalwork, from a small DIY project to long-term working in the industry you'll want these. Some professionals say they only use greens and reds, because you can go straight with both of these tools, and that the yellows aren't worth buying. As someone new to the industry, I recommend getting the yellows, it's useful and won't rely on your skill to get those straight cuts. 5Best snips money can buy IMO Union Sheet Metal Worker here. Midwest is what me and all of my coworkers use. Snips are our most common tool in the trade. These are the ones with the ribs in the handle which I also like, better than the slick handle. 5Wish I bought these years ago I wish I bought these years ago. The offset design is fantastic. I'm just using these around the house but they are a lot better than the classic straight cutters have used for years. With the straight cutters I would almost always cut or scrape my skin on the sharp metal edges. With the angled cutting edge my hands are away from the metal edges and I did not get a single scratch last time I cut duct. They seem to be well designed and built and should last me a lifetime. I like that I can use them for straight cuts and curves. Buy the right and left hand cutters at the same time, you'll be glad you did. 5not the best. Now after using these i can tell they ... I work hvac and use snips on a daily basis. Started with wiss, threw those away. I have been using Milwaukee for 2 years now, they were ok, not the best. Now after using these i can tell they are much better! Sturdier construction and feel to them, cuts are much better, and the grips feel great. I don't know why i didn't switch earlier. 5Hands down, the best. I've always used these snips, I abuse them. Typically, they'll last any good sheet metal man about a year if you use them every day. They're worth the price, as they're literally the only snips I will use to cut sheet metal with. DeWalt, Stanley, Klein, Wiss, I've never seen these brands perform with the strength, ease, durability and finesse as these snips do. If you know how to really cut with these things, you know what I mean. You just can't flip, spin and angle other brands the same way. I will admit to a certain disdain for their new choice in grippers, I've noticed after repeat cutting, they can tend to 'turn' sideways. Yes, they're softer than the previous 'hard-as-rock' handles, but they slip around a bit, which can annoy you after a time. Also, they're great for trimming your nails while you're waiting for the new guy to figure out what you asked him to do. 5Works great even on stone coated steel shingles I bit the bullet and decided to put a new Decra Shingle XD roof on my house last week. The shingles have a stone coating and after fighting with my old straight aviation snips and tin cutters I decided it was time to upgrade so I ordered these on Sunday and they were at my door on Monday. These snips are much better than my old ones and made cutting the trim and vent pipes much easier. Forged steel made in the USA. What else can you ask for? 5
