    Like the design, not thrilled with the quality I would have to agree with a few of the reviewers on some issues with on this item. We too also had this design from another manufacturer and that one lasted a long time. However that manufacturer no longer makes this style and finding this style in stores has been impossible. So we have bought 2 of these in the last 4 years, which puts at replacing every 2 years for the same toilet. Both have broken/cracked in pretty much the same spot and the paint wears off underneath the seat as well, from cleaning products (or otherwise). Based on previous experience with other toilet seats (including from this manufacturer), we now seal the exposed metal screws with a couple of coats of clear nail polish because eventually they rust out, leaving rust remnants every time you lift and close the seat. Overall, we like the design because our decor is seashell based, but are not thoroughly satisfied with the quality of the product. 3Easy install & beautifully made! I knew it would take months for my husband to install this toliet seat so I tackled the job myself. Since it was my first time, I studied the instructions first. It took longer to remove the old one than it did to install this one. I love the way the seat locks onto the bolts, which means no movement when you sit down. The design and paint finish is gorgeous. We love this thickness of wood for the seat. Great product! 5This is a nice design with a unique feature! We have been using this design of toilet lid in our home for many years. Suddenly they have become hard to find in our local stores and we were happy to find them still available on Amazon. We just ordered two of them as we replace the older ones every so often. My wife likes the bone color as it matches our ceramic fixtures.The toilet lid is a stylishly carved sea shell pattern that looks more modern and fits into the decor of your bathroom. What is unique about this toilet lid is that it unlatches from your toilet in seconds and allows you to clean the toilet faster and better. In addition, replacing the toilet lid literally takes second as it snaps onto the toilet.We have never had a problem with these toilet lids and they are securely mounted to the toilet and they look nice. A toilet lid has never come loose in many years of use. I rate them as a five star product. I have attached a short video to show you how the latching mechanism works. I hope it is helpful for you. 5The best toilet seat I have bought so far. This toilet seat is great, it was very very easy to install and it looks really good. It is not cheap looking at all and I am very happy with it. I was going to order 4 more but the price went up and so I will wait and see if it drops again. As toilet seats go - this is an excellent one and yes it does come off super easy for cleaning. 5Perfect Topper for The Throne I am very pleased with this toilet seat, in fact, I ordered two. The shell pattern is tasteful and adds some flair to an otherwise "blah" item. I especially like the removable seat feature that makes cleaning the seat and toilet bowl a breeze. Installation was very easy- less than 15 minutes. The locking mechanisms are quite secure, but are also easy to unlock as needed. I thought the price was reasonable and this retailer was very quick to process and ship the order. I recommend using cleaning solutions that are non-abrasive and do not contain bleach to keep the finish looking new.Other reviewers have noted problems with the hinges. I suspect this is an installation problem. Once the screws are set correctly and the hinges are seated correctly on the upper brackets this seat should be very secure. It is also important to push the locking mechanisms on the top until they "click" into place. Mayfair also has an online video that is helpful 5Solid product Seems super solid and the way it mounts is also pretty sturdy. You will need either a 5/8 wrench or an adjustable wrench to install it however no screwdriver is needed. The only concern I have is the screws that the screws that hold the hinge one appear to be zinc. Meaning they will rust. However almost all toilet seat hinges are attached that way. I will update this if anything goes awry over time but for now a nice solid product. 5The product itself is great. I think the problem is with packaging The product itself is great. I think the problem is with packaging. This is the first one I received and the edges had chips in about five spots on one side and another chip on the other. Evidently the packing on this item only protects the front and back but not the sides.Returned and received a prompt replacement. The replacement has two small chips. One on the lid and the other on the seat. I can not replace this again since we are now in need of a toilet seat. There are none in our area to replace this with and we are having guest stay over. I did the best I could by touching-up with white paint. 5Since I like the design & just ordered another one to replace ... I bought this item a couple of year back and wanted to write a review stating the performance during this period. What I have noted is that the paint used on this product is "not solid" as other competitive products. The color tends to fade off quickly especially on the inside of the seat, facing the bowl. I had this shell shaped seat from another manufacturer & it lasted over 10 years without any noticeable color fades. Unfortunately the other manufacturer no longer makes this shape and that is the reason I ended up purchasing the Mayfair brand. Since I like the design & just ordered another one to replace the one I bought two years ago but will not expect it to last in good condition for more than two years. 3Cracked within 2 months - Just outside the return window time. Purchased on June 4th, 2018 & it cracked through completely on July 9th, 2018.We bought the same brand/type over 4 years so for this to break so quickly makes me suspicious about the changes they've made to the quality of their product. 1Don't buy this if you plan to CLEAN your toilet!!! Mayfair's wooden toilet seats can only be cleaned with soap & water. Any other cleaner...including plain white vinegar, will discolor the seat (yellow, pink, beige). So if you clean your toilet seat with disinfectants....and I'm a nurse... I hope you do (E-Coli is deadly) ...this seat is not user friendly. The design is pretty but don't let the good look fool ya!! Please clean your toilet seat with some kind of anti-infective!!! 1
