Customer Reviews

Stay away EXTREMELY outdated and HORRIBLE customer service. Simply put the product doesn't work as described. It will randomly just stop tracking and wont work again until its unplugged and plugged back in to the car. 1 minute updates? nope.... More like 2-3 or maybe 30. Is my device defective? Its quite possible that it is but since i have contacted customer service 4 times now and they haven't contacted me back at all i have no choice but to return the product and go a different route. Just purely based upon the customer service i have received i would avoid this product at all cost.If thats not enough lets get into the interface of the device. Speed limits? This literally looks like it was coded for windows 98 and on top of that it uses a version of google maps that google doesn't even support anymore. Its clunky, slow and just looks honestly like they paid someone $5/hr to write all the API calls into google maps for them. There is alot of new products on the market now. Im going to be looking at those and suggest you do the same.Edit: I cant reply to their reply of this review so im editing this and replying again. 100% of what they said below is a blatant lie Look at my photos do those look like 1 minute updates to you? I guess the car drove 12 miles in 1 minute huh.... Liars If your so right why have i still never received an email or a phone call from you? Ill tell you why because you and your service sucks... 1Just a good device for young drivers overall This device has definitely given my husband and I peace of mind as we placed it in our 16yo car. It alerts us when he gets to school or leaves a particular area. Plus it tracks speed overall for the week. Just a good device for young drivers overall...esp when mom and dad are paying the insurance. I'd also recommend this product for aging parents. 5Works great; high spatial and temporal accuracy! Love this device! It works extremely well, even in rural settings. There sometimes is a lapse in data (I have the 1-min plan), but after the device regains cell service, it transmits all the previous location and data information for when it wasn't in-range. Having a bit of a problem with the email of alerts, but not a problem since you can go online and view all the archived data and specialized reports. This is a great product and I highly recommend! The accuracy and dependability are superb, as is tech support. I was a little skeptical at first, but after reading the reviews and doing some homework, I'm glad I got this unit...really does get the job done as described! 5Works great! Needs a few minor improvements. I bought this to keep track of my 17 year old son and his 2002 Chevy S-10. We have had it for a few months now and bought it with a year of monitoring service. It is super simple to set up. It has always been reliable and it lets me know where he is in his truck at all times. I can check reports and it tells me if he was speeding or braking hard or whatever. His truck is slow as hell so, I never get an excessive acceleration alert. There's just a couple of things that bother me though. The app for iPhone is pretty much useless. I can go direct to the site in Safari but it's pretty clumsy to use on a phone. Also, I set up geo fences so I'll get a text when he leaves or arrives at the house, work or school. That works great. However, it creates a new text each time. As if it were from a new person. It's not a big deal. I just have to keep deleting texts all the time. Still, this thing works great and it's a great peace of mind for me. 4Great product, easy to use and the on-line tracker ... Great product, easy to use and the on-line tracker architecture is very good. Customer service is AWESOME--at 18 months of use, my unit would could not be recognized and their agents were great. I sent it back and they repaired it at NO CHARGE, and it was returned within a week. And..it was not under warranty. Rarely do you get service like this any longer. I highly recommend this to anyone needing an inexpensive, quality OBD vehicle tracker! 5Simple, Works, Reasonable Cost That's the usual trifecta. Completely plug-n-play. Installation a snap (literally). I do recommend you get a right-angle OBD extension cable of about 3 feet, which will allow you to wire-tie both the MasTrack and cable up out of the way rather than it sticking down obtrusively from your under dash OBD port. From time I first plugged it in, to time I was watching live positional data on the map was about 10 minutes. This includes the time it took me to go register an account at their website, activate the device, and sign up for a monitoring plan. The user interface on the website (as others have noted) is a bit clunky but if you are just a little bit tech saavy and used to such things you won't have any trouble navigating it. The lack of a dedicated mobile app is why 4 stars instead of 5. You can make do with a mobile browser, and I don't mind that, but really... there is just no excuse not to have an app.One other thing, because it is portable (a strength) it is easy to remove (a weakness, depending on why you are using it). You will know if this happens, or if it is moved to another vehicle but that is small comfort if your tracking just winks out because the device was unplugged. That is why I recommended using an extension cable to hide it away from the OBD port. You can purchase serialized plastic security loops/seals to wrap around it and help identify when/if this happens, although it would have been nice if they thought to include a hole in the clam shell itself to facilitate doing this.Bottom line is I wanted something that was plug-and-play, quick and easy, and not enormously expensive. This is all of these. Long term reliability? No clue. Time will tell. But my initial impression is very positive, enough so that I came back to rate it. 4Excellent. Really like this tracker. This is great! we have it plugged into our son's car and can check on our phones where the vehicle is. We bought the monthly subscription that shows us where the car is every 5 minutes. The subscription is through MasTrack and is about $20 a month. you can cancel at any time which is great because we can cancel it once we see that our son is going where he actually says he is. We've told him it is on the car. Where it plugs in, under the dash, he may or may not have noticed it had we not told him it was there. You can see the end of it with the white label when you sitting in the driver's seat, however that is just on his car. you may not be able to see it on other cars and if the driver isn't looking for it they may not even notice it. 5Very satisfied with the tracker and the interface. Works great for me. I basically just plugged it into the port, activated it on the net via the website, and it started tracking. I'm not sure if this is for all cars, but my car has to be on to activate the port, so it only sees it when the car is turned on. I'm in Hawaii, and I was a little concerned about if they have satellite service over here, or whatever, but it works well over here too.You can go to the reports page (once you activate) and you can see reports of when it started, when it shut off. You can even pull up the map and see where you went throughout the day. I'm pretty impressed with this device. First tracker I have ever had in my car and it's pretty cool. 5An eye opener! This tracker is working beyond my expectations. Install and setup was super simple. Plug it in and go online to activate. The location was found immediately and was spot on. I purchased the full year of two minute updates and find that the 2min frequency is more than adequate for tracking our tracking purposes. I also set it up to send speed, harsh braking and extended idle time alerts. You'll be amazed at what your vehicles are up to when in the hands of others. In one month of daily use I have only briefly lost the signal twice where I did not receive a few 2min updates. The online interface is sort of clunky to use but it gets the job done.Overall I am pleased with this and would purchase another if needed. 5Tracks the car great This is a pretty cool product. At any time you can find out where your car is. You don't have to worry about powering the transmitter because it gets power through the OBD socket. Speed alerts can be set to any speed, boundary alert are also easy to setup. You get a text when any alert occur. You can get alert for each time the car is turned on or off, and it gives location. For $25/mo it tells you a lot about your car and where it's going. It also alerts you if someone removes the device and plugs it back in. Nice unit, been fairly reliable. I will say that sometimes there are delays in alerting you, however the event time is in the text, even though you might get it an hour late. At any time, you can go online and see where your car is, which is empowering if you are questioning where your kid is going, or what route he's taking, etc. Works pretty darn good. I didn't give it 5 starts due to the delays sometimes on the alerts, not sure why that happens, but it does occasionally. 4
