    Clamp is great. Bolt has changed from previous model. 1/4" only. Not both 1/4" & 3/8". The clamp is exceptional. The bolt has changed. I bought this previously, but my first was just stolen. I bought a replacement, along with a ball head. The previous bolt "hexagonal stud" had 2 different thread sizes, 1/4" & 3/8", one on each side of the bolt. This is to screw into the camera, or my in case a tripod swivel that I took off of a tripod. Now replacing the swivel with a ball head. The new one only has threads 1/4" threads on 1 side... and my swivel has a 3/8" nut. Now I have to buy an adapter. The previous model had both size threads. That was great! This one only has one. The smaller size.The clamp works wonderfully well. I wish they kept the bolt as universal as before. 3I love this thing in combination with the magic arm I love this thing in combination with the magic arm. Vice like grip on tons of surface. Doesn't mar acryllic and doesn't budge.I've hung a heavy and expensive 4k video camera on a boat t top and left it there for 300 miles traveling at 28 to 40kts in a variety of conditions.....No rust, no slippage. And no damage to the boat 5The clamp is easy to tighten with a very good sized handle I used this clamp in conjunction with the Manfrotto 196B-2 143BKT 2-Section Single Articulated Arm Manfrotto 196B-2 143BKT 2-Section Single Articulated Arm with Camera Bracket (Black) and have found an incredibly powerful and versatile solution. The clamp is plastic, but still very strong. There is an included jaw leveling block for attachment to flat surfaces, which is how I used it. The clamp is easy to tighten with a very good sized handle, and pretty intuitive. The built in socket has a -20 stud making it very easy to attach to any type of gear. Overall, this is a huge step up from the cheap clamps available elsewhere on Amazon, and the first of many I will keep on hand. 5Superior Quality Gear I have twelve Super Clamps and other Manfrotto clamp gear. Excellent construction and flexible connectivity. All my pods and heads are Manfrotto. Some are even Lester Bogen.As to threaded holes for attaching studs just read the other Reviews. The clamp holds a nice selection of studs, extensions, flexible arms, flexible heads, supports etc. I use a lot of Metro shelving units and the clamp holds lights, cameras, screens, reflectors and more. Look at the Manfrotto on-line catalog for answers. I appreciate the design plan of Manfrotto. There is other gear out there but with my collection of great gear, I am very happy. 5Extremely versatile, strong secure clamps These clamps are so incredibly useful for many different jobs. They are primarily designed for clamping to light stands, booms or tripods, but will clamp onto just about anything. Motorcycles and vehicles, fence or patio rails, doors, tables, and counters are just the beginning. The included wedges make these clamps easy to use on flat surfaces.The build quality is excellent. The main clamp bodies are made form beefy thick aluminum, with steel and brass hardware. The main tightening handle is plastic, but it is very strong and I have never been worried that it might break. The side pin tightening handle is also plastic, everything else is metal.The rubberized grip surfaces are very durable and won't peel off like cheaper clamps.This clamp has one 5/8" (16mm) hex stud receiver (this version comes with a stud) and one 1/4 - 20 threaded female that is centered in the clamp. It's nice that it comes with the 2908 (#036 Manfrotto code) stud, however, you might also want to purchase the 2907 (Manfrotto 037 Reversible Short Stud) because that's the one with 3/8" thread that will fit most tripod heads and the Manfrotto variable extension arm! It will also sit flush with the clamp whereas the stud they give you sits raised off the unit like shown in their image. You can use one of those little adapters that screws over top of the 1/4" (which is what I originally did) but that little screw on adapter will give way with heavier equipment and cause the arm to loosen. Almost lost my field monitor!! So I just ordered the 037 adapter. I recommend it if you plan on using the Manfrotto extension arm...remember your equipment is resting on it!! 5Solid clamp with wide jaw range and firm grip, perfect fit for the Manfrotto AutoPole Summary:I purchased 2 units of the Manfrotto super clamps, to attach several types of equipment to the Manfrotto AutoPole 2 that I own as well.The clamps are made from a solid aluminum and offers a solid grip. According to the manufacturer, the max. weight limit for this clamp is 15 kg - So far, I hung with it mostly LED lights, and it held them firmly.The clamp is padded from the inside, so when it surrounds the Manfrotto Autopole 2 that I attached it to, it doesn t scratch the Autopole.The jaw opening range of this clamp is 0.5 - 2.1 (1.3 cm - 5.3 cm) which is relatively big and makes it easy to fit this clamp with various setups.I purchased the clamp along with a metal stud, that is useful and durable, but I was a bit surprised to learn that it shows marks from the screw of the items I attached to it. Since it s a metal stud (and not a cheap one), I thought it will not show any scratches or marks. But so far, at least it didn t bend inward, like a cheap aluminum stud. You probably will need the metal stud, so I recommend getting it as well, as the super clamp is sold either with or without it.Overall, the setup of my equipment looks great and seems to be in its place thanks to the Manfrotto super clamps, so I m comfortable with it and can sleep well at night and it won t fall on my head, so it was worth spending the extra bucks on the more familiar brand and start working.Please note I attached to this review screenshots + a video I made about my experience with the super clam.****FAQ :****If you have any, please do ask and I will do my best to answer them. 5I bought one - now I wish I had bought three (so much better than the cheapie clamps) This takes ALL of the hassle out of mounting your DSLR or iPhone/Android as a camera to shoot video (clamp this to anything anywhere and you are good to go in less than 30 seconds).I bought this because I was tired of messing around with the standard generic spring "smart phone spring loaded clamp" that you see everywhere. They are easy to use and about 99 cents on ebay, but I actually value my phone, and after a few times of those things almost losing their grip on my iPhone while I was shooting video or product shots I realized that 99 cents versus replacing this overpriced iPhone was not a tradeoff I could live with. I even tried the Square Jellyfish (don't - just don't). This clamp is a monster. If you are at all serious about filming with your iPhone, Android, or DSLR and you need a reliable way to get your "camera" (or phone) to remain motionless while you shoot this is what you need.It may seem like overkill at first, especially when you compare it to those cute little spring clips, but once those spit your phone out because you bumped into it while adjusting focus you will come to see how amazing this thing is. It clamps ANYWHERE. You can mount your iPhone to a branch, or a broomstick (if you don't have a monopod), or to a tripod, a C-stand, literally anywhere. The adjustment knob/handle spins easily for quick expansion and the jaws open ridiculously wide - I believe well over 45 degrees (I didn't use a protractor). I was a bit hesitant about buying something so industrial, but this will last me a lifetime, and all of the instructional videos I make in the future will be a lot easier because I am not fighting with my equipment - I am just getting the shot. To me, that is what really counts; doing what I do instead of wrestling with crappy equipment (which I have done far too much of already - being on a budget). I really think you will like this thing. Thanks for reading this. 5It's a clamp that clamps things. I use these clamps mainly to hold a rain umbrella on my monopod when I have shoots in the rain. It's a well made clamp that clamps things, I'm not sure what else to say about it. I bought the Manfrotto super clamp and a cheaper Limo Studios knock off to see if there was some major difference. The short answer is no, not really. You can stop reading here if you're impatient. That being said though the Manfrotto does seem to have better fit and finish. For example they both come with a little rubber triangle that fits in the jaws for when you're clamping to a flat surface like say a table. The Manfrotto piece fits snugly on the clamp both when you're using it and when your not it's molded well out of good material. The Limo Studios one....well that one is gone it fell off some where because it never fit properly it was misshapen from the get go. Similar story with the brass binding post the Manfrotto post is machined well, fits in place snug and has no jagged or sharp edges. I'd totally trust the Manfrotto product to hold my expensive studio equipment. The Limo post is sharp enough to sever an artery, fits with tons of slop but tightens down fine enough. Would I dangle an expensive strobe head off of it, I'd probably rather not. The handle used to tighten the clamps on the Manfrotto is long enough to do the job but not so long that it gets in the way when you're using it in tight spots. The handle on the Limo is too long and hits everything it seems. Bottom line is that if I were using it in a studio to hold lights, modifiers and backgrounds I'd spring for the Manfrotto clamps. If you just need to hold an umbrella on your monopod get the Limo clamps, they're good enough. 5Liked the first one I ordered awhile back that I ordered a 2nd one. If you don't have one of these and you occassionally find yourself looking for a place to put a flash or your camera somewhere where a light stand or tripod isn't practical, then you should try this clamp. It has huge jaws that will clamp to the edge of a 2x4 or bigger down to bery thin material if necessary. The v-shaped jaw also allows it to clamp effectively to almost any round pipe -- but be careful that you don't crank it down so tight that you collapse one of your light-stand shafts.Difficult to figure out (and un-documented in paper that comes wtih the clamp) is a small plastic wedge-shaped "filler" device that can be secured in the "V" of the jaw in order to make plug the V and make one side of the jaw flat. That actually helps the devide grab more firmly to a shelf or wall of a cabinet when there's not enough room to slide the clamp all the way onto the shelf (all the way back to the hinge side of the jaw). The wedge is stored out-of-the-way at the base of the smaller t-shaped knob.That standard stud is the key piece of the clamp and is what you'll mount any kind of ballhead or just a flash hotshoe. The stud is also secured into it's slot on the edge of the clamp using that smaller t-shaped knob. One end has threaded male tip that fits a hotshoe and the other end is slightly larger and fits the sometime larger opening of a ballhead mount -- like the bolt on top of your tripod. Other Manfrotto studs will also fit the same slot where this stud mounts, but they'll need to be any of the studs that have a hexagonal base (not one of the round ones). Therefore, if you need a female stud mounted to the clamp so that you can do something like mount this sideways to the top of a tripod & then use the jaws to grab something, that's the kind of versatility you have with this clamp. Manfrotto's web site has several documents (catalogs & product data sheets) that show the many different ways that this clamp can be used.Once you get one, you'll realize you can probably use 2 or more in your lighting kits. 5
