Customer Reviews

Really Excellent Customer Service! I sent an email to sales at wondermotor at 8:29 pm and got a CAD drawing and link to drive pulleys at 8:51pm. Really impressive! 5Works Great! I used this to motorize my manual awningPros: , It works great, lots of torque, its quietCons: A little pricey, Placement of mounting holes made installation a little difficult for my application 4Great inexpensive little gear-motor. I used this little gear motor to electrify a hoist I had made for my mobility scooter. All of the manufactured hoists were meant to lift the whole scooter. Due to space in the rear of my Jeep Patriot I have to load the scooter in pieces. I can't lift the rear axle, battery, or main deck. So I made up a handy little hoist that fit in my hitch receiver, using the lightest boat trailer winch I could find. HOWEVER, this was beginning to cause problems in my right shoulder from cranking. Then, I stumbled on this little gear-motor while surfing Amazon. After some pondering & calculating the torque requirements, carefully reading specs, etc. & a visit to Wondermotor's website to confirm specs.,I ordered one. I've finished the hoist & used it a few weeks & it is working fine. I have no idea what this motor is actually for but it seems to be a quality, well made device. It's up to the purchaser to decide if it is appropriate for his need. But I'm completely happy with the outcome of my project because it meets my need for something that I just couldn't buy anywhere. Just one little warning... The motor is powerful for its' size but the driven gear is white plastic (maybe Nylon) Don't use it where the torque load is greater than its' rating.UPDATE: May 22, 2016... OK, I've been using my home made hoist with this gearmotor for over a year now & it's doing the job perfect. A few weeks ago, I took the side cover off to inspect that plastic gear. It's doing GREAT! I lubed it with some multi-purpose grease just because I thought it might be a good idea. I was looking at the owner's manual on line for a Fiamma camp trailer awning & the motor on the electric version looks EXACTLY like this one. 5works perfectly this is a fairly powerful motor and it worked well for my project. its large, but quiet and has sufficient power to roll up a large heavy shade 5X 5 foot shade. your power supply must be 3 amps at 12 volts DC. 5Useful, but some details not optimum. Overall, this motor has a configuration that makes it easy to integrate into a mechanical design. The one issue I have is the location where the wiring exits the motor body. This location is 180 degrees from the side of the motor the gearbox projects from the most. This requires allowing at least an additional half an inch of clearance from the motor centerline on this side (top in the image) that would not be required if the wiring termination were located at another point on the circumference. The ideal location from the perspective of minimizing package dimensions would be to place it on the same side as the gearbox, in that location the electrical termination would not be a package dimension constraint to any significant degree as it now is. 3So pleased I bought a second one This strong little motor does the job for me. I have it attached to a 3 foot pipe and it winds a small rope to form sort of a block and tackle to raise and lower an assembly. I have a switch to reverse the voltage thus can easily lower the assembly. I am so pleased that I recently bought a second motor. 5Five Stars It is something difficult to find. It works well within the defined parameters and is efficient. 5Very well made for the price. This is a very good low RPM and high torque DC motor. I'm using it to power a large photographic turntable using #25 roller chain and it's awesome. It comes up to speed quickly and its speed is easily controlled by a PWM controller. I've only been using it for a couple of weeks but I feel it's bulletproof. 5Superb customer service I have now bought a few of these motors and they have worked non stop, when I put too much load on one motor it broke the gears down and i asked Wondermotor to please sell me just a gearbox as the motor was running fine, they not only replied within 2 hours but had already shipped a replacement gearbox with motor Complete! and at no charge! I will be buying from these guys forever.I call that Customer Service!! and not so much replacing the motor but the prompt answer! I would have gladly payed for the replacement as the break down was my own doing. 5Great! Pro:Very quietPlenty of torqueThe motor being perpendicular to the shaft makes the installation more compactCon:None so farBe sure to refer to Wondermotor's website for a drawing of the motor and it's mount. Including a copy of it with the motor probably wouldn't be a bad idea. 5
