    The clamp part fails after a few months, so this seems like a good purchase at first and then later not at all. This Wizgear magnetic phone car vent mount has a significant design flaw. I have had the same problem that almost all the other 1 & 2 Star Reviewers have had. I purchased this in Feb 2018 and by June 2018 the clamping arm with the little tooth on the end, opposite side from the thumb screw, bent 15 degrees from the heat of the sun on the dash area of the car in a way that it cannot fully tighten on the air vent louvers. I would have included photos but they look just like all the other pictures already uploaded of the same bent clamp arm. At that point the item became completely unusable for it's intended purpose. I do not see how anyone would be able to expect this item to continue properly functioning for more than a few months. Those two clamp arms should really be made from metal as they are fully exposed to high heat where you would expect to use them. The magnet portion of the holder is very strong so I am re-engineering that part for use in my home. 1Did the job for a decent price If you are like me, you have purchased a boat-load of different products to mount your phone in your car, only to become quickly disenchanted with them after a relatively short time. As such, I have a variety of different widgets that provide different ways to grip my phone and that all support adjustability and interchangeability through the same sort of plastic friction ball mechanism and that attach to the car in different ways. I had settled on a great clamp-based solution for my own car and phone, which worked great, but I just replaced that car and that solution no longer works well. I was looking for a car vent mount since it is highly portable and could in theory work on just about any car, making it good for travel in rental cars. I bought this mount for the piece that clamps onto the vent, not for the magnetic grip of the phone. I am not sure I like the idea of gluing a metallic plate to my phone or phone case so it can mount, nor am I that enamored of the idea of having a magnet mounted on my car vent. But since this has the standard friction ball, I was able to try various of the phone holders and marry them to the vent clamp and find a fit that was just right. Since I live where the weather is generally warm, the idea that the AC will cool the phone appeals to me as well. If I used the heater a lot, I might not appreciate this as much. But it seems to grip strong and hold my phone in a good place where I can see it and interact with it without much hassle and more importantly without taking my eyes off the road for any long duration. If it continues to work out well, I may buy another to take on trips where I need to mount my phone in a rental car since that part is TINY and hence take up little room in my carry on bag. 4Love it I just got this phone holder yesterday. I was so excited that I had to install and use it first thing. I was happy to see that it was easy to install all I had to do is choose the vent put the prongs into the vent and use the little adjuster to close the prongs to keep it from slipping or falling off. I LOVE it!! I was worried that it would scratch or even fall off with the first use but was so happy when I saw the little thing to adjust the prongs so they wouldn't slip off, I can angle the magnetic part to easily see the screen which makes using maps easier. I chose this over others because it has 6 magnets rather than 4 so I feel like it is stronger and will continue to keep my phone in place for the long run. 5Not universal, but... This products works great except the clamps are too thick to fit in my car vents. I have a 2001 Honda Civic and I tried all the vents, they just wont fit in there. So, its not universal. Luckily for me, I have a horizontal CD storage door right below the radio, and after adjusting the tension screw all the way out, the clamp does fit on there. I m giving this 4 stars because I actually like the height of it better clamped on the storage door. I have a magnetic phone case, and it sticks right on the magnet pad, so I cant say how well the magnets and adhesive for your phone case work. 4Great product until it breaks (x2) I've had 2 of these break within a couple of months. For whatever reason, the arms that grip the air vent stop working and become angled in a " V " shape (the two arms should be parallel to each other and then you tighten them down onto the vent - update: see the picture attached to this review to show what happens once the arms are no longer parallel). Once this happens, you can't tighten the arms down all the way and they no longer grip the vent securely - the mount flops around loosely. Before this happens, the mount is perfect. But I've had it happen twice now on 2 of these units, so now I'm looking for another alternative. 1This product is nice and is as the picture shows This product is nice and is as the picture shows. The only issue I had with the product was do to the size of the insert portion that attaches to the vent. Each side on the portion that inserts is somewhat thick and only fit one of the vents in my Audio. It does have some weight to it, so focus this mount towards the bottom of your vent. The fact that you can tighten it via the screw on top really sold the product for me as it will not go anywhere once it is mounted. 4Car Mount - Poor Design The seller is fine, but the product is awful. I've only used it a couple of times on rental cars. I purchased the car mount in April so it's too late to return it. The clamp does not clamp down evenly as you tighten the screw; it's tighter as you get closer to the screw (sort of V-shaped). Accordingly, the clamp does not stay on and constantly flies off when I'm driving. Very poor design. 1Order this. There is no better mount available for phones. These are awesome. I have one in each of the following vehicles: 2006 ram 2500, 2014 Ram 1500, 1995 Honda del sol, 2005 Honda Civic. These are the best magnetic vent holders. They have a little tab that goes in behind the bend slat which prevents you from pulling the mount out of the vent. I ve had other versions without the tab and the they never stayed in place. The magnet is very strong so your phone does not easily come off. I don t see how anyone could complain about these mounts. Maybe if the slats on your vents run vertically instead of horizontal. But I think it would still work for vertical style vent slats. I ve tried many different types of mounts, This is the last mount I ll ever need, hands down. I don t even shop for new options any more.This does place your phone in front of a vent. Which is nice during the summer time your phone will stay cool with the ac. In the winter, if you re blasting the heat, you have to close the vent your phone is mounted on. If your car does not have vents that can be closed then you just have to leave your heat on the floor or defrost setting and then you don t have to worry about your phone getting hot. 5Not good for a heavy weight cell phone Quality & construction of product is good, but this item is not strong enough to hold a heavy weight cell phone; it will fall off magnet when driving & taking turns to quick. Mine did fall off when taking a turn. Also with cell phone on magnet & whiled hooked onto car vent, the vent closes because of the weight of magnet and phone together. Product serves it's purpose & I do recommend it but for lighter weight cell phone. I have a LG G2 & it fell off once so far. 4The Best Magnetic Vent Cell Phone Mount By Far I don't understand why others have had problems. I've tried numerous mounts (>12) of different sizes and types of mounts (magnetic, clamps, glue on, slip on, dvd mount, etc ...) looking for the "perfect' mount at least for me. You name it and I've probably tried it. I have a drawer full of mounts that didn't work well. Of course, there is no one size fits all so it depends . Again, if you're looking for a magnetic mount that attaches to your car vent (horizontal or vertical) and your phone is not overly heavy with the case ... then this is by far the best mount you can buy. That little notch on the clamp and heavy duty magnet really makes a difference. Including my wife's and daughter's cars, I've had about 6 of these installed with no problems for over a year. I even use one for travel. BTW, I've use the mount with the Note 4, Motorola Z Force and Play, Galaxy S5 and S9+, and the Essential Phone. I would highly recommend. 5
