Customer Reviews

My kid poured water on several of my nice Apple keyboards My kid poured water on several of my nice Apple keyboards, and so i decided to stop throwing money away. This is a great choice for the budget because not only does it work with apple seamlessly, it has all those extra keys - one click shut app off, copy, paste, print, screengrab, enlarge/shrink. My ONE pet peeve and why they didn't receive the 5 stars - because it's a fantastic financial deal to get a keyboard AND mouse at this cost - is that there is no way to lift the back to change the angle of it. The bottom lip is thicker than the mac keyboards, which means my wrists are slightly more elevated than they were before. And I notice the difference. I will have to get a wrist support now, which is good for me anyway, but just so you know, if you're sensitive to this. The keystrokes are actually softer than my last bluetooth mac keyboard, where my fingertips would get sore, and this is very feathery pillow soft. I'm having no issues with typing long things on it. Definitely better than any cheap PC keyboard I've ever used. The mouse is fine. I miss my left and right swipes of the smart mouse of mac, but I'm also really sensitive to bluetooth and wife signals, and being able to turn my computer's bluetooth off is great, as these devices are both wired. I also have pretty large hands, but the mouse size doesn't bother me.Overall very happy. 4Works well with air, but characters are fading I do like it, it's exactly what I was looking for and helps with posture while my air is on a stand. The keys aren't as quiet as they claim, but everyone in the office thinks I'm a fast typist! The problem I'm having is that the keys characters are fading. I know how to type so the letters don't matter so much, but some of the special keys I don't remember and those are fading as well. Anything we can do to put something on top without having to replace the entire keyboard? I tried writing with marker, but that ends up fading as well. 4Wired keyboard to replace wireless Apple keyboard and mouse Got this to replace my wireless Apple keyboard. I preferred the wireless keyboard and Magic Mouse because of how effortlessly they glided and such but I am trying to avoid so much wireless stuff at home. This product is an affordable alternative. It took some getting used to as its bigger than my Apple keyboard was and the keys press differently and there are different short cuts to learn. For what it is, I cannot complain. I am glad I bought it. 5Decent product - I can recommend this. The keyboard has a cheap, PC Jnr/ Speak n Spell toy game feel. The biggest problem is the function keys are pre programmed and override all functions you normally use them for. For example the F1 key overrides ALL previously programmed functions AND QUITS ANY OPEN APPLICATION when it's pressed. It's been close to an hour now I have had it plugged in and trying to search the internet and Apple websites to figure out how to override Macally's function keys. If you find this inconvenience tolerable and the feel of a toy keyboard is ok, then by all means go for it.Update 31/10/16Upon receipt of additional info not immediately discernible in the instructions that came with the keyboard, my headache about the function keys is now solved. Apparently it was simply a matter of pressing the FN key and the Up or Down arrows to change function key functionality. I'm most grateful to the folks at Macally for their assistance. I am now adjusting my review and will recommend the keyboard to you - if you have no problems with the cheap keyboard feel. The keyboard itself works as it should, the keys are low profile but provide good tactile feedback response when pressed. I also should mention the keyboard comes with a cool Macally mouse - which works really great. So, to sum it up in pros and consCons: Cheap, toy feel Instructions were not as clear as they could have been - I was not able to understand from the instructions that the FN and up and down arrow keys toggle functionality. Maybe it was my poor understanding, but I felt it could have been made more plainPros: Good tactile feedback response from all keys Useful Function keys functionality Comes with a 3 button optical mouse 4Better than the Mac products I bought the super wireless mouse and extra expensive Bluetooth keyboard along with my overpriced Mac, and got rid of them in favor of this, if that tells you anything. I was sick of low battery warnings and a keyboard and mouse that wouldn t wake the computer up and wouldn t charge through usb. This wired set was super cheap and is actually compatible and perfectly comfortable to use instead of the Bluetooth set. It s a shame they re too old to return, because they were about $300 new, and I just replaced them with this $17 set I prefer 900 times better. The only problem I ve run into is that there are no compatible rubber keyboard covers, so I m stuck with white. Whatever. I ll live. 5GREAT CHANGE TO REPLACE WIRELESS Yes it works with a Mac but it may not be recognized like it wasnt for me. It took some time but I made it happen with time. Afterwards I was able to use it without issue. The mouse was great too, love the scroll the most. I got this because my wireless Mac keyboard goes through batteries faster than kid in a candy store. I just cant have battery death interrupting me when I am writing a novel. Not a good thing. I give this keyboard 4 stars instead of 5 because I do miss the thin board I had from Mac but I do like how this feels. It will take some time for me to get used to this. 4Great wired option for iMac I bought this because I was frustrated with the Bluetooth connectivity issues my iMac was having with the High Sierra OS. I had never had any issues with previous operating systems but suddenly my keyboard and mouse were sporadically losing connection and the issue was getting so bad that I was using my computer less frequently. This keyboard and mouse caught my eye because it was white, lightweight, and seemed to be a perfect workaround until Apple fixed the issue. I was very pleased with the way the keys felt and the low profile of the keyboard felt similar to my Mac keyboard.Once Mojave became available and I upgraded, the Bluetooth issues have gone away. Knock on wood that the problem doesn t return, but if it does, I m glad to know that I have a reliable and aesthetically pleasing alternative that will stay in my office closet for easy accessibility. 5Pros and cons, read on I really love the keyboard by itself. It's great as a backup if you're using the wireless Apple keyboard and it runs out of batteries, or if you need a full size keyboard with the keypad on the size for entering numbers. I work from home, so this is a must. Batteries were adding up.The keys are tactile, just as they. They require slightly less pressure than the wireless Mac keyboard, which is nice for fast, QUIET typing. In addition, the keys themselves and the spacing in between the exactly the same, so you don't have to get used to the change in using a new keyboard. It's not like going from Mac to Windows. This really is a Mac keyboard. They're true to their word. See my photos of you don't believe me.As for the mouse, that's why I have 4 stars. Again, great backup for wireless, especially since the wireless Apple mouse sucks on battery life. But, the scroll wheel isn't very good. The sensitivity isn't calibrated correctly so if you scroll one or two 'clicks' on the wheel, you don't always get a screen response. With faster, long scrolls, it's fine and I have no complaints.Overall, this is a great buy for the price and I highly recommend! 4Cheap and lite weight but not for regular use I needed a basic backup usb keyboard and mouse for my Mac Mini. I didn t want to spend a lot for them just because they will gather dust most of the time. I mostly use the Magic keyboard and Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad. But when reinstalling MacOS, you have to have a usb keyboard and mouse. I needed a cheap set so I could do the install after upgrading the memory and hdd. This keyboard and mouse feel lite weight, certainly, but they feel very cheap. You can easily bend the keyboard without really applying much pressure to it. You can have it sitting on your lap and it flexes as you litely tap the keys. If this was going to be my primary keyboard, I d send it back because it would quickly and easily break in a very short time. Forget it if it was to stand up to heavy use. The plastic casing is just way too thin. I did try using it on a flat surface, a desk, and because of its super thin plastic casing, the keyboard moved all over the place with just lite single finger key tapping.Even the mouse wouldn t last constant, casual or heavy usage. Heaven forbid you squeeze it because you ll easily crush the mouse in you hand if you grip it too hard. Both would get crushed if you dropped anything that has a little weight to it on them. Imagine a book or binder... not real heavy items, but they d crush these if they were sitting there when you toss your book/binder on your desk.However... if you re like me and you just need a compatible keyboard and mouse for a single use or extreme occasional usage... then these will fit the bill. Cheap, as you do t want to spend a lot for something you ll never use. It once or once every few years. Just be careful where you store them and be sure to not have anything sitting on top of them! 3Has some conflict issue I don't what the issue is but this keyboard required pressing the Fn and Esc keys together to lock the function keys so I can have F11 and F12 show/hide desktop and widgets instead of open DVD drive door and increase sound volume which I've had set this way for years.Well periodically at random the mouse pointer would freeze and that function lock would UNlock and the locked light would go off.I would have to unplug and replug in the mouse to get everything working again. When it was happening at random several times over 2 days I decided to unplug it, put in my old keyboard and buy another keyboard.Once I plugged in my old keyboard the mouse freezes stopped, of course Macally no longer MAKES the Icekey5 combo any more and it was only 2 years old, so I had go find a different keyboard. 3
