    If you need durability, spend a little more and get a better handle. This is a nice looking handle with some great reviews, which is why I bought it. However, for me, this handle lasted six months before falling apart and becoming inoperable. Granted, the handle was on the entry door from the garage - the most used and highest abused door in the house. And, every complex mechanical device like this is going to wear out eventually. However, the construction of this handle always seemed flimsy and turning the handle never felt smooth - as if internal parts were rubbing (or grinding against each other) in ways they weren't supposed to. Even though it looked nice, it felt cheap every time I opened the door. So, I wasn't too surprised when I pulled the broken handle off the door and found fine metal grit or powder coming out of the various crevices.If you're purchasing this handle for a low-traffic location (e.g., a linen closet), you have a lot of linen-closet like doors (or you don't use them much), and you're on a tight budget (cost adds quickly if you're buying many of these for new construction)... this may be the handle for you. I don't think it's constructed for heavy-duty, high-traffic use. I think in this case you get what you pay for.I've now installed (and recommend) the "Schlage F10VACC716 Accent Passage Lever, Aged Bronze" (also sold by Amazon), which seems to be much higher quality for just a few dollars more. OK, twice the price ($32 vs $16) at the time of this writing. But, for me, a sturdier handle with smoother operation will save me money in the long run (more than a year). I want and expect a door handle to last years, not months.Good luck in your purchase! 1Love them Love these, they were beyond easy to install. I had no issues all you need is a screw drive. I am amazed at the quality. They are sturdy and heavy. The picture looks like they are black but definitely oil rubbed in color. 5I love them! The color is exactly what I want I bought about 15 of the passage (or non locking) door handles for my house. My only gripe is that sometimes the handle gets stuck either pointed too far down or too far up and doesn't always reset to being at the level horizontal position. This doesn't happen all the time, only once in a while and not to all of the handles, so it's not enough that it annoys me to want to return them, especially having installed 15 of them!Other than that one issue, I love them! The color is exactly what I want, it's a dark bronze color with some rubbing to show a lighter bronze. The strike plates have even held up well over the past 8 months with only some scratching, but it is not noticeable unless you really look for it. Would I buy these again...I sure would, especially for this price! 4Works nicely- but be prepared to repaint every door, on both sides Works nicely, and looks fine too. You have to look hard to see the place where the door handle can switch sides, and my wife didn't notice.BUT, the bezel is smaller than a standard door knob, about 1/8th inch, so you have to paint every door on both sides unless you want a ring from where the old bezel rested. Not a huge issue if you were planning on painting, but I had already done that 6 months ago and wasn't planning to do it again. 4Wonderful Substitute for Round Doorknobs Very simple to install and works beautifully and smoothly. I need to replace every single doorknob in my house with these ADA-approved passage locks. My grasp is not compromised like it was using round doorknobs with freshly-lotioned hands. 5Great looking product! I bought four of these handles a few weeks ago. They came a few days after I purchased them. It was easy to install. What I like the most was, the easy of changing the direction of the handle. It comes with a small Allen wrench and was very simple to change. Others I have purchased have been very difficult. Would recommend this to anyone. Very good product! 5Great update to our home Great update to our home. We compared the Legend brand to Schlage and for the price, Legend can't be beat! my husband had no issues installing all throughout the house and that is including sometimes having to reverse the levers so they face the same direction (curve up) for each door. Would purchase again. 5Looks good but what is the point if you have to ... Looks good but what is the point if you have to replace it? I noticed right away the spring wasn't strong enough to confidentially return the handle every time. I figured something might be sticking a bit and would work loose. (After all, I see decent reviews) after a year of dealing with often having to pull the handle back to the middle it is now so weak it won't even stay there. The spring won't even hold the weight of the lever so the door doesn't stay closed without using the deadbolt. Off to the local store. 1Pleasantly surprised with the quality Pleasantly surpised with these door handles. Was dreading having to replace door handles because of the cost, but these were spot on! They do have ones that lock and don't lock, so just make sure you check. The locked ones are a bit more expensive. I am ordering them in segments, but I worry that they styles changes, so I probably wouldn't wait too long in between orders if you split them up like I am doing. 5Five Stars Love these knobs!!
