Customer Reviews

Shapes are asymetrical and measurements aren't preciseI'm an artist and bought these to practice drawing 3D shapes in different orientations. They are ideal for that purpose. I love the colors and that I can see through them. The plastic seems durable and they are stable on flat surfaces.I recognize these are for kids but if I cared more about precision, I would send them back. A handful of the shapes such as the large cube, pentagonal prism, and triangular prism taper slightly by a few millimeters from end to end. The cube is just barely noticeable, but I noticed the prism's tapering when I removed it from the box and I had to measure to be sure. This is more of a visual problem when you stack certain shapes, because one end will be flush with another shape, while the other end will not be, such that the edges stick out. Additionally, the stated measurements are rounded up because several of the shapes are slightly smaller than they are supposed to be. Other shapes are just fine.I got them for a deal so I don't mind these flaws. My use doesn't require precision and they are light and colorful, so I'm keeping them. If you care more than I do, be aware that the manufacturing is inconsistent.4Cheap, Brokeni was very excited to get these geometric shapes for my autistic child who adores any type of shapes. however, i was very disappointed when it arrived. some of the shapes were broken already. i really wanted to love it but the plastic is very cheap and can be broke very easily and it didn't last even a month.1Great for viewing shapes but quality not the bestI love that these give my 9 year old son a visual representation of the geometric shapes. It makes it easy for him to count the faces, vertexes, and edges. He is a very visual learner so this set has been helpful for that use. The plastic is more like a sharp plastic verses a more rubbery plastic - so it will crack easier. There are little circle "caps" for each piece - I guess if you want to fill the shapes with liquid. The caps easily fall off and don't stay in place very well so I would not recommend filling these shapes with liquid to compare volumes. Each shape is a good size - fits in my palm. They are great for giving 3D visual aids for geometric shapes but the quality could have been much better. I would recommend them if you have a visual learner but watch the price as it was cheaper when I purchased them. Happy learning!!3Great Learning for Learning Geometric Shapes I homeschool my 6 year old and we learned about 2 dimensional shapes for the first semester and now were working on geometric shapes. My son loves theses and loves playing and learning with them. It comes with a book that describes the shapes and they exactly as pictured. They are definitely worth the price and are really great learning tools. 5Colors, shapes, numbers, and volume makes a great learning toy. These are my sons favorite thing to use on his light tablet. He's a toddler and under the recommended age so they are used only with my supervision or he will throw them. Due to them being plastic I'm worried they will crack or break so far none have. I love how you can fill them. When he's older we will utilize that. 5Bought these for our light tableWe bought these for my 2 year old son for Christmas because we made him a home made light table and needed some translucent items to put on top of it for the light to shine through. While these aren't recommended for someone only 2 years old, we bought them anyway and just have him play with our supervision. There are some small pieces that could come detached so that is why i believe this is for someone older. However, my 2 year old now knows what a pyramid is and what a rectangular prism is thanks to these. There are many different shapes and colors (no two are the same) which makes it interesting for teaching him what the shapes and colors are. We are very happy with our purchase.5quite a nice little setMy kiddo has a light box so I got these for him to use with it. I was thinking he would stack them up and probably end up breaking them in short order (he's 3). Much to my surprise he treats these with a great deal of respect. He has learned each of the shapes and he does stack them on his light table but every so carefully. He's so afraid of breaking one. I guess I can't complain and will probably get him another set because he is absolutely in love with them. I think possibly the colors. This is a really nice set. I purchased it because it wasn't as pricey as some of the other "blocks" for light boards and figured they would meet with an unfortunate end. They are still kicking around, he even saved the original box. I know it's not the intended use but if he continues to take care of them they will last until he is old enough to use them.5Great product--fragile, but why wouldn't they be?These are great. I've read people reviewing saying that theirs were falling apart out of the box and all I can think is they got a defective product. I bought two boxes and all of the shapes are fine. Most of the shapes have three pieces: the small, removable piece covering a hole (for filling) and then the removable side piece (for easier filling and cleaning) and finally the rest of the shape. They are all solid, but you are not paying for shatter resistant pieces of acrylic. This item would cost much more if you were. They are simply shapes made of thin, but not too thin Plexiglas.Obviously, if they are in cold conditions for a while the plastic will deteriorate in strength and may crumple, but otherwise these are sturdy enough.5Good for teaching about shapes but some flaws I didn't realize the bottoms come off of each piece, likely to facilitate filling them with things which is great for older kids, but I found it annoying as the bottoms come out rather easily. I ended up removing all the bottoms and then putting the shapes out for younger kids. We use them with a light table. One shape has broken from use already. 3Cheaply made and arrived broken!!These pretty shapes arrived the other day and 3 of the shapes were cracked in the (minimally protected and thin) box with nearly 1" breaks on them and the large cube is missing the stopper plug but when trying stoppers from the other shapes none of them stay in it anyway, so the hole is too big or something. Cute concept and was excited to use these with a light table for my preschoolers, but won't be able to use them for my classroom like this and wonder if they would hold up to even gentle play. Bummed!!13 year old loves them!My son is having a blast playing with these shapes on his light pad. He's stacking them to make towers "with strong foundations." And we are talking about shapes and he is learning. The manufacturers say that this toy is great for ages 8 and up, but I think that it is also great to introduce younger children to the world of geometry.5Useful,but you cannot compare volumes easily, in spite of the claim that they can be filled.I ordered these without knowing exactly how large they were. For size comparison I have taken a photo of a sample along with a can of soda for reference. They are useful for students who have difficulty visualizing the geometric solids. They have small holes in them, so in theory you could fill them with water and compare volumes. However, practically this is nearly impossible. The liquid does not pour easily out of the small hole and it is impossible to get it all out. Sand does not work either. So they are neither "Easy to fill" nor "easy to clean" They are also fairly fragile, one has already met its demise by being dropped on the classroom floor. That said, they are much less expensive than wood models, and being able to see through them allows you to hold them next to each other with the surfaces touching and the kids can see the surface that they share is then a different color.4Fall apart easilyI really dislike these shapes and wish I wouldn't have missed the return window. They have tiny clear stoppers in them in case you want to fill them with rice or something to compare volume, but they fall out all the time. So far we haven't permanently lost any, we've always mangaged to find them eventually, but I'm sure the day is coming. Also, a few of the shapes themselves come apart easily as well. For example, the sphere comes apart into two half circles all the time when we don't want it to. I got these for use in our homeschool for my older kids to use with math lessons and also thought my youngers (6 and 8) could play with them. But now that we know how fragile they are, I don't let them. These shapes are not worth the money.2
