Very dependable rechargeable lantern used during Hurricane Irma and total power outage for days I bought 4 of these rechargeable lanterns last year prior to hurricane season and gave one each to a family member to evaluate. The 2 side flashlight are a very nice option even if they are not rechargeable. We were hit by Hurricaine IRma in Sept 2017 and these lights were invaluable. We left the main lantern in the evenings and nicely lit up a 20" by 24" family room, when we wanted more light we turned on the flashlights on the side too for more light. It was really nice to have a flashlight (side lights) that detached so you could have light traveling around the house. Our house is only about 2200 sq feet. After the hurricane hit we were without power about 12 days. these lanterns recharged nicely on our generator so we used them every night. The brightness is really good especially with the side lights.For our usage this has been a very dependable lantern. It comes with batteries for the side flashlights but you have to buy your own rechargeable D batteries.We do own a variety of rechargeable lanterns with LED technology, this is by far our families favorite lantern.I just bought more lanterns that we will keep in reserve. 5the versatility of this lantern is great. its easy for my kids to grab a ... the versatility of this lantern is great. its easy for my kids to grab a flashlight off the side if needed. the only problem is the battery life. even when fully charged, the light starts to fade after only 3.5 hours. i've had other led lanterns that last much much longer 4Keeps the light shining when the power is out Having just survived the past hurricane season, this time with a 24 hour power outage (many fared far worse), I determined to be ready to minimize storm-induced discomfort next season. Four of the REALLY BRIGHT lanterns were the first purchase. They're awesome; much brighter than any I've had before. The internal lithium can be charged via USB, solar or with D batteries (6 ea.). I use only recharcheable batteries, so I don't mind how many it takes for each lantern. Two of the four sides of light are detacheable flashlights, which run when taken off on AAA batteries. We'll never be in the dark again. 5Nothing is perfect.... Good concept and design but could use some improvements. All the glowing reviews are justified because of unique design with two removable flash lights but I used this light in my recent camping trip and the lantern part is good but the flash lights have poor range and has a kind of very blurry short range cloudy light. Also when I received the light it was missing a spring for the contacts for one of the flash light so I decided to open it and fix it myself instead of having the hassle of returning and getting a replacement, in the process I found that the rechargeable battery used is not a higher capacity one as I expected (see attached pics) so I added one more similar battery I had from a small power bank and managed to fit it in. I haven't fully tested the capacity of the light with two batteries but certainly the charging took few hours.Another big negative for the light is that the charging socket should have been a mini hdmi/standard android cell phone charger , instead manufacturer decided to use male to male regular USB cable which makes it challenging to carry another accessory and if lost the light is pretty much have to rely on regular batteries. 4A Great Go To Lantern that is Extremely Bright & Long Lasting This lantern is perfect as an emergency go to light in case of a power failure or makes a perfect light source in a garage, barn or outbuilding where a plug in light would be a pain in the butt. The light itself is extremely bright with a main light and then two side lights which are these neat flashlights which can be removed. On high, you can switch the main light together with switching on each flashlight which is sufficient to fully light a large room. The main lantern is a rechargeable battery whereas the two flashlights take 3 AAA alkaline batteries or rechargeable batteries.In addition, as an option or back-up power source, the main lantern unscrews at the base and holds 3 D size batteries. A nice extra is that the rechargeable battery can be used to charge one's cell phone. My in-laws live in North Carolina which has its share of severe weather, for them this was in a cabinet with other emergency lights in case of power failure as was the case with hurricane Florence when they were without electric for 5 days. A lantern like this not only makes it safer, it at least is similar to the light you would normally get from a plug in lamp.I cannot overstate how bright this Lantern is with the main light switched on together with both flashlights. I am not sure of the lumens and those numbers in the ads are really inflated and cannot be trusted. I can say just from personal use our flashlights have been used at least several hours without a dent to the 3 small batteries. We had the main light on for about three hours with a slight decrease in brightness. I am sure it will remain lighted on the rechargeable battery for 4 or 5 hours.The light itself is made from that very tough plastic and is well-made and not a cheap poorly constructed lamp you might expect in the $20 price range. I am older from the generation that takes care of one's items and this light will last us a lifetime. I have 3 different types of lanterns and by far this was the best of the 3 and considerably less expensive than a similar light with removable flashlights. It is also very easy to carry if you are walking in an unlit area with its 2 comfortable metal handles. This is a terrific light regardless of your need as a safety back-up or something to take camping or on your boat. This is money well spent and I highly recommend this lantern. I now have purchased 3 of these and given two as gifts because we like our lantern so much. We are not paid in any way to endorse this product and this review is my honest feedback after buying several and putting the lantern to use. 5Best Camping/ power outage light ever I love this light. It can be one big table or walking light, or it can be broken down into two flashlights and walking/table light. It charges items via USB. I highly recommend. It's well made. I would buy it again. 5Impressive functionality This product is so useful. The first time I took it camping with me I was immediately impressed with it's functionality. I made sure it was fully charged before the trip and the first night I had hours of lighting. The best thing about the product are the flashlights. They work with the latern when you need the extra light but I loved being able to have one on each side of the bed! I never worried about finding a light source in the dark. In the morning I could just put them back on the lamp and not lose them. The option to have a single beam or a brighter area light on the flashlights themselves made them very useful in any situation. The compass at the top was also very handy when it came to figuring out the best direction to set your tent up if there soon riding and setting was going to be a factor.The light is super easy to use, very functional and the battery power lasts! 5Not what I expected... I have been a avid camper sense I was young, when I say camping I mean I tent under the stars, and cook primarily over the fire. So natural I am very picky when it comes to choosing camping gear.Product arrived late despite it being listed as Amazon Prime, It should have arrived on a Saturday when it arrived on the following Tuesday. Once it arrived, I was surprised with how small it was! It seemed to be about half the size of our old lantern. The Product also felt like it was made out of cheap plastic! Very brittle feeling, I am very accident prone so I need something that will hold up against not just nature, also me. The Flash light attachments are held on by small black rotating bars that feel cheap (I would prefer it if they clicked in).Over all the light testing was ok, I did like to multiple light functions of the flash lights. The range of the full lantern lit was pretty nice considering how small the over all size of the product is. I was unable to test the full function of the lantern due to the fact that it takes D Batteries (which are very hard to find in my area, and are also very expensive).I chose to return the product and look for a better alternative, this product however could do nicely for a couple or small family that is new to camping. If you are a die hard camper like I am however, this might not be the one for you. 2Great... if you go camping for two hours After hours and hours of research, I decided to buy this lantern because of the good reviews and its intensity. I love camping, and I wanted a bright light so that my family and I could spend the night out. When I received the lantern, I tested it and it was great. I fully charged it and I bought a second lantern so that we can have a lot of light during our camping.When it got darker, at around 7:00pm, I turned on the lantern that we fully charged the day before (I could not use the other lantern because it arrived in three days even though I have prime). It was great. A lot of light for the whole campsite. However, after just two hours, at around 9:00 pm, the lantern's light became weaker. I thought we were getting used to the light, but once I detached one of the lights which has its own set of batteries, and turned that one on, I realized that the light was getting weaker. A lot weaker. By 10:00 pm, the light was even weak for inside the tent.I felt so frustrated, I am returning both lanterns. How can you sell a lantern that gives a bright light for only 2 hours? They should have included this in the description of the product. Now that I went back and read the reviews, I found that most people that review this product use it for emergencies, not for camping. So beware, if you want to go camping, and want a bright light that will last for at least 5 hours, this product is useless! 1Blinding glare Very bright and will make a good area light IF placed overhead. The glare off this light is way too much to use as a table or tent lantern. 2
