Customer Reviews

Easy Install; Kind of LoudTo preface, I have never installed a toilet fill valve in my life. The instructions provided the outline I needed to install it correctly. Honestly, the hardest part about installation was removing the plastic securing nut from the previous valve. The step by step visuals were helpful for a novice. It fills up the tank on my TOTO toilet very quickly and cuts off at the right time- the main issue I have with it is that it is not quiet at all and much louder than the old float ball toilets in my house. But I'm just glad to have a working valve again and the price is right!4Well Designed, Well Made, Inexpensive, Easy to UseInstalled today. Took me about 30 minutes with the wife as my assistant. (Probably only 20 had I been on my own, heh, heh...) This is far better than the one I got at the big orange store eight years ago. I will be getting a second one for the other bathroom this next payday. Works perfectly, no leaks, very quiet, fills pretty quickly. This is a good product. It is also popular, so you can find a lot of anecdotal information and even videos online if you are worried about doing this yourself. I replaced mine with a similar kit in 2008 when I installed a new wax ring and seat when we bought this house. It always had this drip I could hear late at night. I was sure we had a leak under the house. Nope. It was that cheap valve, and it only got worse over time. Recently it simply started running non-stop. The Korky 528 was easier to install and works better out of the box. The price is also very reasonable. If you need to do this and are worried about it being difficult or messy, it is neither. You *will* have water to blot up afterwards. You *will* come to one of the last instructions and have a few "HUH?" moments. I would simply read the instructions and look at that one illustration that shows all the different types of lines to connect to, and work out in your head exactly which hose type is coming up from your floor or wall and carefully look at the illustration to see which parts you need to use. I have braided stainless steel over flexible hose and did not have to use a few parts. Older fixtures that use that steel gooseneck lamp-type of hose and hand bend pipes will need the extra parts. If you are not sure, do this in the middle of a week day and you can call them for help, I think. Also, you can watch videos.5Purchased for Pool auto level I purchased this for my pool, to replace an identical one. The space was small, inside a pipe thus I ordered an identical one.I don't know how old the first one was, but it worked very effectively in keeping my pool at the same level for the past 3 years. Based on that, I would order this for my toilets as well. 5Slow fill with a drip-drip-drip, but gets the main job doneYes, this kit will get your running toilet fixed, and yes, it's pretty easy to install. But it's not magically quiet, and it's about the same quality as any other plastic fill valve and flapper. I suppose it is a technological step up from the old floating-ball apparatus, but not by that much. Does the job.Aside from the mess involved, the install for this kit is pretty simple: turn water off, lock the valve height and tighten in place, trim and attach the fill tube and replace the flapper, turn the water back on. Instructions are very clear on all the exact details for each step, it's pretty hard to go wrong here.Unfortunately, my valve has a pretty steady leak from the top as it's filling the tank. I can hear a steady "plop plop plop" sound as the water drips down for the duration of the fill time (which is way longer than what it took with the previous valve, by the way). So that pretty much destroys the QuietFill feature of this kit. I might have simply gotten a defective one, but it's not worth the effort to me to replace it again since it doesn't affect the main functionality. The whole mechanism feels like thin cheap plastic so I won't be surprised if it doesn't last. But ultimately, it's an inexpensive and easy way to deal with a toilet issue. Just as good or bad as any other valve kit probably.3Installed on 1985 Briggs toilet - very easy to do! This replaced a FluidMaster valve that a plumber installed in 2009 and he charged me $139 for the installation. Very easy to do if you've never done this before, don't be afraid and save a lot of money! It took me 10 minutes only because the plumber had tightened the FluidMaster so much it was hard to get the water line and the mounting nut loose. The Korky is easy to adjust for height but at first I thought it was defective because the slightest push and it would collapse. I had to yank it very hard to get it to firmly lock into place for the correct height and just for extra safety measures I inserted the white "landlord tamper-proof key". The tube is very long so more than likely you need to cut it with scissors and shorten it. Don't just stick the tube down the overflow pipe. The clip to attach to the pipe is included but it's hard to push into the tube. This one does seem a lot quieter than the FluidMaster but it also takes a few seconds more to fill after flushing. 4Usual Throw-away Product Designed to last maybe 2 yrs at most. After 1 year expect the noise on operation etc. Cheap product designed to fail quickly. The lack of quality is intentional. This is after all a very simple product. Planned Obsolescence at its finest. 2Great product, worth the extra money for quality.Recently, I noticed one of my toilets was making an odd noise. I removed the back to discover a small geyser, and that the builder hadn't bothered to run a hose to the overflow valve. I inspected the other toilets in the house to find the same issue, so decided it was Amazon time. The product arrived earlier than expected, and in one piece. The installation instructions, and process were so easy that I was second guessing myself at every step. Nothing "just works" these days, right? However, it really was that simple. Even the flapper valve, which I wasn't sure I really needed, was a drastic improvement. All of the toilets now flush better, use less water, and fill back up quietly.Excellent design, easy to install, and made much better than some of the cheap competators. Honestly, what more could one ask for?5Quality if fine, but not completely "universal".....Somewhere in researching this kit, I understood it would work with a Kohler toilet. Well, not necessarily. The fill valve works great. But the flush valve doesn't. If you have a Kohler, you need to pull the tank off first. If it has a black seal with "legs" that extend out to each bolt hole with rubber seals that fit into those bolt holes, this flush valve will NOT work. You will need to order the Kohler flush valve (about another $20).3Happy -- second toilet now fixed with these! This is the second one of these I've installed in our 1960s Eljer toilets. After seeing how well the first one has been working (for over 5 years), I decided to fix toilet #2. I can only hope that this one lasts as long! Both have replaced Fluidmaster, which were very noisy and would lose pressure and then add a bit more water to shut back off. This fills more quietly than the Fluidmaster too, which takes longer to fill, but that's not a problem. They are very easy to install and adjust. I love that I can set it quite low in the tank to use less water. The local stores only have the more expensive ones, that come in kits with flappers, etc... but the Eljer toilets don's use the standard flapper assembly. I was happy to find this less expensive one.Just make sure you "snap" it clockwise back into place when you're done adjusting so the water pressure doesn't cause it to shoot up against the tank lid. It comes with a locking clip, so you can install that if you're concerned that it doesn't seem to be snapping into the locked position. 5If I can do it, you can do it!I am 55 years old with a bit of arthritis in the thumbs from too much Candy Crush. I have never installed anything like this before. After being charged $300 to install by a plumber and then hearing him say how they are making these new faucets so easy to install it would put him out of buisness; that kick in the wallet made me realize that I need to try to do some of this stuff myself... the little toilet adventure costing less than $9 took me a whopping 25 minutes to remove the old and install the new...flushes great, I had to make a quick adjustment to the chain length. The directions were very clear, and very simple! If I can do, you definitely can do it!5Best quality kit aroundGot four of these to update the entire house we just purchased. Multiple steps above in quality from the other kit I usually get. Also purchased the Korky metal handles to go with it. Only issue I had was we have Gerber toilets from 2012 when the house was built, and for whatever reason they use a thicker than standard gasket from bowl to base. I contacted Korky and they sent four out right away without issue. So be aware of that if you have Gerber from that timeframe. Otherwise install was fine, gaskets appear to be top notch and it flushes quiet and fills fast. Very happy.Attached is a pic of my particular Gerber if it helps with the Korky kit and handle installed.I wish the directions mentioned about the seal though, I had to find out about it in one of the comments after I realized it wasn't going to fit.5WORKS! Used to replace FluidMaster that wasn't working properly. Had a toilet with a FluidMaster fill valve that wasn't working right. The old valve was filling water VERY slowly. For whatever reason. Not sure how old the old fill valve was, but it needed replaced. The toilet is close to 40 years old and is an American Standard. Installation of this valve is not difficult. The way to adjust the water line is fine. Quiet, works and guarantee for five years. All that and MADE IN USA! I may get a few just to have around for my two other toilets in the house in case anything happens with them. Bottom line: KORKY makes some great toilet stuff! 5Absolutely quieter than the Fluidmaster 400 seriesWhile "quiet" isn't exactly the word I would use the describe it, it is without a doubt less noisy than the ol' gray and black Fluidmaster 400 series. Installs exactly the same way. Turn off water to the toilet, flush the toilet and remove all the water from the tank, unscrew water inlet line from the bottom of the old valve, unscrew the plastic nut at the bottom of the valve (usually done by hand), remove old fill valve, install this new one in reverse. Check for slow leaks after turning water back on by placing a single piece of TP under the valve and checking it every hour or overnight. Overall, I've had two of the Fluidmaster 400s fail me in one way or another in the past 2 years. Ridiculous. I'll update this review if this valve gives me trouble.5Easy install Installed easy, works great. Ordered from Amazon because I did not have time to get to Home Depot (darn job thing) but got and installed easily, can almost do the whole thing with your barehands but should have a slip pliers to add that extra torque (but not too much, hand tight and a quarter turn I am told) 5Works great...Easy to install The toilet in my Master Bath had an old FluidMaster fill valve that was dying and making odd noises until it finally gave up the ghost, taking forever to refill the tank no matter how much I cleaned out the trap at the top. Due to the many positive reviews, I decided to give this Korky a try, and I'm glad I did. I dread doing plumbing work but removing the old one and installing the Korky took less than half an hour. The only thing I would differ with the installation instructions on is that it says NOT to use sealant tapes, to just hand tighten the nut that secures the water supply to the valve. Following this instruction, tightening by hand as much as I could, I got a steady dripping from the joint. Once I wrapped the threaded steam of the Korky with Teflon tape and reattached the water supply, the dripping stopped and it functions nicely. I'm buying a second one for my other toilet. I would recommend. 5Worked like a charm We had a leaking toilet and I had asked my husband on a daily basis to check it out and figure out what the problem was. He would peek in and say he couldn't figure it out but then we got a $160 water bill and I was not happy about it and told him he needed to figure it out. He ordered this product the same day and when we got it he had it installed in less than 5 minutes and lo and behold our leak was gone. Quick, easy and inexpensive fix. 5I was dubious because to be honest the price was cheap.Fixing anything in my home that has anything to do with electricity or water makes me a tiny bit nervous. The last thing you want to wake up to in the morning is a flood. Luckily I had no flood. After far too much research into valve, flapper and valve & flapper kits I opted for this one. The reviews were good and I had recently replaced all the other flappers in the house with this particular Korky flapper which I loved, well as much as you can say you love a part for a toilet. What concerned me was the price, no it wasn't too expensive, in fact it was rather cheap. Well I thought so anyway and I was sure it would break and cause a flood or something. I was almost trying to convince myself that I had to find something expensive to get the job done properly.Well it arrived. I unpacked it, read the instructions and within 30 minutes had completed the job without spilling one drop of water. No leaks or floods in sight. All the parts actually felt good and solid and it gave a variety of parts for different systems. It's actually really nice to get away from the old ballcock design flushing system as I much prefer this new system. I will happily order more of these as and when I need to fix and therefore upgrade the other toilets in the house.5Installation might be hard, but works well.My toilet was running. Replacing the flapper--which looked like a rotting organ infested with tuberculosis--didn't solve the problem. So I tried cleaning the valve. Didn't work. The valve was older than time itself. My house was built in the 50's and I question if it's been changed since then.So replacement. Old brand was a FlushMaster but this brand was a whole dollar cheaper. Score.Box from The Amazon Overlords arrived. Then I found out the adapter stick thing had to be completely replaced to switch between brands. Surprise! There goes the value of that one buck I saved. But no biggie, I've installed two bidets and one flapper, so I'm a pro at this point, right?Wrong. Put on my stopwatch when I started. It took 50 minutes to replace the adapter. You have to go under the toilet, unscrew its connection to the water supply, deal with the flood of water that ensues (1 bucket and 3 towels worth), and then screw in the new thingy. The hard part is you're at the mercy of whoever tightened the nuts under your toilet 50 years ago.I sat there on the floor--lying on my back on the cold, wet bathroom floor--struggling to unscrew those vacuum-tightened nuts, struggling to exist. I pondered the absurdity of my life--here I was fighting with plastic and porcelain, as the minutes of my life flushed on by on this large rock flying aimlessly in a vast universe of emptiness. An hour of Sisyphean squeezing. The nuts were tighter than spandex on a sumo wrestler. An extra fat one. I gave up and un-gave up repeatedly. Finally, I realized I was turning the nuts in the wrong way. After that, installation took a few seconds. The instructions said to put the rubber pipe thingy into my toilet tube thingy, but the pipe was too short, so I disregarded that. Still works like a champ (indeed quiet and quick to fill), but perhaps my toilet will one day end in some sort of fiery explosion due to my carelessness.Moral of the story? Switching brands isn't worth a buck and life has no meaning.5Great - lasted two years My toilet was making a running water sound. It could be any one of three things(or is it two)...but this is the thing I always try first. No more running toilet. (by the way don't use the blue inserts)Updated 2/2019 - so i noticed a "water running sound"....I switched out the valve(for a fluidmaster) and its not running now...I took apart the Korky(the valve cleaning process) just to see if I could see any issues...everything looked fine to me....not dirty or clogged or anything...still not sure why this thing was running....seriously if i could pay more and have one of these that doesn't need to be replaced after two years I would...its not a difficult task at all but 2 years seems a bit on the short side...I guess they gotta make money somehow. 3
