Customer Reviews

Great concept but poorly constructed - Light use only Pros: Very handy organizer for flash drives and other small items in my office, keeps these potentially sensitive items hidden from sight. Installs easily in a standard full size drive bay. It more-or-less fills my particular need.Cons: Cheaply made, it's all plastic and feels quite flimsy... for what it is it should only cost 5 or 6 bucks. The latch on mine works ok but many have complained that it breaks easily. It would be significantly more stealthy if the manufacturers name wasn't molded into the face of the drawer, just make it a plain black front like a standard blanking plate... like, DUH!Overall: For occasional use such as mine I think it might last 5+ years. I'll keep it, but would much prefer something a bit more substantial and much more subtle even if it cost another $5. If you'll be opening it frequently then move on, it won't stand up to that sort of use. If better quality and less obvious it would be a 5 star item, I currently give it four (which might be a bit generous), it will be revised downward later on if it breaks under light and careful use. 4Could have been better made The frame is made out of metal and the drawer is made out of plastic. The problem is what alot of other reviews have said the clip on the bottom of the drawer is a very thin piece of plastic. I tested mine 3 times before installing and it broke. I did end up using it as all the drawers I have looked at have the same design. I ended up pushing out the latch on the frame to get the drawer to not to stick out. I have a phanteks enthoo pro I was able to install it on the top bay my case has a cover above the bays that flips up to cover the USBs and I am able to flip the cover up and grab the top of the drawer and pull it out. It does sit flush so if that cover did not lift up I would not be able to open the drawer. The drawer is not that expensive but I would have paid more for a better quality. 1Very nice click when you push it in A lot of the pictures I've seen in reviews have a handle, but mine is a spring loaded lock. Very nice click when you push it in. It's almost flush with the font of my case, but it's not out enough to be easily noticed. I saw a couple of reviews complaining that the drawer "falls out" because there's no stopper, but I see that as a positive; I can pull the entire drawer out quickly to find something I've got buried in it. The front is flat and matte, with the manufacturer stamped on it (you can't see it without looking at it up close).Overall it's a surprising amount of space, as it allowed me to clear a lot of stuff off of my desk. It's full to the brim with spare USB cables, SATA cables, SATA power splitters, phone charging bricks, game authenticator dongles, USB sticks, spare screws, molex converters, even the SLI bridge that came with my graphics card. Hell I even tossed a set of nail clippers in there! The only issue is that it's a VERY tight fit in the drive bay. I had to take my Blu Ray burner out and force the drawer into the top slot, then put the burner back in. But, given that you're using it for storage, do you want to risk the entire thing popping out when you take out the drawer?I'm probably going to order a second one, as my tower has three 5.25 bays. I've got a DVD burner salvaged from my old computer which I never use, in addition to the aforementioned Blu Ray burner. If anything, a second drawer to spread out some of the clutter is more useful than an optical drive I didn't even use when it was in my old system! 5Does it s job but could be much better. Thankfully mine arrived with a working spring unlike some others reviews here. Install was a breeze although my cases pogo wouldn t work with it.My main issue is how loud the drawer is when opening / closing. The single front caster on each side isn t doing it any favor in the noise department. Also isn t helping the drawer with smooth uniform opening / closing. To help reduce the sound I cut some EVA foam to fit in the drawer. One other downside is the whole unit is fully encased without airflow. So be mindful of what you store things that may be sensitive to heat depending on how well your case handles heat. Although it could be a great cookie or brownie warming station! If they ever update this product it would be nice to see the plastic drawer replaced with aluminum or another metal. While also improving the casters for the drawer. Maybe even using a rail. 3Mounts nicely in a 5 1/4 inch tray Handy little drawer. Mounts nicely in a 5 1/4 inch tray. It's sturdy and opens smoothly. The only nit-pick I have is that my Fractal Design Arc XL has a nice brushed matte finish and the drawer is more glossy which you can notice if you look closely. I may scuff it a bit if I find it really bothers me. 5Worth the price. Use to store flash drives. Decent quality. Pros: My friends get a big kick out of it and want one. I use it to store my flash drives. Can't go wrong with $10. Worth the price for sure.If you have a tool less 5.25" bay such as me. Corsair 500R. You can slip this into position, but you will need to screw it down. The tool less "snap" arms just open up to let it in and can't "snap" to anything like on a standard DVD-ROM. It fits good though. If you want it to fit EXACTLY flush with your case, be prepared to drill your own mounting holes in the plastic.Cons: Not quite as practical as I had imagined. The space to place objects is smaller than expected. You have to be careful with the drawer. If you pull on it too hard you could break it. Doesn't fit flush to the case front, but close enough for me. (Corsair 500R) I'm not too picky. If you get dust in the drawer, You can't take it out to clean it. You have to just wipe the dust out with a cloth unfortunately. 3As expected for cheap Works well as storage built into a mini-tower or bigger. And yes, the case front does not sit flush with the front bezel. It looks like bad design: the drawer was made considerably smaller than its casing, so it rattles around a bit, and the back of the drawer is pushed forward to accommodate the spring lock mechanism. If the drawer were 2mm shorter in length, this would solve the problem. However, it suits my purpose, so I bought a second one. The quality is consistent with the price. 3but then all of the available drive bay drawers seems to be like that. For the price I guess it is ... Product was not packaged well and was (presumably) damaged during transport. However, thankfully it was only a few of the plastics tabs that hold the top on. A bit of tape fixed that, not worth the trouble returning in this case. This was the only bay drawer I could find that is compatible with the rail mounts for my case (requires all four screw holes on each side). The drawer is cheaply made plastic, but then all of the available drive bay drawers seems to be like that. For the price I guess it is acceptable. Would prefer a better quality product if such a thing actually existed. That said, it seems solid enough if you are not too rough on it. The drawer does lock closed using plastic tabs, they don't seem to stress much when open/closing and should hold. There does not seem to be an inner rail for the drawer, it's just a box inside a box with those plastic tags (one on each side behind of the drawer front) to hold it closed. You will probably want some sort of padding/liner added to help keep items (ie; USB flash drives) from rattling around inside. 3This is an excellent way of using those empty 5.25" bays in your PC! Summary:I highly recommend this product. Most of the time we have at least one 5.25" bay going to waste in our computer, and no matter how well organized you are, extra storage is never a bad thing. This item is perfect for storing USB thumb drives, USB cables, case hardware, iPhones, etc...Pros:- Well constructed and durable- Snaps shut. Meaning you don't have to worry about it opening on its own.- Easy to install. fits a standard 5.25" bay. Comes with its own screws but the standard case hardware fits if you want to use other screws (like thumbscrews)- Good storage capacity. I bought two. One for my USB thumbdrives (who DOESN'T have about 20 of those things floating around their house?), and one for various USB cables.Cons:- Due to the protruding handle, this won't fit in a case that has a door covering the drive bays.- Can be slightly (very slightly) difficult to open. The handles aren't very wide and are flat and glossy, meaning there is not much purchase for your fingers when trying to open it. Due to that, and the tightness of the locking mechanism (it's just a snap, really), sometimes when trying to open, your grip will slide off.Other Thoughts:- I cut a couple of strips (about 1") of very fine rubber and attached to the top and bottom of the handle to allow for a more comfortable and effective grip. This reduced the trouble of trying to open a drawer only to have your grip slide off of the slippery plastic.- I covered the bottom of the drawer with a non-slip shelf liner to prevent things from sliding around when I opened/closed the drawer, and to reduce any vibrations from causing the items in the drawer to rattle around noisily. 4and the finish on it doesn't look as nice as the rest of my PC Works well. I have it installed in my first 5.25 slot in my desktop. Using some of that non-adhesive drawer liner material, I cut a rectangle out to put inside of this. This keeps things from sliding around, and keeps things neat inside of it. It is plastic, and the finish on it doesn't look as nice as the rest of my PC. Then again this is a <$10 product so I'm not really expecting $50 quality here. It works really well for what I needed it for. I keep flash drives and USB cables inside it so that they don't get lost on my desk. It also keeps them out of my way when I'm working on something. The only thing I really don't like is that it's not that easy to open. I'm probably going to stick something on the little pull tab area so that my fingers can grip it easier. The little pull tab is just a little too small to get a firm grip on to open it easily, and since it's smooth my fingers just slip right off of it. So typically when I go to open the drawer I have to pinch it a bit rather hard and then it opens about 1/3 of the way before I lose my grip on it. Again, it's a $10 product, so whatever. Adding a little rubber material to it or something will most likely solve this issue. 4
